Going to take the rental car down to the Bradenton-Sarasota area to check that area out for our future move. Any locals know anything about this area? Everyone I've talked to and everything I've read sounds great!

You MUST go to Siesta Key Beach. It is the best beach I have ever been to. The water is clear and the sand is so fine that you don't have that gritty feeling when it gets on you. We have been (and taken the kids) to this beach a few times and they absolutely LOVE IT. The sand doesn't get hot and it is so much nicer to play in than the Gulf Coast beaches of Alabama and NW Florida. My daughter calls it the pretty beach. She always wants to go there but of course, it is just not practical to make jaunts that far a few times each summer so we go to the closer beaches. The other beaches in the area that we have been to have coarser sand or alot of broken shells in the sand. Somewhere in Venice is where you go to look for sharks teeth and there is another area for good shell hunting; the locals can give you that info.

Going in our Motor Home for our first trip big to Ft. Wilderness August 8-15 Yippee

We will be there the end of August and the first of September, but I wanted to see my countdown, so I replied.

However, I would like to know more about Siesta Key Beach. We will be taking a day trip as well.

We just made reservations on a site at Fort Wilderness today...for Oct. 17-21. We are driving from Maryland to Charleston SC then to Hunting Island SC then to Fort Wilderness for a 2 week camping trip. This is the longest we have ever taken. We have a popup, but it has air conditioning, hot water, and is very comfy. Can't wait! Also purchased tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Sandie
