Where did you stay?

What "tours" and shows did you see?

What's the best buffet in town?

We will be going in June and I want to be well informed and where else could I get the BEST info than right here with my great Disney board buddies!!!!;) :jester: :bounce:

We go every year - just got home about 2 weeks ago. If you are looking for the BEST - you'll want to stay at either Bellagio or Venetian (Sun-Thurs give the best room rates). We don't do tours usually, although we've been to the Hoover Dam. If you're renting a car, I recommend checking it out. They don't offer the big Hard Hat Tour anymore (since Sept 11th), but its still amazing to see. The best buffet in town is the Bellagio. Others will recommend Paris and Aladdin as well, but we've never tried those. As for shows, we just saw 'O' (Cirque) at Bellagio. Words cannot describe this show. It was just amazing. For more info on hotel, food, shows, and more go to http://www.a2zlasvegas.com

Feel free to ask me any questions.

Me....MGM buffet....stayed at Treasure Island....did the Hoover Dam tour and Red Rock tour.

We've been several times and one of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to sign up on the hotel/casino websites because you can get some amazing offers. I've been getting several offers a week from places like the Mirage, Paris, Monte Carlo, etc. with really, really low room rates. Also, you might visit www.a2zlasvegas.com. It's a great site with a ton of information. We've stayed at Circus Circus, the Riviera and Excalibur (once was enough for me at all of these) and MGM and Luxor both of which we enjoyed. Have a great time!

LONG time ago (probably 93).

We stayed in the Imperial Palace. Wouldn't stay there again. This was before I had a computer and internet and the brochure sounded good, but...

We did a bus tour to Hoover Dam and really enjoyed it (it was a pretty full day).

We went to see Splash! An aquatic show just to say we'd seen a show. It was ok (we went to the early show).

We had a blast just walking around the strip with everything that there is to see.

Been there three times. :)

Stayed at:

Treasure Island (nice hotel, decent location, but kind of pricey -- I was there on business, so I wasn't paying :) ).
Monte Carlo (very nice, no real theme or gimmick, just a decent, clean room.)
Bally's (Excellent location, right in the center of the Strip. Rooms were ok, kind of worn, but clean and fairly cheap.)

Tours/Attractions:

Hoover Dam -- I recommend it for a day-trip.
Red Rock Canyon -- Awesome hiking trails, but I wouldn't recommend it in June as there's absolutely no shade!
Freemont Street Experience -- Downtown light show. It's pretty cool, free, and cheesy enough to make you feel like you're in Vegas. A good night-time activity.
The Fountains at Bellagio -- Gotta catch a couple of these shows as you walk by each night! :)

Shows:

Lance Burton (Monte Carlo) -- Very good show, pretty reasonable price-wise
The Rat Pack is Back (Sahara) -- Awesome show, very inexpensive, but I don't think it's playing anymore.

I wish I could help you on buffets, but I think I've only been to like one buffet, and it was for breakfast. I hear the nicest buffets are at the Paris and the Bellagio.

Stayed at Mandalay Bay. Loved it. Great Buffet, Awesome pool. Bellagio also has great buffet. Treasure Island had the worst buffet. Saw both of the Cirque shows. Did not like 'O' as much as the other one. I enjoy going to the other hotels and just looking around and shopping. I just hate how they keep the buildings so cold. I remember it was 100 degrees outside and I had to buy a sweater while I was there.

I've been lots of times. I have stayed in New York New York, Luxor, MGM, Paris, the new Aladdin, Bellagio, and Treasure Island.

I don't like magic shows, so I have not seen Siegfried and Roy, but most people seem to like it. I loved the two Cirque Du Soleil shows - "O" and "Mystere". I have also seen "Tony and Tina's Wedding" at the Rio. It was cute.

The absolute best breakfast buffet is at the Paris. They have an omelet station, a crepe station, tons of fruits and cheeses, in addition to regular American breakfast items (pancakes, sausage, etc.). The dinner buffet at the Bellagio is great. For another nice meal (not a buffet) try the Grand Luxe cafe at the Venetian. Very good food, but huge portions, so you might want to split an entree with someone.

Have fun!

We went (granted it was almost 9 years ago!) and stayed at the Excalibur. It was a great hotel for comparitively little money. We also stayed two nights at the Mirage (because we extended our stay & couldn't get anything at Excalibur.) The room was nice, but again because it was so last minute we couldn't get a non-smoking room and this room smelled like there had been a group of poker playing, cigar smoking guys smoking in the room 24 hours a day for two weeks!!

Towards the end of our vacation we were pretty broke & I recall the Circus Circus buffet was very cheap. LOL

We splurged on what we thought was an over priced show... but turned out to be worth EVERY penny.... Siegfried & Roy. EXCELLENT!!

We had a very nice (albeit pricey) lunch at Ceasar's. I can't recall the name of the restaurant but it was a great sit down meal (if you get tired of the buffets)

Have fun & good luck!!!

We stayed at Treasure Island in 1996 and saw the Cirque production "Mystere".

It's been too long for me to tell you which buffet is best, I imagine those change regularly.

I've stayed at Excalibur, Circus Circus & Golden Nugget. So far the Golden Nugget is my favorite. I prefer to gamble downtown. Blackjack at Binion's Horseshoe is the best, IMO.

The seafood buffet at the Fremont is really good.

There's a Krispy Kreme at the Excalibur.

Here's a site for perusing shows. Just click on Search Shows by date on the left.

As a Disney fan you should check out the TDS at the Caesar's forum shops(hope TDS is still there...they had some exclusive Vegas themed merch). We've stayed 3-4 times on the strip. Last time we stayed at Luxor which has very cool Egyptian theming. We saw Fantasia 2000 at the Imax theater there, they may have Lion King now. Most memorable meal was Sunday brunch at the Brown Derby under the MGM Grand.

Oooops! I forgot one of my favorite Vegas sites! There are detailed reviews of all the casino/ hotels.

www.cheapovegas.com I love Casino Boy!

I have been to Vegas more times than WDW. OK I have stayed as the Stardust, Riviera, Flamingo, Imperial Palace, and Ballys.
I have done the Hover dam, Red Rock Canyon and Bonnie Springs tours are recomend them all.
I have seen both Cirque Du Soleil shows - "O" and "Mystere" and enjoyed them both.
I have seem many of the free shows the hotels offer (Fremot Experience, Pirate battle, Volcano, and Belagio fountains).

Just got back... went last weekend.

Excalibur was a horrible hotel... even the bell staff agreed with us.

NY-NY was a very nice hotel but we somehow managed to get lost in it... that wasnt too fun... they have too many entrances.

I've also stayed at MGM, Ballys, Orleans, Bellagio and Monte Carlo if you want to know about any of those. :)

My Dh and I are going in May. Staying at Tropicana for first few nights than to UT for a wedding than back to Vegas for 2 more nights Unsure of hotel at this time for those nights.

If you like seafood, the Rio Hotel (off the strip) had the best seafood buffet! It had everthing imaginable on it, lobster, crab, oysters, crawfish, shushi, shrimp etc....... I went with a friend, our husbands do not like seafood. We took one look at that buffet and ate tons of everything! I still rave about it even though I ended up with seafood poisoning that night!! Too much of a good thing. This was a few years ago, but it was very popular.

I have been several times. When I was younger, I always stayed at Circus Circus. Then for a few years we stayed at MGM Grand, which I loved - nicely themed, huge, lots to do. We stayed at the Tropicana last time, and I hated it. It seemed run-down and was so smoky compared to the other hotels...but if you like to gamble, I guess it is a good place. My dream is to stay at the Bellagio...that is what everyone talks about!

The best buffet that I have ever had was at the Rio. (And it got cut short 15 mnutes into it, but the few bites I had were the best, and food selection was amazing.) I have eaten at the MGM Grand several times, and enjoyed that a lot. The Excalibur buffet was GROSS...the food was awful and cold!

I have never taken any tours, but there are lots of things to do in Las Vegas...just seeing all the hotels and shopping can take up a lot of time! (Especially for someone like me, who can't drink or gamble!)
