At the shop where I work today I called a woman "sir".

In my defence, she was very, uh, *homely*...

She was not best pleased.

OUCH!
Maybe it inspired her to do something about it....OR she could have cared less:confused3

I have done that on the phone before. Not much you can do other than apologize...stinks!

I once asked a woman about her father; it turned out to be her husband. I was very embarrassed!

Heard a co-worker make an equally oops comment just the other day to another co-worker's wife:

"So when are you due?"

People should know better then to ever ask this question, lol.

I once mistaken a guy for a woman. He was walking with his wife and I asked how are you ladies doing today. He said fine, but I'm a guy. I felt bad and explained it off as I wasn't wearing my glasses. yeah, they're just reading glasses and it wouldn't have made a difference, but they didn't know that

I have one up on you, as an ER nurse especially at triage you can get on a roll trying to obtain a medical history...one very busy night where we had very little time rushing folks through triage, I asked a 6'4" or so African-American man when his last cycle was?:rotfl2:.........there was silence considering I felt like I was about to be pounded, since i'm a short fat white guy......he just smiled and said that if he ever starts his cycle he will be sure to get right in here to the ER.....I thought that I had left behind a wife and 2 children.......that was several years ago and it is still top 5 funniest things in our ER....we have a list you know.....in fact some of you might be on it:thumbsup2
