When the Magic heads home at the end of August Do you think Michael Eisner or any celebrities will be on hand to say GOOD-BYE. :wave2:

It would be nice, but he wasn't even on hand to great us when we arrived. I really thought they would make a bigger deal out of it when we arrived..all the new ports did a better job than the port in CA. A bit disappointing actually!

I doubt anyone will be there except diehard Disers!

Webray,
That's sad :sad2: I really thought when you guys got to California you would have gotten a big Greeting. Makes me wonder how things would have been if Roy was still in charge.

Well, think back to the maiden voyage. THey did a celebrity shakedown cruise. Then they came into Port Canaveral and did the ship's christening with a HUGE celebration. THe paid guests were all at WDW at that time and weren't included. The next day we boarded the ship and the only thing available on the TV was the video of the christening celebration (YUP, the one we weren't invited to!)

There was a plane with a banner wishing us well and a celebration when we got into Nassau the first time with Bahamian officials--again, we weren't invited!

I am off that day, and have been debating going down to the port to see her off. The kids would love it. Wonder if any other local cruisers from this summer might come down? We were there for the May 28th sailaway so why not to say goodbye (at least until 2007?).

We will look for you -- as we take the Magic back to her home port :cool1:

Why are we saying "Good-bye to the Magic?" , as the OP said, "until at least 2007? Or did I misunderstand her, and that's when she's cruising next. Is she going for an overhaul, dry dock, or are her sailing days over before I got to meet her. We're hoping for a 7 day eastern in 2007, any info would be appreciated.

What they meant was that the Magic is leaving California. So those on the West Coast will be saying good bye. They said until 2007 because there is speculation that the 2007 itineraries may include alternative ports, maybe California for the summer again.

I don't think any celebrities or Disney officials will be there to send the Magic off from California or to greet her back in Port Canaveral. The festivities surrounding her send off in May were definately lacking and I think they will be missing again.

Thanks clten, I had no idea how I was going to break it to my 2 DD that there may not have been a cruise for 2007, let alone how to break it to myself :rotfl: Thanks, I can keep on dreaming :cloud9: about 2007. Now to break it to DH....

I remember that very well....that was the most upsetting thing to all the Maiden Voyage passengers......that is all everyone talked about onboard....how the paying passengers did not event get a sailaway party, let alone any kind of celebration...all that was done the day before and as mentioned above they played the VIP celebration on the cabin TV....people were furious!!!

We had to book 2 years in advance with no idea what the itinerary would be or what the final cost would be....we booked blind...DCL didn't even have a definate idea of how many days the cruise would be. Then the sailing was delayed not once but twice....we had to change airline tickets, hotel reservations and time off from work a few times before we actually sailed. DCL did come through with offering us 50% off our next cruise and paid our airline change fees and they even threw in a night at Hyatt the night before the cruise and transfers....that is why we kept coming back to DCL!!! They made a bad situation...magical!!!

I would love to drive over to see the final sailing, but I'm afraid I would cry! We'll see.
