I have a trip coming up that I booked thru a known wholesale travel agent. Our trip is in 2 weeks. We were booked for 7 days in a resort and 2 days ago decided to add 3 more days to the front of our trip at another WDW resort for a split stay. The tickets I have for the trip were on the original reservation. We want them put on the new reservation so we can book FP+'s for the first 3 days. The agent told me that on check-in at the first resort I can ask for an early release of my tickets so we can start using them right away. What?!?!? We want to make FP+'s now!!! I called Disney and they said they naturally can't do anything because it's through a travel agent, but they don't understand why the agent doesn't call and just have it switched to the first early reservation. So I emailed the agent and said what I wanted done tomorrow. I still can cancel both reservations because Disney could see them and told me both are considered room only even the one that has the tickets with them.

So if the agent says she can't do it then I'm either going to:

1) Totally cancel both reservations and book directly with Disney who still has availability in resorts we'd be interested in. We always book through WDW, but tried something new this time.

2) Tell the agent we won't be needing the tickets and then buy them right from Disney.

3) Do what the agent said and see how it goes.

Final note: I talked to WDW Guest Services and they said in the first 2 scenarios we could lose all the FP+'s we made, but if I call the internet help desk the same day they will be able to reinstate those passes.

Just looking for opinions.

TIA

You don't mention who the wholesaler is, but I would double check what your cancellation policy is. Just because WDW sees it as a room-only on their end doesn't mean the wholesaler doesn't have their own terms and conditions. Check your paperwork before you cancel.

If you do decide to cancel the wholesaler reservations, I would purchase your tickets separately and link them to MDE PRIOR to cancelling the wholesaler reservations. Or make your reservations directly through WDW, making your first reservation a package with tickets, again, prior to cancelling with wholesaler (and making sure the new package is linked in MDE prior to cancelling) That way, you have tickets already linked in MDE when the wholesaler reservations go away. As long as you have valid ticket media, covering all FP+ days linked to your account, you will not lose your FP+.

I am not allowed to mention the wholesaler here ************** According to the paperwork I can cancel anytime, before 5 days for a full refund. I already told my wife that we would need to either book tickets or tickets and resort before we cancel, but thanks for the response.

How many days are there on the tickets that the TA bundled with the room reservation? Are there enough days on the tickets to even cover the 3 additional days of FP+ for the stay preceding the reservation you have thru the TA? If not, all of this is not worth wasting your time on. You can only have FP+ reservations for the number of days on the tickets.

Plus, what about the discounts you got for booking the package through the TA?

Oh and if you've already linked the tickets to MDE to book the FPs, you are probably SOL.

I have no idea what you are talking about. All I want the agent to do is add the tickets to the first reservation so that it would be good for the entire 10 day stay. I called Disney yesterday and they even told me it can be done which I said in my original post.

Not really. The DIS has software that censors companies which, at some point, violated wdwinfo t&c.

I was always under the impression we can not put that companies name here, because another travel company sponsors this site.

Let me explain it to you. I have a 10 day stay with a 7 day ticket plus a 1 day water park ticket. We like to have a couple of days just to relax at the resort therefore that's why we don't have a 10 day ticket. Our original reservation was for 7 days with a seven day ticket and we have 7 days worth of FP+'s. Now that we have 10 days we will be cancelling one of our FP+ days and moving it up to the first 3 days of our new reservation. So what's the difference? It sounds like people are not understanding my original post.

No. I completely understand now that you have clarified your ticket situation. Have you even tried to cancel the FP+ for one of the days you are planning for non-park days and booking FP+s for one of the days that falls during your 3 preceding days? The reason that I am asking is that if the tickets and room that you booked with the TA are truly separate and not a package, then it will not matter when you choose to make your FP+ as long as they are for no more than 7 days and all fall within a span of 14 days.

I understand it too. But if you've already made FPs, that means the tickets are linked to your account and cannot be removed. Therefore, if these tickets were booked through the TA, you couldn't get that back at all as those would now be non-refundable.

Marionnette, when I try to book FP+'s it shows the entire month of August when we are going. The dates of my original reservation are 8/10-8/17. So now we have added 8/7-8/10. Even though we have 7 days of FP+'s booked, on the August FP+ calendar I can click on any day from 8/10-8/31 and make FP+'s, but 8/1-8/9 cannot be clicked on. It says it's invalid and that I don't have tickets for these dates, because they are tied to my 8/10-8/17 reservations. Because my tickets start on the 10th it won't let me book any FP+'s before that date. That's why I asked the TA to just remove the tickets from my reservation starting on 8/10 and place it on my reservation starting on 8/7. When I called Disney's Guest Services they couldn't understand why the TA didn't do it. They said it's very simple.

That is the sort of thing that happens with a package.

From what I’ve read, it’s probable that this ta books things a little funky compared to the normal ta package va room only. I doubt if they can or will do this.

We can mention all sorts of TAs. But not all. When we enter a company name we need to put the whole url so that the filter can catch it. If we work around that by using a plain name, that’s when we get in trouble.

Then cancel if you can get the same deal. When you cancelled before and we’re fully paid, did you have to be? If you had to be paid up in advance of checkin, that shows that they book it as a form of a package. And that’s why they can’t and/or won’t make this change.

They are talking about whatever discount you got from the agency. It’s possible you got a deal with pricing unattainable elsewhere. So have you checked the cost of booking through Disney? I would do so before doing anything rash.

bumbershoot, this TA abides by all Disney's policies. In fact the confirmations we are sent are from Disney themselves with WDW's cancellation policy on it. According to my cancellation policy I can cancel with a full refund up to 5 days before arrival. Like I stated even Disney told me all the TA has to do is call and have the tickets put on the new reservation which precedes our original reservation. I sent the TA an email saying this is what I want or I'm cancelling and booking through Disney themselves.

You are correct. We have 8/7-8/10 booked at POFQ and then 8/10-8/17 booked at WL. If we booked through Disney we couldn't do WL, but we could do the entire 10 day stay at POFQ for less which wouldn't bother us a bit.

This is common with packages and not with room-only plus tickets. It sounds as if the TA has booked some sort of meeting or convention room plus special tickets for you because regular 7-day MYW hopper plus tickets would have 7 pluses, not one. Typically, meeting tickets have a day before which they cannot be used and after which, they are no longer valid.

Have you given the TA a chance to respond yet? Do they work weekends? Marionnette is right - your room was either booked through the wholesale or convention/groups department (the one day water park ticket gives it away as that is something offered with convention tickets). The TA would have to call that particular department to get this changed and their hours differ from Walt Disney Travel Co. hours. Plus, there have been a lot of glitches in the groups department system lately. Yes, the TA should be able to make this change, but if they don't, you have some good back-up plans.
