Just watched a Fresh Baked vid in which it's claimed that Disney has cancelled Fast Passes for Pirates. Has anyone else heard something about this? I'll be at the park tomorrow and see if I can learn anything.

Here's the FB vid:

Another Disney news site that comes across internal documents time to time reported it earlier this week.

My husband and I were at DL earlier this week... No fastpasses for Pirates

If this is true, yeah! I agree totally w Fresh Baked. Pirates is a people eating machine. FP makes no sense. Right now, I don't think they need more FP rides to create value for $10/day Max Pass. And when SWL opens, those new premiere rides will certainly have FP and justify whatever price hike they want to roll out for Max Pass at that time.

There has to be more to the story of why. There is no way Disney has suddenly “seen the light” and decided it was a bad idea after all, they already made that call and decided it was good. And they already would have had the logistics of where to put the FP cue worked out. Imho something else behind the scenes brought this plan to a screeching halt.

I was shocked when we went a couple of weeks ago at how long the lines were. I’d never seen the line so long or waited as long. I wish it was getting MP. It was easy to get on in the morning but one morning it was down and then impossible to get on when it reopened.

I've been stalking the DL app frequently for our upcoming trip. I haven't seen FP return times on it for several days.

I hope they removed it. Maybe they listened to the feedback from guests. It would have made a real bottleneck problem in that area!
It was never turned on. They installed the barcode scanners but when it came back after the refurb they didn’t turn it on.

I've been wondering if it's truly cancelled or just delayed until Disney decides to increase the price of MaxPass. They will need some talking point to make the price increase sound like it's because you are getting additional services. Now that they put the infrastructure back in, they can still turn it on whenever they feel like. It wouldn't surprise me terribly if with a MaxPass price increase, Disney spins what a value it still is since you can now get this, this, and this and Pirates fastpass too with it.

Dang it! I was so excited for this. It makes me wonder if they'll only have it during the holidays like they do with HMH. I'm willing to bet they will, especially since they already added the infrastructure.

Haunted mansion has fastpass full time. It went to full time fastpass when they installed the hat box ghost.

I'm surprised people think it doesn't need FP. The lines are super long and surprisingly slow despite it being a large capacity ride with two boats loading at once. The one in WDW is much less crowded.

I was at the park a few hours ago and asked a CM in NOS if FPs are truly being cancelled for POTC. She said she didn't think so because people are still being trained on it. We'll see what happens...

FP would make the lines longer.

I've timed what felt like a horribly long line before, and it's never anywhere near what I thought it was.

Pirates at DL is much better, so of course people want to go on it. But also, the line at MK is physically very big. You don't realize how long it is until you encounter it as a walkon, and you have to walk 18 years to get anywhere. It takes a LOT of people. But IMO and experience, FP made the lines for it...longer.

I've never waited more than 20 minutes, even when the line is super long and snakes up the bridge towards Adventureland.
