Whoa..Annual Pass Increase - Effective 10/4/15

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but new Universal Studios Hollywood annual passes are out for comparison:

GOLD: $299 - valid 312 days - (blackouts mainly summer weekends, Christmas week)
CA resident PLUS: $199 - valid 244 days - (blackouts most weekends, all summer peak)
CA resident: $139 - valid 182 days - (blackouts except offpeak weekdays)

Single day admission has not been updated yet, but expect it to be higher than the $95 current once HP opens.

Pretty dramatic increase compared to the previous no blackout pass, but a lot of value if you go there a lot during the year for its 6 whole rides. Will be interesting to see if costco offers anything. I think their last offering was $85 for something similar to the CA resident PLUS.

Costco has a pass right now. $94.99 (price of a one-day admission) gets you the 175 days of admission pass. This was especially great for us, as we are Arizona residents, and would only be able to buy the gold level. I have been unable to determine what benefits come with the pass, but for the price, you can't beat it. We were going to go for a day anyways, but now we have the opportunity to go more!

They are selling fast over here, and the workers said they don't know if they're going to restock.

I just wanted to update and say that when I went to redeem my Premium AP voucher last week I received a Premium AP and not a Signature Plus. So I am guessing it really must have depended on the CM at the ticket booth as to what you got.

At any rate, I am happy to get another year at the old rate. Had a great NYE trip. We savored every last minute of NYE as we really doubt we will pay the extra for the Signature Plus. DCA was almost empty. I would love it if Disney perhaps allowed us into DCA instead of DL. We would happily ring in the New Year there and not crowd up Disneyland.

Are you sure you got a Premium pass and not a Signature pass? From what I understand, there's now a Signature and a Signature Plus. I believe the only difference is that the Signature Plus has no blackout dates and the Signature has the 2 weeks at Christmas time blocked out. How much was your new pass?

Yeah, I bought two Premium vouchers before the switch to Sig and Sig Plus. I held onto them until last week when I redeemed them. I was interested to see what I got because lots of people reported getting the Sig Plus. But I linked my pass to my account and it clearly says Premium. The CM who helped us also told us we were getting Premium passes.

So not sure exactly why or how, but just reporting back. :)

Oooooo! You were smart to buy the vouchers! My pass expires in Sept and I'm not sure what I'm going to do then.

I was browsing Twitter that night when Disney hiked the prices. So I saw what was happening as it unfolded. I had a quick discussion with the husband and we hit the buy button! Literally 10 minutes after we did, you could no longer get a Premium AP. So crazy! The CM at the ticket booth said we were probably going to be one of the last people to redeem the remaining vouchers. We had to redeem them by 12/31/15 and ended up redeeming them at night on 12/30/15. Whew!!

Huh. Interesting. I redeemed my premium vouchers on November 25. They were bought in February direct from the Disneyland website. They were processed as signature plus passes.

This is interesting news. Friends bought them at the Disney Store after the update, they bought the Premium, they had expiration dates of 12/31/2016. When they used them on the 2nd of Jan, they got Signature Plus passes. Weird that you got a Premium pass since the leads claimed they are no longer on the system to print.

Yes, I had heard that the CMs couldn't even print Premiums anymore. But our CM had no trouble. She actually processed everything very quickly, congratulated us on getting Premiums at the old price, and had us on our way in about 5-7 minutes. She didn't seem confused at all about it.

My AP login says we have Premiums and all our receipts printed the Premium discount. So it is very curious. I am chalking it up to another Disney anomaly.

When I bought a new So Cal Select my online account incorrectly showed So Cal for a few weeks. And my receipts all show Deluxe for the dining discount. I think they group discounts together.

Was this for a new AP or a renewal? We had vouchers purchased in 2/2015 which we used for renewals in November. Even though we were given Signature Plus passes, our online account showed us as PAPs until our actual expiration date. Then the account started showing Signature Plus. If yours was a renewal and your expiration date hasn't passed, it's possible that your account will change after your exp. date.

Hmmm...I shall keep an eye on the website login to see if it changes. A bit weird, isn't it?

It was a new AP. We let ours lapse earlier this year and took a break from Disneyland. We bought the vouchers online right before the latest price increase. We redeemed them for brand new APs last week.

But an earlier poster said that their AP status changed online a couple weeks after they registered it. So perhaps mine will as well.

I did not look online at our accounts, but this is what the CM who process our vouchers told us... We would keep our premium passes until the expiration date and then they would switch to Signature Plus.

I do have to say that I would have expected Disney to have a plan in place for something like this. The fact that there seem to be so many different possibilities seems rather silly.

I guess it was weird but it didn't surprise me because the stuff behind the AP login hasn't been that great. Like the fact that they don't display a rate calendar for hotels like they used to. It was also a little disappointing that they didn't accidentally give me the higher level pass, but oh well.

True. The AP portal does leave a lot to be desired. I shall keep an eye out to see if my AP status changes. I miss the hotel calendar too!

Just one in the court if you're gonna get an AP, include the parking at least on one in your group. Ala Sea World, $20 a day is a lot of shill out for a space.
