As mentioned previously, I've been working on painting crafts every day since Christmas night.. Two items are for specific individuals - but I really wasn't giving much thought to what I would do with the other pieces when they were done.. Just basically painting them for the fun of it..:)

Well my Dson-in-law's cousin dropped by this afternoon and came down to my craft room to say hello.. As soon as she saw all the finished projects lined up on the one counter she wanted to know if they were for sale.. I told her I hadn't really thought about it and she responded that there were 3 items that she wanted to buy.. (Actually 4, but the 4th one is the one I'll be sending to my DD out west..) She asked how much I wanted for them and I really didn't know how to answer - considering I've just been doing this because I enjoy it - not to take to craft fairs or anything of that nature..

She offered me $80 for the 3 items!!!! HUH??????? I was stunned and told her the most I would accept was $75.. She agreed and now I'm $75 richer - just because I decided to have some "fun"..:yay::yay:

Is this one of those "everything happens for a reason" scenarios? She said she'll be back in a few weeks and she's hoping that I'll have additional items of interest to her done by then so she can purchase them as well..:thumbsup2

As for what the 3 items were:

The "Welcome Sign" - around the size of a turkey platter.. It's decorated with 2 squirrels; some flowers; tree branches; and the words "Welcome" (which are made out of tree branches as well)..

The Rocking Horse with toys - that I personally was not happy with, but she loved it and is going to put it in her DD's room..

And last but not least, "The Schoolhouse Bird House".. The school is perched on the top of a tree base, with flowers traveling down the side; two school books at the base with 3 red apples; etc.. (Her DH is a teacher - loves birds -and she thought it would look nice in his den at home..)

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I was actually going to end up making "money" off of something I was just doing to pass the time and have fun..

Wonder what will happen when I move on to the quilts???? :goodvibes

I'm hoping to get some photos taken of the other projects I still have left - and those I'll be finishing in the weeks ahead - but then comes the hard part.. How to post them here..

I've never posted photos anywhere on the internet - except when I was selling on eBay - so I don't have the slightest clue how to do it..:confused3

When I get all the photos taken, I'll be sure to come back here and BEG for help - LOL..:rotfl:

Congrats on selling your work! That's awesome.
Pretty sure you'll make A LOT more money on the quilts though. They are a big ticket item.

Wonderful! You can use the money to buy more craft supplies. :)

My thoughts exactly! :)

I don't need anymore painting supplies - brushes I ordered have already arrived and are GREAT - still have plenty of projects to paint - tons of paints in all sorts of shades - but when I switch over to quilting, I'm pretty sure there are going to be some supplies that I'll need for that..:)

I'm still shaking my head over this.. "Selling" anything was the LAST thing I had on my mind when I decided to immerse myself in these projects! :goodvibes

But the quilts will take a lot longer to finish...

C.Ann - Congrats on creating items that people like so much they want to buy them, its a wonderful feeling to get some validation ::yes:: .

agnes!

C.Ann, bet your projects are beautiful! I am so happy your fun creative hobby is not only bringing you joy, but some spare change! :goodvibes

When you're ready to post some pictures download them to one of the sites such as photobucket, etc. It's very simple and you'll get the hang of posting pic in no time! :thumbsup2

Congratulations:yay:
How exciting for you and yes please I would love to see some photos of your work.

Wouldn't it be great if you could make money at doing something you love to do? Maybe it's time to think about commissioning out your work to your SIL's cousin and move on to quilting later on?

Congratulations!

I would stick with the painting! I think those will sell great! For Christmas about 12 years ago, this man that I worked with brought us all presents from his wife's hobby--painting ceramics. I got a spoon rest that holds three spoons. I love that thing!! It's been through everything and still looks brand new. I have no idea what it costs to make them or what it costs to buy them since it was a gift, but I still love it to this day and still think of them often for giving it to me.

Wow, C.Ann, congrats! (You should have taken the whole $80, you are worth it! :thumbsup2) Hope you can post some pics! Those "Welcoms Signs" sound REALLY neat!
