So many disers seems to have their nose stuck up in the air about life and things in general. Who would drown if it start rainning today? It seems that people often post self-rightous anwers to simple question and want the world to think and act like they do.
Often I have people say that disney is the best and nothing can compare to it. Well disney is not the best and their are other hotel and cruiselines that are better. I'm a dvc owner,so I don't hate disney, but the comments that some people make on the boards are just dishearting and off the top

It the internet hard "rear" syndrome. People don't have enough guts to say what they think in real life, but they are more than willing on the anonymous net.

Saying that "Disney is the best" isn't something you can really argue too much with, as it is nothing more than opinion. I've stayed in much nicer hotels than anything I've stayed at on Disney property (and I'm a DVC member too, btw), but I happen to prefer the type of service I've received over the years there. It's all a matter of personal taste. Same goes for the cruise. We're taking a 7 day cruise in about three weeks on the Disney boat...and you couldn't pay me to go on a Carnival cruise or any other company. Just not my thing. But with Disney, I know that my entire family will be entertained during the whole trip, and the focus will be on the family as a whole, not just towards the adults.

You also have to remember, this is a Disney board, and some of these people - myself included - have been coming here for years not just because we love the community we've found here, but out of a shared love for Disney. Frankly, you'd have to be nuts not to expect some heavy criticism of a stated opinion that Disney doesn't measure up to some competition.

But then...it wouldn't be the first time I'd been referred to as a "Disney snob,", so maybe you have a point, after all.

hey 4formickey-how ya doing??? no nose in the air here-firmly pointed down (or i'll trip over one of the gazillions of moving boxes we have'nt unpacked yet -yup we finaly did as we discussed on the cruise, sold the house, moved into a rental and will be searching for a new place out of state ).

i LIKE disney, i appreciate the service and quality i receive in their product, but i recognize it to be just that-a product. i do not live and breathe disney-there are plenty of other vacation destinations that i enjoy as much or more (as do dh and the kids).

as far as "snobbish" comments on the boards-i just figure alot of folks utilize the anonimoty of the boards as a means of a cheap mental health maintainance-people post things they would likely think, but never say out loud for fear it would'nt sound "right". i can deal with that-i cannot deal, however, with people who seem to take joy in posting vile, mean spirited responses to people genuinly seeking advice, guidance or information-but fortunatly there are lots of good, decent people on this board who knock those types down a few notches.

We need to stop flaming people because we think different from them. Disney is a product with great marketing. One lady posted a thread and for a whole 2 days she did not update the information. People where saying all types of bad things about her. She did reply and she stated that she has two small kids at home and was busy taking care of them. Some times it is sad the way people post their mess-up ideas and way of thinking as rightful and just!

I was thinking the same thing. The reality is that everyone is judgemental and snobbish to a point, and everyone thinks that their opinion is right.

Sure, it'd be nice if people could be more accepting of the opinions of others and to be able to state thier own opinions without flaming or downgrading others. However, there are many times when people try to do so and others still accuse them of flaming - opinion comes into play even in how things come across. Sometimes when I think people are being downright nasty, there are those that defend them - and other times I find myself defending people (even if their opinion is different that mine) because I think they're just stating their opinion.

That's the problem with opinion.
