May 6th was empty. Space Mountain line was never more than 20 minutes, to give one example of how empty it was. Thunder Mountain, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Buzz and Tower of Terror were walk-ons all day long. Toy Story Mania was 30 minutes in the peak of the afternoon.

Only Splash Mountain had a line, but it was a very hot day (oddly enough, though, when the line was around 45 minutes, the fast pass return time was in 40 minutes).

I am confused? I thought Space Mountain was closed form April 12th until some time in the fall for refurbishment? If it is open, does anyone know when they are closing as we are going June 14th - June 24th; this is one of our favorites!

It is closed at WDW not at Disneyland.

Its a good time to come. Mondays through Thursdays it seems like everybody is a local. And you can always tell how heavy the concentration of locals at the park is on any given day by counting how many people are reciting the Haunted Mansion spiel in the elevator room (keep that in mind when you go on HM).

Though there will still be crowds on weekends, especially Sunday.

Oh, and because Peter Pan is closed, there seems to be a spill-over effect to Pinocchio, which is usually a walk-on but seemed to have 10-15 minutes all day long.

There were a lot of people at Disneyland 5,6,7th but the lines were not bad at all. Fantasyland was of course swamped but isn't it always, lol.

The longest wait time I saw posted was Indy at 40 mins. BUT that was after it had been briefly closed that day (I think Wed.).

Okay - I can't imagine people waiting 15 minutes for that ride - I think I would be sadly disappointed if I waited that long. My kids LOVE 'Toads' and we have waited 25 for that and much more for Peter Pan (got in line at park closing time and waited about 45 minutes - by the time we got off all other fantasyland rides were long closed).

Thank you all for your quick responses. We are in the planning stages for our next trip and I was thinking that the Tues-Fri of the first full week of May would be a good time. It sounds like the crowds are pretty manageable......

Just remember that many rides close for refurb during this time. Peter Pan is currently closed, as is the Astro Orbiter. Pirates of the Caribbean recently closed for a week, and Star Tours was closed for a few days recently. The Colombia and canoes don't run, there is very little street entertainment, you risk no Fantasmic! showings, fewer characters are out, some dining locations are not open, the parade at DL only runs once a day, etc., etc. And, the parks both open late and close very early Monday-Thursday.

Though, yes, the crowds are nice, but there is a trade-off.

The best time to go, IMO, is "off-season peak" when Disney starts running peak season operations, but crowds are still manageable: mid-March and late August.

I was in the park yesterday (may 9th(my bday)) and we NEVER waited more than 20 minutes to get on a ride, and that was a saturday! Seriously, we pretty much just walked right on to all the rides, the only one we really waited for was Soarin' and that wait was only like 20 minutes. We are hoping the rest of our trip will be the same1

I was there 3rd- 7th, and the only busy day was Sunday the 3rd - it was pretty crazy! Other than that we were pleasantly surprised- no waits for anything really!

We were there on Friday, and whilst there were alot of people - the ride lines were decent. We waited 10 minutes for Casey, Jr. and 5 mins for Storybook Canal and this was around 4pm in the afternoon.

I did notice a huge mass of people start entering the park right around dusk, but that is typical for a Friday night, when most locals hit the parks for dinner and fireworks.

We were there from May 3rd to May 9th. As stated previously, there were lots of people but the lines weren't bad. I think the longest line we waited in was for a Dole Whip. (yum yum)

It did seem to get busier on Friday, May 8th but by then we had pretty much done everything anyway.

We were there 5/5-5/10, got progressively busier--but that is what we expected for the weekend. We didn't wait long for any rides, but we used FPs for all the big ones, and stayed the heck away from Dumbo, Nemo, Toy Story, & Jumping Jellyfish when they had crazy lines... in fact we didn't try to ride anything that looked like more than a 10 minute wait, and we rode every ride in the 2 parks at least once, most of them 2-3 times, just by planning ahead.

We went over Mother's Day weekend last year too... and we did get to see F! then... and this trip the only things in refurb were Peter Pan, AstroOrbiter, and King Triton's Carousel (and F! which was a little disappointing!) But the parades were running at least once a day, fireworks on Fri-Sun nights, and Aladdin on most days, so it was a great time as far as we were concerned!

We were there on may 6 & 7 and the crowds weren't bad at all. We also waited the longest for a dole whip (30 minutes...).

The longest line we saw was 45 min for Splash Mountain, we got a fastpass there. Toy Story Midway Mania was 40 minutes in the afternoon of may 7, but we did that one in the morning with a 10 minute wait.

We found it a bit dissapointing that we didn't see many photopass photographers because we were in a photopass share... everything else was perfect.
