Do they ever do a show when the park first opens? If the first show is at 11:00, can you obtain a fast pass for that show, or do you just have to be in line. If I cannot get a fast pass as soon as the park opens, how early do you think I need to be in line? Keep in mind I will be there the week after Easter but not on a EMH day.

Thanks,

Stephanie

I was there in September and the fastpass booths are closed. I am very worried that they may close this attraction down. WWTBAM-PI is my favorite attraction.

I had no trouble getting into the attraction even without fast pass. The shows were 80% or so filled most times.

Yes, sadly, FASTPASS is closed for Millionaire. This stinks, as I love Millionaire and I hate waiting in that hot, outdoor, unthemed queue.

You can still wait inside. They will let as many as can fit inside the waiting area that used to be for fast passes. I did not see the room fill up during the shows that I attended. You can also wait outside in the old standby line and they let people come into the show from the door for the standby line. When I was there in September, the attraction was only 80% full at most.

I am not sure how they would handle a capacity crowd.

Hello ~

I was there in Sept (during all the crazy weather) and I just walked in at 10:45am and got the fastest finger row and was 3rd to the hot seat...the first show is 11am and if you're hanging around the area, sit on the benches and watch for the CM to open up and when they ask if you want 'front row' say heck yeah!!!

Have fun and win big!

You can watch it on TV, on that Challenge channel. They are showing WWTBAM classic (1999/2000). I love their show! What channel are they showing new episodes?

Don't know if this is a precursor to bad news, but Disney has permanently shut down this attraction at DCA in Anaheim. Crowds were sparce there. How are they in Florida?

Could the original version in Florida be next?

I have been worried about this also. According to someone on the rumors board, WWTBAM-PI at MGM is safe. I have heard from a friend that the crowds at the DCA version were not that great. Ever since September when I saw that the fast machines shut down, I have been worried.

I love WWTBAM-PI. I have made it to the hot seat a number of times and can not wait to go back and try again.

It wasn't that crowds were sparse at WWTBAM at DCA. Almost every show there would be a good sized crowd - the problem was they were mostly DL AP holders - many at all the shows in a day. I was at the last show of the day back in July and indeed they pointed out some who had been there for every show!

While obviously pleasing to the AP's who went to the shows, it wasn't drawing people in.

Now at MGM (and WDW in general) the story is much different, as you don't have the percentage of AP holders, nor the average number of trips made by an AP holder.

Still, with the prime time show itself a fading memory (unless they ressurect it again for sweeps), you never know. However this is hopeful (from millionairetv.com):

COME JOIN MILLIONAIRE AT WALT DISNEY WORLD® JANUARY 13 - 16TH
Millionaire will be taping at the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-PLAY IT! attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida. We're offering travel packages which include tickets for a Millionaire taping, discounted resort accommodations and Park Hopper® tickets to all four Walt Disney World® Theme Parks.

When we were at DCA in July we went to WWTBAM and I know what "Mr Shiny" means about the AP holders. There was a group of them at every show we went to. There was one show we were at that the first THREE fastest finger winners had to decline sitting in the hot seat because I assume that they had been in the seat within the last 30 days. I've never seen that happen at WDW.

I saw somebody decline for a show at the Studios last week, but I think they just didn't want to be up there. Although they may have been a CM.

They can't shut down Millionaire! I just figured out how to get into the hotseat! I've made it to 125K and 250K, need to get back so I can get my free cruise!!! :) Besides, it's very entertaining!

So. How do you get into the hot seat? I mean, really. The last time we were there some 8yo girl got into the hot seat(and i know she didn't know the answers!) Her mom escorted her to the hotseat and proceeded to answer everything upt the the $125,000 question when she stumbled. Then I notieced that both mom & dad had on matching prize T-shrits and the little girl spilled the beans that they were there on their Disney cruise prize. They gae her her hats and the pins, and i think a T-shirt. :headache: It really put me off.

So, what's the big secret?

Cathy

I would love to learn any tips to getting into the hot seat myself. I wouldnt do very go up there, but my husband would do great!

Thee are two ways to get on the hot seat. There will normally be a fastest finger question to determine the first hot seat contestant (in the old days, the attraction would have carryover contestants from prior shows because they would not cut the show off too early). There are 24 possible combinations and it is mainly a matter of luck on getting on. I have made it on the hot seat only once by the fastest finger question and it was a matter of having an easy questions and letting my fingers hit the buttons as fast as possible. When in doubt, just his a random combination and you may have a chance.

The other way to get on the hot seat is to have the high score when the first contestant is eliminated. Since MGM wants to have a fastest finger round, there is rarely more than two contestants in the hot seat per show. Your score is based on speed and accuracy. If you miss a question, then you are out of the running.

There are some hints for speed. One is that the system will take your answer when the third answer is revealed. You need to have chosen your answer by then and be pressing the correct button repeatedly. Sometimes, you need to guess Answer D before if the answer is revealed. If you are sure that none of the first three answer are correct, then go with D as soon as the third answer is revealed. It is a risk but could help your score.

Good luck. Getting onto the the hot seat is a blast.

I can't see them closing Millionaire at WDW. Attendance may not require fastpass but it is close to capacity. Besides, Studios needs the attraction.

It's certainly my favorite...take a look at my counter...

Should I be ashamed cause I love Millionaire? I am an AP holder and it is my very favorite attraction. I have been in the hot seat every trip we have taken since I figured out how to play the game. LOL I got lucky on my last trip and actually was able to answer every single question, all day long, and had to decline the hot seat each time it was offered. I am convinced it was only cause I was not eligible having been in the hot seat a few days previous. Yes, I am one who will play all day long if given the chance. My hubby enjoys watching me play. Reminds me of how proud my dad used to be of his hunting dogs. LOL I have even gotten to be the Phone a Stranger and that was scarier than being in the hot seat. Is one thing to mess up for myself but another to mess up someone else. I might not know my modern painters but I sure do know which ones are NOT right. (grin) Lady should have waited and asked me what Catherine the Greats real name was as only someone as strange as me would know it was Sophia. I sure do not know it all and neither does anyone else but on any given day, if the questions fall just right almost anyone can win and that is the fun of the game. Of course, the more you play the more chances you have and those who are only in the park for the day are not likely to spend as much time as we Millionaire nuts can. Is awfully good publicity for DW though. I am hoping it continues.
