Who took the items leftover from the reception at the end of the night?

We are having a dessert party after the reception and was wondering who gathered the things leftover from the reception at the end of the night like centerpieces, guest book, favors, cake server/topper and gifts. Do I have to designate someone in my wedding to collect this and take it to our room in between the reception and dessert party? How did this work for everyone else?

Hi there. WE just came back from our wedding and had a similar situation. We ended up having to designate our bridal party to go around and pick up the centerpieces, photos, toasting glasses, cake server and knife, etc... to pack up. They took it on the bus and then we had a few of them help carry it back up to the room after the dessert party. Our EM told us to buy a rubbermaid tote from Walmart to make it easier. It worked. And then we returned the tote to Walmart for a refund. ;) We had originally wanted to ship our centerpieces home for our NJ reception, but after we got back to FL after our Aruba honeymoon, we just didn't want to deal with it. We only spent like $10 on each of them and didn't think it was worth the money to ship them home. We can always make more if we really wanted to... :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. The rubbermaid tote is a good idea. I will have to ship my centerpieces back, they are too nice to throw out and I am using them for our home reception back in NJ.

Was there enough time to gather the items at the end of the reception before the buses came for the dessert party? That is what I worry about.

I had to designate someone but in the end my Em collected everything up and we did have alot of stuff, I also bought the plastic containers at walmart I think I had 3 full of stuff. We took them out to the bus and that's where they stayed until after the DP along with the cake.
I'm sure you will be fine for time, It won't take that long to collect things up especially if you have a few people to do it.

My family members who set things up also took things down and brought them back to my parents room. Some of the things like personal flowers, our watches, cake, and unopend gifts/cards were brought up to our suite by our bridal party. Our EM had informed us that if they had to do the work we' get charged so we made sure to designate jobs to people prior to our wedding. Everything went smoothly in the end.

We had them start getting everything together about 10 mins before we knew we'd be leaving. The bus will wait. They won't leave without anyone. ;)
