My husband owns a blue green timeshare that he had before we got married not quite two years ago. The timeshare thread on the boards is for DVC only. He has Bluegreen. I contacted the sponsor (The Timeshare Store) of the DVC board and they only deal with DVC. Poor guy he married a Disney freak. We plan to always vacation at Disney ( he is such a sweetheart). Does anyone know a realtor who deals in re-sales? We are going to sell at a huge discount. We can then look into DVC. :goodvibes

My DH & I own bluegreen as well. Even though we always vacation at Disney, we still won't sell. They have fantastic properties about 2 miles from WDW. The fountains is really nice. We go to that property at least twice a year as well as occasional stays on grounds.

www.tug2.net is a forum for timeshare, you may find idea on how to sell the timeshare. An important point is that you should never pay anyone to sell a timeshare.

And you can exchange into DVC through RCI now if Bluegreen is associated with them.

try the yahoo board for bluegreen. There is a guy there, with the name BocaBum. He is a referral agent for Pinnacle, which is bluegreens authorized reseller. We are bluegreen owners as well, but have often considered buying DVC. We are sticking with bluegreen. Good luck to you! Also, you can now book nightly stays through RCI with bluegreen, no longer a need to book a full week. The exchange rate is actually pretty good, no premium it seems for DVC.

Thank you everyone for the replies! I will definitely check out the forum. You can trade Bluegreen for DVC? :confused3 I'm not very timeshare savy lol.

Yes. You exchange through the company RCI and then book through them to get DVC stays.

Actually, now, you don't technically have to "exchange" or deposit. You can get an RCI points membership free now to Bluegreen owners, and then just use your points to book the DVC. has to be done through RCI, but it is a new program they have been advertising. Honestly, your hubby will probably lose money trying to sell and then buy into DVC. If you can get some good exchanges, your best bet is to keep it and see how it goes. You never know, there may be a time when you don't want to vacation all the time at Disney. Shameful, I know! LOL

I really appreciate all the suggestions. :goodvibes But nooooooooo to keeping the Bluegreen. DH doesn't care if he loses money when the timeshare sells. He knows someone will get a bargain. It's a reminder of a very bad time in his life. He told me if I can sell it he will consider DVC. We are interested in the "perks" available to DVC members.

It seems like it should sell. He has a ton of points, points available right away, maintenance fees pd etc. I just don't know much about timeshares. :confused3

scribing :) ..my husband will wanna read this

my husband family has one in nags heads they wanna sell..

any takers?? lol

:lmao:

As another poster has recommended I would go to the Timeshare Users Group board to learn about the best way to sell your timeshare. They will also have lists of agents who will actually make an honest effort to sell your timeshare and not just rip you off.

Check out www.timeshareforums.com. BOCA BUM, who someone else suggested is a moderator on there I believe. He is very knowledgable, will NOT steer you wrong. You may have to sign up to post, but it is free. Go to the BLUEGREEN Thread. I'm sure you will get much more info over there. They also have a DVC thread among many others. BOCA has been in the business a long time and very reputable.

Hate that you're selling Bluegreen, we love ours and I am a DISNEY freak too. Love staying on the grounds, but THE FOUNTAINS in Orlando, which is BG, is just as nice or nicer than some of the DIS and only 10 minutes away on I Dr. We have stayed there several times and will be staying in June again when we go to Disney. You should try to check it out.

I hope you are able to sell easily and that is sweet of your DH to be happy someone will be getting a bargain.

About DVC perks just be sure you educate yourself thoroughly before buying. there is of course the "perks" of being somewhat obligated to stay at a very nice Disney resort at least every two to three years. But that's really the only reliable perk. Everything else can come and go and is not guaranteed. So just be sure you read a lot about DVC before you buy. That said, we are very happy with our DVC ownership. :)
