who to book with?

Dana at www.micdan.com she has been my TA for 2 years now and has always gotten me the best deal, or told me when I got a great deal and I should jump on it.

I also vote for Dana at cruise planners. Go to micdan.com and then call the number. Leave mess. for Dana. She will def. call you back. We switched from DCL to her and she saved mucho $$$$$$$$$.

My vote goes to Dana as well...she is GREAT!!! She'll try hard to get the best price possible. I learned about her on the Disboards, and I sure am glad I did. When you leave her a message, she will call you back as soon as she can. If you are going to call her in November, she will be on a Disney cruise herself. She said she would be back by Nov 22 (she told me this so I wouldn't worry if I tried to call her to pay the balance on my upcoming cruise).

Good luck booking a cruise!! I'd certainly give Dana a chance to save you money.

Thanks for the referral - I just requested a quote from her (not for Disney) - I live on the West Coast and we are doing a Moms weekend away on a cruise and I had NO IDEA who to use - Thanks!

i am using Dreams Unlimited (dis board sponsor) i have sue ellen for my TA- she is fantastic- always makes a point of answering my questions quickly- and believe me, i have many questions:rolleyes:

the price i got for a 7 day in may was $1000 less then DCL plus you get a rebate from DU

so far i am extremely happy with the service they provide

you are able to link to them from the top of this board

:wave2:

We booked w/ Costco (before we heard about Dana). When I called her to check rates, hers were identical to Costco's. We saved several hundred dollars going through Costco vs. Disney.

I have used Dreams Unlimited for Disney World vacations in the past and have been very happy with service, they have always been on top of getting me discounts even before I ask for them.

Since they sponsor this board, I also chose them for my 2005 cruise. My questions always answered in 24 hours or less and I like their customer service.

Then I decided to book an October 2006 cruise and "just for fun" decided to request a quote from agencies that I often see on these boards.

So from Dreams Unlimited, Mouse Ear Vacations, local AAA office, Platinum Travel, and All Seas have all given me quotes within $5 of each other!

So I'm not sure if it's time of year, or how far out I'm booking or what but I was really surprised that they were so close.

I did leave a message for Dana about 15 hours ago, haven't heard from her yet but I'll let you know if she is able to beat what everyone else is offering.

While I appreciate your loyalty to your TA, it doesnt seem fair to requests quotes from other TAs "just for fun" .

dsneprincess-

Maybe the words "just for fun" weren't appropriate? I am always looking for the best deal. I have not yet booked a 2006 cruise. So for price comparisons I checked with all of the agencies noted on these boards because I wanted to know for myself if there was a huge difference in price (customer service & perks/gifts not withstanding).

I was very surprised that all of them offered me quotes so close to each other as I would have expected more "variety" if you will. So all things being equal, I would probably book with Dreams Unlimited again because they have provided me with great service in the past.

But now throw in to the mix that the reason I didn't get an "immediate" response from Dana is because she is away at a conference but her office beeped her and she took the time to talk to me from there. End result, she could save me $250 off the quote of what everyone else offered (and she's very, very nice).

Is it not appropriate to ask for quotes from multiple agents?

I use All Seasons.
They have their prices right on their board, a 1-800 # to call and speak to someone immediately and I have always gotten an answer to a question quickly.
I understand wanting to get the quotes to get a feel for the price structure but have always found All Season's prices to be the best, plus the ease of contacting them.
That said we don't have a Costco travel agency in Canada, and don't feel like sitting on hold for long periods of time for them.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thanks for the clarification. It seemed, from your original post that you were not shopping around with intentions of booking thru other TAs, but were simply having various TAs get you quotes with no intentions of booking thru whomever it may be, therefore wasting their time. I guess it was the use of the words " just for fun". It kinda of threw me. I, too, like to get the best service and deal possible, which is why I use Dana. What I love about her, is if I have a great deal from another source ( IE my September 19th 04 cruise I booked with AllSeas) that she can not beat, she told me to hop on it, that I got a wonderful deal.

If any of you are Active Duty, Retired military or dependents, definitely check with your ITT office on base for discounted rates. Also, if there's no Military / Florida Resident rate running when you book, they can reduce it if one does come up.

*Also check for airline rates there too....I've seen rates that saved over $1000 per person!

I have a post up about the great deal I got on my Mar 05 05
7 day with Karilyn at Vacations, Cruises and More. She was great (a Disney nut like all the rest of us, even owns DVC), explained everything completely and answered all of my silly questions.

I haven't heard back from Dana yet - Does anyone know if she is back in the office?

When did you get with her Karen? I would definitely give her a call.
