Who thinks the new pkgs are NOT a good deal?

I agree - although I do not think things will change any time soon.:(

We had booked the FTP @ the Poly for Oct. When AP rates came out at Swan/Dolphin I did the math and for LESS money I could stay at the Dolphin plus renew our AP's ( so that they can be used again for a Feb. trip) The savings was still about $300.

This package would in NO WAY benefit anyone who already has some sort of tickets (leftover PH's or AP's).

That having been said, I think that there are SOOO many people out there that just don't know better or don't have time to research or just don't want to have to deal with it. They just get the package because it "has everything" and they don't have to think.

I think this is the case more so than the faithful who frequent these boards, unfortunately. :(

I hope-like everyone else that this will be a "try and see" phase and that at some point when enough people stay off-site and/or at Swan/Dolphin that Disney will send us a peace offering.

I can tell you that for people participating in the Marathon weekend events the packages are not the way to go so it is no "deal" for them. Why spend money on UPH's if you are racing and then resting?? I bet you really want to spend a full day at the parks after running 26 miles! All this nonsense is crazy and it's making me upset:(

I'll bet the families of those exhausted Disney Marathoners would like something else to do than sit around and watch their masochistic loved one come back to life..:smooth: :) :Pinkbounc

After the marathon, DH showers, rests about an hour, we eat and go off to a park. :bounce: Sure he walks slow, but he's out and about. ;)
For him, it's best to walk after a marathon. Otherwise his legs stiffen up and he can't move. :jester:
You can always tell the marathoners. They are the ones who can't climb stairs for a few days. ;)
If Disney does in 2004 like they did last January, marathoners will be able to enter Pleasure Island for free marathon night, while those in their group pay only half price.
That's what we did last year and went to the comedy club.
I am hoping they do it again in 2004. I would also like to go to the Adventurer's Club.

Please tell me exactly what the schedule is for marathon weekend. We arrive on monday the 5th and would like to know how to schedule ourselves. What or where should we avoid, take advantage of etc.. It's only two of us so we're kinda light on our feet. Would love to hear from past marathoners and familiy members. Thanks!

I couldn't agree more with you CamColt:D

Just this morning I was telling DH how thankful I am to have secured a room at the Swan when the great AP rates were first offered. Unfortuantley a package is of no use to us as we have AP's.

With the Swan, we can stay at a deluxe hotel in a incredible location and not go to the poor house. We are staying two weeks so room cost is very important. The Swan is giving us the best "bang for the buck";)

I don't know if I did right or not. When it came time to buy my boyfriends and my PAP vouchers, the FTP had just started. We spent an entire day at the computer desk with a calculator deciding what would be best for us. We chose PAP's so we could do another visit next year. But we also based our decision on the room rates that AP holders were getting so far this year. We also looked at the history of AP Holder discounts. Now after watching how things are going, I don't think I did so well. I know the room rates are not a guarentee, but they were a strong selling point for us. My parents have PAP's and have been able to use the AP Holders rates so far this year. It just saddens me that this is happening. My boyfriend almost loves Disney (;) Thanks to me), but he happens to love the beach more. While sitting there I talked him out of a beach trip for a Disney Trip next year. I wouldn't have done that if I had known this was going to happen. Then when I heard about this package I seriously thought about not using the PAP vouchers until next year and get this package. This is not a good package no matter what they say. Oh well, I have to look at it this way.....I'm going to Disney twice in 1 calendar year. I guess I can give that a bounce! :D :bounce:

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, now to go break the news to my boyfriend that this package isn't that hot!:(
