Who stays in a Studio???

I'm a spoiled baby, I admit it. I whine if I don't have a boardwalk view, so we are always in a one-bedroom villa. However, DH is going down a week early to see some Braves games, and he's staying in a studio--he didn't even care what view he got!:earseek:

We have stayed in a studio, 1 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. We loved having the laundry and extra room, but those really use up the points (we only have 150 points, and we are holding).

Next September we are going to book a studio for the trip, and you know what.....they are great! We have the kitchenette, which I love. We can have breakfast and snacks in the room (even brought some sandwich stuff). The balcony is so nice. The resorts are great. We can't wait.

So rather than adding points, we are using studios for our trips. Later we will enjoy the larger units.

We don't spend very much time in our room. Most of our time is spent in the parks, shopping and dining out.

That's probably part of the reason DH insists on a 1 BR. He's not much of a park goer. He'd just as soon spend time just sitting on our balcony. Yes, staying in a studio leaves more points for "more trips", but we fly to WDW and can't afford to do that too often, as well as he only gets so much vacation, so when we go, he wants to go "first class", which to him means a 1 BR instead of a studio. If we lived closer, he got more vacation, and/or he liked to spend more time in the parks, it might be different.

My husband and I do....every January!

I would rather stay in a studio for two weeks or so than a 1 bedroom for a week!

We have tried the 1 bedrooms at OKW and BWV but prefer the studios because of the point difference.

It is very cold in January in Canada so the longer in Florida the better for me!

I don't know how many other people do this, but we stay in a studio for Friday and Saturday and then switch to a 1 bedroom for the rest of the week. We can't justify the points for a 1 bedroom on a weekend night. The studio is great for just 2 days. The kids usually don't start climbing the walls until after 2 days, so the timing is perfect. Also, we love to try out different resorts, so we always switch to another property.

DH and I have always stayed in a studio(s) for our trips even when DD, age 18, and friends go with us. That way we get 2 bathrooms which is a necessity for a trip with teenage girls. LOL. Since they are older, we don't have to worry about having connecting rooms either. I don't cook on vacation so I don't need the kitchen. It would be nice to have the washer and dryer in the room but DH and DD always pitch in and help with the laundry so it isn't too much of a hassle.

We also hope to take family and friends with us in the future and I think we will still get two studios so each couple has a bed instead of a sofa sleeper and their own space. If I were using my points, I don't think I could give up that king size bed to stay on the sofa. LOL.

I really do like staying in a studio. Of course, I haven't stayed in a one-bedroom. I'm very conservative though so I doubt if I could enjoy myself knowing how many more points they require. And, by staying in a studio, I get to go to WDW more often too!!!!!!

Who stays in a studio? NOT us!!! DH and I did it one trip about 5 years ago when it was just the two of us, but never again. It was no different than a hotel room. Not what we purchased DVC for.

DH and I stayed in a studio for a short trip(3 ngihts), but anyhting longer than that and we go for the 1 bedroom.

I must admit, my home resort is OKW, where they have two queen beds in the studio. I prefer the set up og the studios in the other resorts where there is a queen bed and a pullout couch. Makes it seem less "hotel-ly" and more like an apartment.

We just got back and saw the models of the new SSR studio and 1 & 2 bedroom units...beautiful!!!!!

When I had the entire family with me I had a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom.
When I took my dad I had a 1 bedroom, but when I go with just my immediate family its a studio for us.
I only have 170 pts. I wind up renting(buying) at least 50 points each year so I can stay more. I know, I should think about buying more, but right now with things happening in my family it is not a good idea.
I stayed at OKW last Jan for 9 points a night for 5 nights. I know I could have stayed at the AS for less than that, but the studio at OKW is huge. Much more room for the family and a fridge for our drinks and milk for bfst.
Our group consists of myself, my male "friend" his 17 year old son and my 19 year old son. My friend and I shared a bed, his son had the other bed, and my son slept on the twin aero bed. We had plenty of room to move around even with the bed filled up all day.
I like to get as many trips as I can with my points and the studios have been a great help with this.
Jan I will be staying in a 2 bedroom at OKW. Bringing along my three boys and their friends, it should be fun, and I get the King bed all to myself! Peggie

My husband and I are going to BW in December and staying
in a studio. My two adult sons and their friends are at OKW
right now in a two bedroom for a week's vacation. I guess that
is the reason we bought into DVC so our children could go first
class LOL.

Our first DVC trip was our last trip to WDW as non parents and we stayed in a studio at the BWV, the next trip we didn't have a lot of points so we stayed in a 1 bdrm at OKW for 4 days, and moved to a studio there for 3 days. What a let down..never go from a one bedroom to a studio in one trip! LOL
Since then, whenever we go we have a 1 bdrm, I can't do a studio with 2 kids.
When I took my mom to WDW last year just the 2 of us, I got a studio. I don't think I would ever get a 1 brm for 2 adults only.

Boy, so I agree with that! Our first stay in a 1 BR was a last minute decision, and there were no 1 BR's available the last night, so we had to switch to a studio. That probably contributes to DH's strong preferrence for 1 BRs. Maybe if we'd been able to do the studio first...

When my wife gets her way, a 1 bdrm.

When I win, a studio. It works out to about 50/50.

I'm not cheap, I'm frugal.

We do stay in a studio. Two adults and three children, one of which is an infant. We do it to conserve points, and reading one of the earlier posts in this thread feel that what I was worried about will come to pass for us.

My concern is it looks like we will have to add-on points, I guess through a resale, to allow us to stay in a 1 BR. We have avoided it like the plague because I feared that once we did it we'd never go back. We like to stay for two weeks and with only 200 points at VWL that's not enough for a 1 BR for that length of time. Looks like we might need to bite the bullet and begin looking for another contract!

Our first trip home will be a studio for me, dh, dd8 and ds4. I am waitlisted for vwl because I NEED more points. I figure with a boy and a girl sharing the pull out won't last long. We'll probably need to be in a 2 bdr within 3 years (with then dd11 and ds7). But for now I'm going to stay in a studio as long as they don't kill each other because I'd like to go twice a year!

I just booked a VWL studio for our 1st trip "home" next Oct 04 for DH, DS (who'll be 12) and myself
