Standing at the check-out line at the store. The clerk from the makeup counter comes to the line to tell you she can ring you out. You start to walk over there with her and someone standing in the aisle sees it and walks in front of you and gets helped first.

Who had the right of way?? :teeth:

And no, this hasn't ruined my life or even my day, but just a passing annoyance. :teeth:

I woud think the person next in line - but that is just me....

Glad it didn't ruin your day!

:)

You had the right of way. Whenever a clerk handpicks you to come to his/her register, then you are first in line. She pulled out to bring you over to her register. She should have told the person that arrived at the same time that she would be with them in a minute.

Absolutely!!!!! :thumbsup2

I for one, would like to congratulate you for not tripping her... But you can surely gloat about being right for the rest of the day! ~~smilie~~

I don't think there is anything you can do but follow the lead of the person working there.

You were right! and I would have loudly announced it especially to the clerk. I hope you said something to the clerk when it was your turn. The day I have had I agree with the poster who said they would have tripped the other lady.

When I was a teenager and worked at the mall, we were told that if a customer pushes to the front of the line, we were to make a mental note of who the customer was behind and wait on them when there place in line arrived.

Oohhh....this is one of my pet peeves. I hate when I'm in a line, and I'm next. A clerk opens the next register and says "I can help the next person in line", and the person in the BACK of the line runs over there. Ummm...which part of "next person in line" did you not understand??? Does it ruin my day? Of course not. But it does irk me while I'm standing there. ;)

You had the right of way. If the clerk had invited you to their new line from the back of the store, you still would've had the right of way.

To the people who are talking about tripping others etc - I hope I don't shop in the same stores as you! Chances are the other customer didn't even realise the cashier went to that till for a particular reason, they probably just thought they were lucky enough to spot a new till being opened...
:confused3 Personally I would have quite happily waited the two minutes it probably took for the other customer to be served. No biggie.

nope. The lady heard the cashier come get me and still went ahead of me.
No need for the confusion :confused3 , I said it didn't ruin my day. :teeth:

I thought it was a little rude, but not enough to bother saying anything.

Just wanted to hear if you all agreed or if I was crazy! :teeth:

Good golly miss molly! Don't you ever kid around? No, I wouldn't actually trip anyone. It was a joke! :duck:

:hippie: Life is too short to be dragged down by the actions of others!

Fair enough, I just thought it might have been an honest mistake - these things happen.

I know you said it didn't bother you (which is great), but it seemed to bother others a fair bit.

Oh, and I did realise that the tripping comment was a joke. I guess what I meant was that I would have just taken it in my stride and not let it bother me at all. Nevermind. :rolleyes1

I agreet that it was you as well espcecially since she told you!

The clerk should have helped your first and told the other person that she would be right with them as soon as she was finished helping you. :sunny:

This happens so often...argh. Last time though, the clerk told the other customer, she would take care of me first. :thumbsup2
