What are your favorite things to purchase there??

We have one here, I have never been in it - I am a Winco & Trader Joes kind of shopper

We buy nitrate/nitrite free turkey hot dogs, turkey bacon, and lunch meat. We also like their ground beef and salmon patties. Organic milk and butter are usually on our list too. Oh, and we love their fresh Seeduction bread.

I used to shop there for our meats, and such, but not anymore. We found a local farm that is 100% grass fed. Whole Foods even advertises that do send their beef cattle to the feedlot for a portion of their lives. I was very disappointed to hear about that.

I still do stop by to grab some fruits & veggies if I need them in a pinch, and I'm addicted to Zico water, and they're the cheapest around for it.

Beyond that, though, I think they've become part of the food complex that they originally sought to differentiate themselves from.

Whole Foods lost its luster for me when the one near us was shut down by the health department for being infested with rats.... Yuck!

Our DD LOVES to go to the one in Columbus, OH, and just look, when we are visiting my sis and her family.

....isn't that what they call 'irony'...?? [ ;) ]

...since my DH has Celiac, I shop there for gluten-free items.....

There's one 1 1/2 hours away from me in another town (we are slated to get one within the year).

I like that they have more natural products.

I don't buy everything there, but when I'm in that town I'll stop by and pick up some of my favorites. 365 Brand crackers and soda. Annies products. I'll check out produce, since they often run sales on them and thier meats or cheese. They carry bulk grains that are sometimes cheaper than box items (steel cut oats, granola, etc). They also carry a brand of fish 'burgers' that my step dad loves so I get those for him as well. (gotta love icechests) They also carry some items that are not found in the local walmart/targets in the midwest. I love walmart/target's but they don't always carry gourmet or specialty items. And the actual gourmet stores here charge an arm and a leg.

They can be pricey but some stuff is acceptable price wise and you gotta like that you can pick up anything and know that the chances of HFCS or artificial colors and flavors in like non existant.

We buy a variety of things there, but in general we shop more at our local grocery store. We do live 2 blocks from a Whole Foods which is why we go now and then. It's an easy walk to do for us and it's handy when I need items at the last minute or for produce since they are the same price as the regular store. Sadly ours does not have a huge selection of food as it is tiny. We have another one about 10 miles away that's much better.

I don't shop there.

Around here, we call it Whole Paycheck.

That is too funny! :)

I have bought only a few things there. Mainly some salt free nuts that are hard to find. I do find them to be very expensive. I priced and compared labels of FF vanilla yogurt there and at my regular grocery store. Woeful. More expensive not as good for you at WF. There were a few other items too, and after that I just stick to some hard to find stuff.

I went there more often when ours was still a Wild Oats. They used to have a lot more bulk items that I would stock up on. I still go in now and then and get dried beans, rice, oats, etc... They used to have bulk spices which I really liked but they did away with those.:sad2: Whenever I do make it in, I almost always stock up on whole wheat tortillas to store in the freezer. There's are a lot cheaper than the ones I get at the regular grocery.

I buy bulk herbs to make a pregnancy tea... raspberry leaves, nettles and lemongrass. I also get my prenatal vitamin there.

But holy moly, Handbag Lady is right...

:lmao:

I keep hearing other folks say that going organic doesn't cost more than "regular" grocery items. That is baloney! Nitrate free baloney, of course.

I buy bags upon bags of their granola-- the bins that have all of the different kinds (like candy bins at other supermarkets). I mix them in ice cream, yogurt, or just eat it like cereal. Love it-- always super fresh and not super expensive.
