Who shop's Aldi?

I've gotten some funky eggs before from Aldi's, so I don't buy those there anymore.

But I LOVE their fruit snacks.

And their chicken breasts are SO much cheaper than our Giant Eagle. And taste 10 times better as well. Anytime I made dinner and served chicken for my family, they always said the chicken was delicious, and it's always because I like Aldi's chicken breasts (or I buy from a Save Alot and their chicken is good as well).

Ground turkey.

And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the single packaged brocolli and cheese stuffed breaded chicken breasts in the freezer aisle. Yum :)

Is it the frozen chicken breast or the fresh??? I was wondering about those chicken & Broccolli, they have the cordon bleu ones too? I was hesitant.

I dislike the chicken filled with the broccoli and cheese. I have tried on a couple of different occasions and each time, I am disappointed in the cheese sauce- It is always watery and bland. I love Walmart's Great Value brand of that chicken- so yummy. I have seen the chicken cordon bleu there too, but I have never tried that one... It might be better...

Although, I buy lots of food from Aldi- they have frozen Tillapia fillets that are wonderful. The fruit snacks and their version of fruit by the foot are yummy. All the cereals have been great- just like the name brand versions. My daughters love the cereal bars and poptarts too. I buy most of my canned food there. I have bad luck with the bread- it seems to go stale alot sooner than the other breads.

The cat litter is not that bad either. I personally like Tidy Cats better at holding the odor down the best, but for months that my budget is tighter, their litter seems to do a decent job.

I am more of an every now and again shopper. I do to get canned veggies and I stock up then as the price is really good. I have gotten ham there and it was the best ham we have ever had. I also like to get pickles and olives kind of stuff from there. We have never gotten anything we did not like, but I am picky so I do not try some things if I am set on the name brand.

I have even bought some non grocery gift items from there and was very pleased with the quality.

Has anyone bought their fresh meat?

I buy the bacon wrapped filets at aldis, and I also buyt he beef sirloin seasoned filets. They are very good consistently. I have also purchased stew meat and chopped steak as well as ground turkey. And the hamburger there is much cheaper than elsewhere.

I have had good luck so far with most things I have purchased there.

My favorites:

bacon wrapped fillets
canned chicken
milk
yogurt
cereals
tortilla chips
frozed waffles and french toast strips
cut fresh roses

I go to Aldi about once a week or so. The only thing I don't like is that they do not take credit cards, so I can't use my Diney visa, which is really a pain when I am working on extra rewards.

I bought the tortilla chips for salsa for .99 cents and my daughter said they were excellent!
Their jarred salsa is delicious too and cheap. I love their milk and it never seems to ever go bad. Also buy eggs, sour cream, Moo tubes(tubes of yogurt, dd loves them) bagged salad, grapes, italian bread, zucchini(even have it in the winter), chips, WHOLE WHEAT PASTA(Fit brand, delicious) has become our staple pasta. Worth a trip for me even though I can't get everything that I need.

Our walmart will match their prices on produce too.

I say we probably do at least 70% of our shopping at Aldi. (the other 30% at Woodman's, due to needing soy products for DS' allergies).

Like some other poster's have said, produce is hit or miss .... and we don't typically buy the fresh meat due to that being questionable sometimes as well. But everything else we buy weekly ... bread, eggs, canned veggies, wheat pasta, chips, fruit snacks, cereal, cookies, salsa/seasonings, cake mix, frosting, condiments, cheese, frozen ground turkey ....

I've yet to try their makeup, but I may have to give them a try for something different one of these days.

I didn't care for some of their canned soups and they don't have canned fruit packed in juice only.

I like most of their things though

Hi there Dawn... Our Aldi DOES fruit packed in its own juice. Right now I can only think of Pineapple. Others just say "Lite".. Canned soups have too much salt in them anyway. Stay with ALDI and save some real dough!! :)

Occasional Aldi shopper here, but was overall disappointed yesterday.
Milk had jumped from 1.79 to 2.09-it is $2 at Meijer. Eggs were .99 at Aldi, .88 at Meijer. Strawberries were .99, but I had to dig through 9 cases to find a pack without mold inside. Buns were marked down to .49, but were dated for today and close to rock hard.

Blueberries were OK, bought some cherries and several were bad when I opened the package. The other prices left me shrugging my shoulders, Meijer and Kroger generics are comparable, if not cheaper, than Aldi.

There didn't see to be many people buying many things yesterday, it was 6-7 shoppers with 6-10 items each. It looks like people are using Aldi as a needs filler store instead of their main shopping outlet.

After my experience yesterday, I can understand why.

Salmon fillets- in the frozen section. You get 4 of them, indiv. wrapped for 3.99. Great on the grill!

The Aldi is on the other side of town, but I will be working nearer to it this year so my try.
BUT most of the prices you list aren't any better than I can catch on sale at Hyvee or Super Target--but still gonna check it out!

There's one opening in Sept. near me. Looking forward to it, as I'm trying to cut down my grocery spending. Fellow Diser's advised me to bring a quarter deposit for the shopping cart, and also to bring my own bags.

Theo Albrecht, Trader Joe's owner, dies @ age 88 this week.
He and his brother, were the founders of Aldi's in Germany and also purchased Trader Joe's in this Country.
I can't tell you how much money I have saved by shopping at both those stores. :)
