Who says u can't take a 1yr old to WDW?Put the boy in a stroller!A 1st PTR Oct 2010

Wow, there is definitely nothing wrong with a lap baby!! I'm DREADING the day Landon is too old to be a lap baby. (It's 2 right?)

Landon has flown a total of 3 times (roundtrip every time) as a lap baby and did great. The first time he was maybe 6 months and just slept. Then again at 9 months and then again at around 18 months. He will be a lap baby again at 21 months. Basically the only hard thing is entertaining them and jerks who you will be flying with who are apparently too thick-headed to understand what flying must be like for babies! Babies want to explore, not sit still so it gets hard for them!

Just bring plenty of stuff for your little guy-snacks, toys, comfort items-and you should be good. Also, I know some airlines require you bringing a copy of the birth certificate so you don't try to pretend your 6-year-old is under the limit so he rides for free. :rotfl2:

tHANK yOU..My cousin has suggested i buy some new small toys to keep his attention. i hope that will be enough. did u do anything for his ears to help with the pressure change? some say to let him suck at bottle but he may not be on bottles then or ill just give him one anyone.

Hi! Found your TR while searching. I'm taking my DD (who will be 13 mos) next month and I have a PTR in my signature that might help a bit with your planning and of course it'll all be done before your trip.

He is so ADORABLE!! Hope your planning is going well. You're going during my dream time. DH is a teacher so we're stuck with school breaks, but I WOULD love to go in October.

Hey!Thank you! i have been reading! i subscribed to it. Im looking forward to hear about your trip since our babies will be going at the same age! my family and I are excited to go in october! we have never been during this time.

The first couple of times, Landon still was on bottles but was just never interested in them during takeoffs or any other time really. He never acted like his ears bothered him either so I just didn't worry about it. Just follow his lead and your mommy gut!

I think a few new small toys to keep his attention will be plenty!!

I hope everyone is enjoying your summer!!!
64 days left till our weekend getaway to the world!
Ive done some shopping and got devyn some mickey mouse swimming trunks for disney, which he will also use on his birthday which i forgot to mention is a water dessert party, got the idea from the wishes dessert party thing. we got pooh bubble machines and a toy story sprinkler and slip and slide for the older kiddos!!

OK. so i chose my title because i can get some funny looks from others for taking a little one to Disney world. I did go while i was pregnanat like 10 weeks becasue when i got home the morning sickness kicked in. The number one reason people are against it is because he will not remember it and he will not be able to do anything, but believe me I know he will be doing 2 things..riding Dumbo and getting a pic with the mouse!lol. I have been going to Disney since i was one and i don't remember it but i have pictures and my family has special memories from that trip. I just know that u cant put life on hold when u have a child. So i do believe in taking him where i go. don't get me wrong if hes sick or there is a snow storm outside, which we don't see much in Georgia, i wouldn't take him out. And after hearing other families taking little ones as young as 2 months to Disney I felt better about it and so I got a stroller with a recline and he can nap there. I guess that comes from when my parents took my sister and me to the parks and we were there open to close and I still didn't want to leave.
In other news, we have decided to stay at Pop century. Both my sister and I are in college and on a budget and we will not be spending much time there. We will be booking in a few days, however, we officially booked flights today! Devyn will have 2 first in one trip: a flight and Disney. We were able to get some good deals thru Air Tran at 80 one way. I also have made ADR as soon as my 180 marked open. We r only doing three. First is Boma for dinner. I love AKL and this one as well as all of our ADR are new to all of us. Second, Teppan edo for dinner. Im really happen about this.. I don't know why I actually worked at Epcot and never knew about the hibachi grill..i fell in love with the one at home so hopefully I want be disappointed..and finally chef mickey's for breakfast. I have heard mixed views about this one lately but we agreed to give it a try.. I never knew about it until my college program but out of the 6 months I was there and between working and class, I never got to go cause it was booked. I think im more excited about the characters than the actually meal.

I was in the same boat as you last year, I have an 18 month old and we went when he was 10 months old. Everyone made fun of me and didn't understand why I was taking such a 'little' baby, but they just don't understand. Like you, I've been going since I was one...a couple years ago I asked my mom if she knew how many times we had been, and she said that was like asking her how many times she peed last week. lol..gross but funny. Anyways, when Disney plays a big rold like that in your life, you want to pass that fun, magical feeling on..so I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND!! I took my son on Dumbo and while he didnt laugh out loud, he also didn't cry. And its the memory that counts.

I'm in college too and we're on a budget as well, we will be there September 30- Oct 5, and my mom is paying for our hotel all but one day. And that one day, we'll be at pop. I wasn't so thrilled about it, but its got BIG, BRIGHT things for the little kids to look at...so it could end up being really good. I've also eaten at Boma for breakfast and dinner and both were great. Unless you are super picky about foods, you should like it. I'm taking my son to Chef Mickey one of the days too, I'm pretty excited, kids seem to enjoy it.
Have fun on your trip, I'll probably follow along with your planning bc I just cant wait to go...and this is my fix lol

Hello everyone, so i started a thread asking for any suggestions or tips on flying with a lap baby and it has become a mad house!.In my original post i tried to avoid the debate on whats right or wrong by saying that buying another ticket for my child is not an option or up for a discussion but people took it the wrong way. I have some people who have suggested that mother who flys a lap baby is a bad mother and i think it is very rude. no one has anyidea what i go through for my son. i agree that everyone is entitled to there decision but i have to say that if someone comes out directly again to suggest im a bad mom that i might have to get rude back and i really do not like that. so im just going to ask if anyone who has flown with a lap baby i would like to hear how it went whether bad or good. over there it has not helped me at all

The funny thing about the rude people who said that is...their kids probably sat on their lap for a portion of the flight. I can't picture any baby/toddler up to age 2 sitting alone in a seat the entire flight. Thats a joke in itself. My son was a lap child and it was okay. The flight there left in the afternoon and I had kept him up the entire day so by the time we were on the plane, he was beat. He took a bottle and passed out...I think he woke up about 45 minutes before we landed (we were coming from MD, so he slept for about an hr and a half)...which worked out pretty good. I was just happy that he didnt scream the whole time. The flight home was even better, we left Orlando at 5:30 PM, and he had NO NAP the entire day so he was O.U.T the entire flight. I'm honestly terrified about this flight coming up in October, he just has so much energy now that he doesnt always take naps. And the other people on the plane without babies are rude and snobby when they cry.

But the good thing is, pediatricians actually recommend giving them benedryl because babies this young don't know how to pop their ears and its painful. I didnt give my son benedryl last time bc he took a bottle and was fine. But I have a feeling it will happen this year. I would suggest bringing some with you just in case.

It so tickles me whenever someone makes that too young comment. i always ask so deos that mean i should stay in the house with him everyday and not go anywhrere or do anything cause he will forget. then they are like but its so expensive and well disney will always be expensive for me but when you have a child that young you dont have to pay for anything. I think he will be fine. I sat near a lap baby on my flight from europe a few summers ago an 11 hour flight and i do know every baby is different but she did very well. She had a seat but she actually fused more in the seat. she cried once cause she was hungry. Thank you for the advice about the benedryl. I want to try weaning him off the bottle so he may be off. I just found a cup he will drink out of.

Saw your titel and had to pop in! My favorite topic, the too young debate! I took my son last year, in Oct for F&W fest (well, that was for me, not him :)) and he was 16 months old. I am sure he won't remember one bit of it but for me, it's all about the moment with little ones. He had an absolute BLAST there. He loved everything. And while he won't have memories of it, I will, he dad will, his grandparents who go to experience his first WDW trip with him will! The only adive I will give you about it, because you are going on such a short trip, is don't have too many expectations. With little ones, it is easier to go with the flow. That being said, my son DID sleep in the stroller so there were a couple of afternoons where we thought we would head back to the hotel and we didnt' have to!

As for flying, I did get my son a seat because he is TALL. We brought his car seat and he sat in that, happy as a clam. We plan to go next year again and we will have a 1 year old and I plan to have him on my lap. Not opposed to it one but but I just knew it wouldn't work for my son.

He also didn't seem bothered by take off, like someone else said. But I had a sippy cup ready in case. We had toys and coloring books and all sorts of things. But he actually fell asleep not long after take off and woke up right as we landed. Another point I will make is this...if he cries or makes noise, who cares?! You are on a plan to Orlando and there will be tons of other kids on their. Other parents will understand and if not, too bad, it's a short flight

Yay for Devyn taking his first steps!! That's so awesome. I wanted Landon to take his first steps in Disney World, down Main Street USA towards the castle. But the little hooligan just HAD to do it mere weeks before in our tiny kitchen. :rotfl2:

I think one of the best things about taking them so young is being able to see them kinda grow up with Disney. Just like the blast from the past pic I posted of Landon in the airport...I love knowing how much he's grown and that especially these younger years, every trip will be SO different as he hits his different stages and it's just amazing. I don't regret taking my son twice before he is even 2 years old at all.

Next time someone tells you he's too young, you should just say their too old. It may or may not be true, but neither is their statement about him being too young and maybe at least they'll keep their mouth shut!

Youre son is adorable!! Im taking 3 children to Disney with me in Sept!! Mine are 8yrs, 5yrs, and 2 yrs!! I know they will have a blast!! And plus if they cant remember going to Disney there are always pictures:cool1::thumbsup2

Yes i wish it was a longer trip but school will not allow it:sad1: Thanks for your suggestions and you are so right! who cares! its not like they were not babies at one point!

Thank you. i plan to take several pictures. i hope you all have fun in spet.

Well today begin a new semester in school and i cried all day becasue my little stinker started daycare today. He was fine but i could not hold back the tears. So anyone that has had to put there child in daycare. Please tell me gets better

i cried too!!! I actually cried before mine was even in daycare...the first few days I was back at work, he stayed home with his dad. I went there on my lunch break and cried when I had to leave, then I got myself together, and cried when I walked back into work.

He's 18 months now, he's been in daycare since he was 10 weeks old with the same person, and it has definitely gotten better.

I thought I had subbed to you! I guess I didn't. I love the picture of your son. He is so adorable! Don't let anyone tell you how you should or shouldn't spend your vacation with him. I know my parents took me when I was that young!

Going back to read more :) I have a two-hour break until my next class!!

OK! I'm caught up!!!

How did your classes go? I had all mine on Monday (no Tuesday or Thursday classes!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1: ) and I'm so excited for this year!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Halloween picture of your son and cousin. I practically died when I saw it.

You are going to have such a great trip! I'm sure your son would LOVE breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I've always wanted to go, but just never get around to it, especially since we only have two days this trip and I'd rather save time and eat in the park.

I bet your son will do great at day care. I went to day care all the way through 5th grade and that is where I met my best friend to this day! We have been friends since we were like in diapers!!

I am really excited to hear more about your trip. :)
