Who Remembers these restaurants?

I remember all but Ariels.
Lots of historical memories tied up in those restaurants!
Sometimes I think I must be getting fuddyduddy in that I don't like changes as much as I used to!

We were just cleaning out about 30 odd years of Disney and came across our kids certificates for attending the Menehune Character Breakfast . Old folders from our stay at 55 a night at the Contemporary.

Ariel's is still open for private parties. I remember when Empress Lilly was the only character breakfast.

Yes, It was next to Kona Cafe, right? Or was it Konas. They used to have character breakfasts there.

Coral Isle Cafe became Kona Cafe. It never was a character breakfast at least as of 1983 when we started to stay at the Polynesian.

The first character breakfast for us was downstairs where Wyland Galleries was in recent years....a bright and airy room. Then it moved upstairs where Ohana is now.

/$55 per night was a while ago. I remember Minnie's Menehune. It just occurred to me that they don't call it that anymore. I still call the WED Way the WED way! ;)

After our wedding we ate at Flaglers in GF. They had a guy who roamed around the tables playing the accoridan. DH had him play "It had to be you". :love2:

We really miss that one since it had since special memories.

My memory is slipping.......what was Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary before.......we went to an Italian buffet there. I loved Chef Mickey's in the village and Adventureland Terrace. Remember when the kid's meal came with jello with mini marshmallows on top.

We never went to the Italian buffet at the CR but a friend always raved about what good value it was. Another one of those "we'll do it some trip."

We still call it the People Mover. :sunny:

I can remember when the walk to the Empress Lilly riverboat seemed far out from the Village at Walt Disney World (Downtown Disney marketplace). I loved eating at Fisherman's Deck. I also liked going to the bar at the "ground" floor level of the riverboat. The entertainment was a lot of fun back then.

That's right. When they were refurbishing the Papeete Bay Restaurant they opened the private dining area next to the Coral Isle and we had gone to a character breakfast there.

Now what was the name of it??

I remember the Fireworks Factory. We ate there on our Honeymoon...back in 93. I also remember the Empress Lilly, although we never ate there!

Bonfamiles (sp.) at Port Orleans. Great Cajun food...especially the mud puppies!

When I was a kid we ate character breakfasts in the Terrace Buffeteria, right next to the Pueblo Room!

I love riding the monorail into CR and still seeing the ginormous mural. Granted that's a little OT but it was always part of my memory of eating at the CR.

Edited to add: I just found a link to a site that has all these old Disney names on it! It's called Walt Dated World. Kinda fun! http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/index.htm

That was the Baton Rouge Lounge....and it featured Denny Zavitt and the Riverboat Rascals! We had lots of fun there...on our honeymoon in 1986 and on subsequent trips.

What's now SOG was first the Golf Resort and then the Disney Inn. They had a huge Sunday brunch.

There was a Minnie Mia's where Wolfgang Express is at DtD, Goofy's Grill (Ghiradelli), Donald's Dairy Dip ... I think that is the Lego Store now.

I never ate there, but there was reported to be a restaurant at the old Golf Resort/Disney Inn that specialized in Fried Ice Cream.

CRT used to be King Stephan's Banquet Hall.

I remember eating at the Empress Lily and Lake Buena Vista Club when Downtown Disney was the Village at Walt Disney World. We stayed in the Fairway Villas which were very nice (2 bedrooms - one a loft that overlooked the lower level of the villa, 3 bathrooms, a huge living room, dining area, and full kitchen which they stocked with groceries for you). The whole package deal with tickets was around 500.00 for 7 nights!!! They also had the Treehouse Villas which were said to be very nice. They were within a short walking distance to the Lake Buena Vista Club. What great times!!!

Good grief!! I remember virtually all of the places mentioned. And they were all good too!
Let me add several more:
Seasons
Sum Chows
Harry's Safari
Pompano Grill
And before the California Grill and even before the Broadway at the TOP Show, was the "supper club" they had there, with name entrtainment. We saw Billy Eckstein, and I know Rosemary Clooney appeard as well.

That spot at the Disney INN (now SOG) was very nice--we walked over there several times for dinner when we used to stay at the Poly.

Yes, the Pueblo Room was at the Contemporary on the 4th floor. I seem to remember a hallway at the south end of the floor that led to an out-of-the-way entrance. I was just coming of age and was suitably impressed with the room. God knows what I ate, but I remember the atmosphere from 30 years ago!
