Hi ladies
I need some help.... and I know here on the boards I get great advice... My engagement party is going to be next year in May or June... I am sending engagement announcements the month before, but I am not sure if I should put where I am registered.. My mom keeps saying that I am asking for too much between registering for the engagement party, bridal shower, and wedding. So I am wondering if anyone registered for their engagement party. I am keeping things less than $50.00. I hope someone can help me..

thanks again

I registered before my engagement parties, but didn't put the registries on the invitations. If anyone wants to bring a present they will find out where you are registered through your firends or family. I think the same holds true for wedding invitations - people will find out where to go without listing them on the actual invitation.

We had registered for our china pattern and a few other things at the time of our engagement party. We did not expect gifts, but attendees called family members to see where we were registered. I would recommend that you don't tell unless someone asks.

We also registered for a few things but did not put where we were registered on the invite. If people want to know they will ask your mom/FMIL etc., so let those people know where you have registered.

My family always buy gifts from the registries for engagement parties so when I got engaged we registered, however we did not put our registries on the invitation. People asked my mom as the called to rsvp.

We are not registering but its because I am relocating from Toronto to Florida so guests know this and they are going to give cash. I do think its a good idea though. I agree with one of the other DISers do not include where you are registered, it's up to the Maid of Honor and others to spread the word.

I didn't put where we're registered, but on my Save-the-Dates I put our wedding website, which has information about us and the wedding as well as where we're registered at! I love the internet! It makes life so much easier! :sunny:

When we registered for the wedding, we chose some items that were under $50 for the engagement party. We also didn't put the registry info in the invitations or save the dates, but people just called and asked. People will want to get you something you want, so I would definitly do it and just let key family and friends know so they can spread the word!
Have fun registering!
