Like most of you, I have been waiting for ROL dates and have been checking many sites on a regular basis. Who usually posts news like this first? Is it Disney, forums or news sites? I have been also checking the block out date page but I read somewhere that this show probably wouldn't change block out dates.
We are going Jan 30th to Feb 6th and would love to see this.

Well there is a difference between a site posting first, and a site having an official announcement.

Nothing is truly official until it comes from Disney itself.

The WDWNT app has push notifications so you can get notified once they post a new article or whatever. They, of course, are not Disney.

And even official Disney announcements sometimes aren't true...

Well it wasn't really not true they just had to go back on the official announcement a little different then the rumor mill. Once it is an official announcement they have to face the backlash when it doesn't happen as advertised. I have a feeling they lost a lot of trust in the general population over that blunder.

Most definitely.

I'd say if it was opening with in the next 30 days we would have heard it from disney already. Starting to think this will be held as apart of the Pandora opening.
I disagree with this because of what already happened they are going to wait as long as possible to announce an opening date. I wouldn't surprised if they announced an opening date that's only 5-10 away from that announcement.

There will be other stuff that will be official enough though. Casting adjustments, CM scheduling for crowd control in DAK etc will have to happen before 5-10 days. At minimum will know at least 14 days in advance with all that information combined. Every reputable blog out there has CMs close to the chest to get that information. So it may not come from Disney's mouth to guests for 5-10 days but we'll see the "proof" before then.

I personally think ROL might be timed with the view visit for it to open with them while they announce pandora dates. That's roughly when they need to extend park hours to keep the tree awakening to happen in the dark and in my mind (I'm speculating rteetz) is some way to try to get people in to make it operationally profitable still.

I don't think we're going to hear an rol announcement, it'll just be "it's running now" one day..

The reality is the only "official" announcements are when the operations structure confirms that something will in fact be offered on site...so a day or two in advance at most. Things are added/removed due to maintenance issues all the time.

And "official" openings are always weeks after operations commence. So it's not like they cut a big ribbon then take your picture as "first rider ever" 10 minutes later.
