Mine are automatically deducted from my checking account but I just did the math and will save $112 per year by buying Disney gift cards with my Amex and opening a DVA. How should I get started on this? My dues are due next week so i will keep things as they are for now. Do I have to call MS to make a gift card payment each month? Is it a $20 gift card per each $1000 deposited? So if I'm only buying $100 per month to pay maintenance fees, I'll earn my first $20 in 10 month's correct?? TIA

If you are paying monthly, I believe the payment must come from your bank account or your credit card, I don't believe they will take payment from your DVA on a monthly basis since it processes as a gift card. I believe you will have to get off the monthly plan to use your DVA. Also, you can go to the DVA site to see the rules, but your account must be open for 120 days before you can earn any bonus. The bonus is $20 for each $1K of spend (not deposit) and it is currently slated to end at the end of this year. I pay dues with my DVA, but to maximize it, I deposit discounted gift cards into my DVA when I'm ready to pay my contracts in full in December/January.

Thanks. Yes I knew they wouldn't take a monthly payment from a DVA that's why I asked how others do it ( call in each month?)or start the DVA a year ahead of time and pay MFs all at once.

Yes, I have paid mine with DVA for the past two years. I buy the gift cards and add them to the account. The first year I called to pay it. This year I was able to do it online. Before that I paid it once a year with my credit card calling in. I never used the monthly payment system so can't answer any questions on how that would work.

If you want to use a gift card, you need to pay dues all at once annually. You cannot call each month to make payments with a gift card.

Monthly payments can only be drawn from a checking account. If you want to use a gift card or credit card, you have to pay the entire balance.

You could get a gift card and call in to pay the remaining balance now. Next year, you'd have to pay the entire amount up front.

I like to buy discounted gift cards during the black Friday sales period and then pay my annual dues in full in January.
