I think the watch can communicate with a credit card device, but it isn't as simple as an RFID chip inside a magic band. The watch must interact with a transactional handshake.
I just disagree - walk around MK, and notice how many people are glued to their phones, not talking to the people they are with! And think of the idiots made famous from stupid reality shows, and how kids think they are great - we have been ruined by some TV.
I do carry a portable charger, but I'm talking about the phone actually dying - as in, not working anymore. People are so tied to them, they are lost without them.
Two trips ago my cell phone fell into the toilet just before leaving to go to Disney. Boom. Dead phone. I was lost without being able to check and change my FP+, ADR's, check wait times or anything. So frustrating. Yes - I realize how ironic it is. One of the reasons I love DCL is that it's one of the few places left on the planet where my phone is not glued to my body.
"Bluetooth door entry is coming to Walt Disney World Resort Hotel rooms, but it won’t be activated via MagicBand, but rather the MyDisneyExpeirence app and a guest’s cell phone.
Guests will soon be able to use their phones to open their hotel room doors at Disney’s Polynesian Village and Grand Floridian Resorts during an upcoming test. Similar systems are in place at many major hotel chains through the country, even featured in television ads as of late. Regardless, the technology has been around for years."
