Who loves their DVC membership?

A couple of years ago, on a single day trip with my parents I actually made a wish during the "Wishes" fireworks that I would be able to figure out a way to buy into DVC so I could take my parents to WDW for relaxing vacations. Jiminy Cricket is right, wishes do come true and I became a DVC member with SSR as my home resort. Since I purchased, I have stayed at OKW, HHI, VB and SSR and loved them ALL. Like many others here, my only regret is that I was not able to do it sooner.

The best moment for me will forever be the look on my Dad's face when we walked into our villa at OKW for our first DVC trip.

Now my parents brag to their friends that their daughter is taking them on vacation. It's so wonderful to give them this back after they spent so much effort and money taking me to WDW as a child.

No matter what little annoyances occur on our trips, we are always so overjoyed to be there that they just melt away.

Fits, your post made me tear up a bit. We're actually taking my parents with us on our vacation in 13 days. It will be our last cash ressie for a while since we just joined DVC (we're staying at the YC & CR, and we're putting my parents up at the Dolphin using our Starwood Preferred Guest points). I am so beyond excited to take them to the places we love and make some wonderful memories with them. They have done so much for us, and we're thrilled to be able to do a little something for them. I just know my parents would love OKW in particular, so I'm hoping they'll like Disney World enough to want to come back with us in a couple of years.

I don't know that I would use the word LOVE yet......as a fairly new member I am at times excited, grateful, and worried. A lot of things have been mentioned about the changes of DVC, so I will have to experience the good, bad, and the ugly. I'll let ya know if LOVE becomes one of my feelings after a few trips!:santa:

My family loves our membership. It lets us got to Disney every year!! and to VB too. The best part is owning at the BWV. Between the location and the theming it just is the perfect place for us.

We get to stay in a one bedroom unit, we get to wash our clothes and have a few meals and breakfast in our room every day. But the best part is that we don't have to go to bed when the kids do when we get a 1 bedroom.

Before we bought we stayed at the All Stars a few times but I so prefer the deluxe accomadations!! There is nothing better than returning home for the night and walking into a spacious unit!!!

 DVC how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...:rotfl:

Nothing can ever replace the precious memories we're building with our children, and, hopefully, will build with our grandchildren!

We are fairly new members (Nov/Dec 2006) after researching on DIS for over two years. I wish we would have been able to purchase in 1998 when we first took our boys to WDW and saw the "I've got a secret" signs all over. Alas, the time and finances weren't right for us then.

But last November after much conversation I called Julie (our rep) and asked if there were any BWV contract out there. (Another 'right for us' decision to purchase right from Disney) and there were two JUST the size we wanted, no waiting. We bought right there!

Since we have cruised on the Magic (booked pre-DVC but they did flag us as members). I have to tell you we got something from DVC almost every day on the cruise :cool1: It made us feel so special and the DH and DSs got a kick out of being recognized by the DVC reps on the ship. Right there was our first "WOW is this a great thing or what" moment!

This past June we spent a week at BWV. (DH teaches, we HAVE to travel during a school break). I can't say enough about how awsome the 1 BR villa was. The washer and dryer was great - not that I want to do laundry on vacation but it was mighty handy to dry your swim suits each evening and not have to pull on a damp suit the next day! Not that I cook on vacation but the full kitchen ROCKED for making a quick breakfast and the full sized fridge was great for snacks and brining left overs back from dinner. Do THAT in a regular hotel room ;)

As for negatives, besides missing our beloved POR foodcourt, my DVC rose colored glasses prevented me from seeing dirt, wear, or any other flaws. I was just happy to not have to change in the bathroom because DH and I had our OWN room with a door

Next year: VWL in March, Grand Califonian on points in June, and banking for a cruise for the boys senior trip April '09.

LOVIN DVC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

LOVIN DVC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

tksbaskets I just read your entire trip report from your trip in June ( I am supposed to be cleaning the house this morning and here I sit reading ;) ). You did an awesome job on the trip report and I loved all the pictures! It looks like you had a great first trip home to DVC! We were in FL this past June also, the 16th-30th and it was hot and humid but we have been there before in June so we knew what to expect. Our next trip to WDW will be for Christmas 2008!
We stayed at the Grand California on points in June of 2006 and we loved it! We had a great view of the California Adventure park and it was so nice to be right there! Have fun!

I'm glad you enjoyed it :goodvibes you will love WDW at Christmas. Will you actually be there on the 25th?

I love are membership! WIth out it we would not be doing the west cost cruise and a Trip to SSR in February.

You are experiencing a standard post-purchase reaction. It is not necessarily buyer's remorse, but it involves a heightened sensitivity to the product accentuated by a sense of finality. New car buyers who are otherwise happy with their purchase often notice (unhappily) that everybody seems to be driving the same car in the same color. Something similar sometimes happens with job changes and other major "purchases" (I even heard a colleague lump marriage into this category ;)).

In the case of DVC, you just happen to be more sensitive to the comments at this time. In a year, your thoughts will be colored by your own experience. In a way, this thread is no more representative of DVC than what you read elsewhere -- since you are soliciting only positive comments.

The Disney Files thread is probably not helping :lmao::rotfl2:

We are just finishing up a 10 day trip to SSR. We bought earlier this year and couldnt be happier.

SSR is a beautiful resort and I dont understand how anyone could have an issue with it. We staeyd in the Springs in a dedicated 2 bedroom. The room was huge and in great shape. Two bedrooms, two baths (whirlpool tub), pull out couch, three TV's, Balcony (where else can you get those type of accomodations) The staff at SSR were all wonderful. The main pool was great (I believe there are 4 in all).

I was just telling my wife yesterday that no matter how good things are some people just need to complain to be happy. We paid alot of money for our two contracts and all we are now trying to do is leave in two days without owining more of the magic before we go.

Yes we are planning on flying down Dec. 19th or 20th and staying until the 26th or 27th. Have you ever been over the 25th?

Yep, we've been members for nearly 11 years, and still love it! Now that we have added on at AKV, we have more 11 month options too. We have our first AKV stay in March and will experience both standard and Concierge level on that trip. Heck, we'll even get a few days at OKW when we return from our Twins spring training part of the trip in Fort Myers.

Hi Cheryl,
Yes, we've been over Christmas. Have you made dinner ressies for the 25th yet? We had dinner at Chef Mickey's on Christmas. One of the nicest meals I've ever NOT had to prepare for the family ;) It was so special to celebrate with just our family. DMIL was with us as well. The parks are beautifully decorated. Not quite as busy on Christmas day than the 24th and the 26th I found.

Our boys were old enough to know their present WAS the trip so I just brought a couple of little gifts for them to open on Christmas morning. I did bring a tiny artificial tree for our room.

The only topper to that Christmas was the one where we were on the Magic and woke up in St. Thomas on Christmas day. :cloud9: This trip I didn't bring ANY gifts for Christmas and let the boys have a credit for the ship board account so they could get what they wanted (within reason) on the ship. EASY shopping :thumbsup2

We love ours. It was by far one of the best purchases we have made. We have been to HHI and VB plus WDW. It has allowed us to go on more shorter trips or 1 long trip. We love how versitile it is. I have to say we have not encountered any of the problems others have either. But even still nothing in life is perfect. Congrats on your purchase. Welcome home!!!!!:goodvibes

We LOVE our membership. In fact, we were going to sell our membership a few months ago and listed it because I was on this kick about dumping all debt/sell stuff on ebay/etc. Well, I started to really think about it, and I realized that my DVC membership is more than "breaking even" or "crunching numbers." Fo us, it's about access to stellar accomodations, fun booking tricks and processes, excitement about new resort announcements and the guarantee of future vacations that given the price of disney hotels lately, would NOT be a guarantee otherwise. Maybe we won't "break even" for a while, but I don't care. DVC in and of itself is fun.

Love DVC:love:

I have only owned 1 yr in Jan.....already adding on.....
Best part is deciding on where....

I love the fact that I know that I will go to the happiest place on
earth a lot:thumbsup2

We love our DVC membership.

Members since January '06.

We are planning a trip for January, and we were just there in April! This will be our 1st trip home in less than a year.

Thank you DVC!!!

We love it...love it...love it!! We look forward to going to Disney each year (or sometimes e/o year since we are not close) We love SSR...its all of our favorites in my family. We love all the DVC perks...and encourage anyone we know to join (if they financially can of course) What I REALLY love is that we can will it onto our kids so their families can all enjoy it one day.

What am I looking most forward to? Staying in a grand villa in the summer of 2009 with my son and his wife and our new grandbaby that was just born November 10. He is in the Marines and just returned from Iraq 8 days before she was born. He is to return in June of 2008.

Esmerelda :)

We love our DVC! It has allowed us to travel a few times a year to WDW and I know without it my DH would not let me book so many trips. So it was the best thing we ever did. :cheer2:
