Who loves the Contemporary?

Wow, yup, that's really close. Would take at least that long to take the monorail probably!
Yes, it's really close! It takes about 15 minutes to walk to MK from the garden wing. Much easier than the monorail, especially because the monorail runs in a loop. From the CR, it goes to the TTC, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and then back to the MK. It can easily take 20-30 minutes from the CR to the MK on the monorail. Returning to the CR for an afternoon rest sometimes we'll take the monorail. The CR is the first stop after MK, so it's pretty fast especially if you're not up to more walking after a few hours in the park. I wouldn't recommend it at park close/ after fireworks as it will be a madhouse. In the afternoon and early evening, though, it's a good way to get back to the CR if you're taking a break from the park.

So there's a separate entrance to MK walking from CR? Can we get in that way for an early dining reservation too? We have a breakfast at BOG one day at 8 when the park opens at 9. Would be handy if we don't have to go to the main entrance.

Not a separate entrance. There's a sidewalk from the Contemporary to the main MK entrance. It's the only resort that has the ability to walk to MK, but everyone goes in the same entrance. The only thing that's different is a bag check that's on the sidewalk about halfway between the CR and the MK. From there you'll proceed, along with everyone else, to the area where you tap your MagicBand.

What the PP said. I did EMM this past Sunday coming from CR. I was targeting to arrive at the main entrance around 7:30AM since they let you in 7:45ish and it was easy peasy. Same applies to a PPO ADR.

Happy to answer any specific questions.

I've loved the Contemporary since my first visit in 1981. We stayed in a garden wing room and had such a wonderful time. I've since stayed in the tower, club suite, BLT , etc. and have loved them all (so much we bought into BLT when it became available). I have wonderful memories of our moments there and seeing the building always makes me smile.

I am really liking this thread, we have traditionally stayed at th AKL which I love but it is pretty far from magic kingdom and a decent distance from Epcot.

Does anyone know the quick service situation there? Mara is a huge plus of the AKL and I know some resorts quick service is lacking

We really only stay at deluxes and am looking for a change next trip.

I love the CR as well! It was my first ever Disney resort and it holds a special place in my heart. I stayed there twice as a kid and then a few years ago as an adult. I like the futuristic look and there is something about the monorail going through it and taking it to the MK. If it is too crowded going or leaving I like the walk to the MK. Also the boat to WL and FW is great. I love the TP views and the electrical water pageant. At holiday time there is the Frozen display and treats that are sold.

We love it, have only stayed MK view a few times but won't ever forget those stays:)!

Consider ourselves lucky to score BLT via DVC, segue on over to enjoy the ambiance of CR

Perfect for shorter stays, such easy access to MK and TTC. That said, the pool is a bit of a snooze.

I haven't stayed there, but we visited a couple of trips ago and ate at the Wave (which was great!) I can't say I love the resort, as the theme/style just isn't me, but I would give it a try if it weren't for the cost because I would love to be able to walk to MK and see the fireworks from my window!

I love the contemporary, but my family of 5 and sometimes 6 (grandma travels with us a lot) has outgrown it.

What @Babsy said. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'll add a couple of photos from my trip last weekend just for fun.

I'll have you know your KILLING me! DH said oh look that GAdad guy even said how awesome it was to be at the Contemporary especially after a party because of the ability to walk vs. wait for the monorail/boat. I'm like yeah I know, we did it several times. Thanks a lot! <Kidding....mostly!>

:rotfl: (Poly is still my favorite though....)

At this stage in my life, mom of a 1 & 2 year old, the CR is the ONLY place to stay. Walking to & from the MK with a stroller can't be beat. As well as it's only a monorail ride to Epcot.

I've stayed at all three monorail resorts, they all have pros & cons, it's what it's important to you.

It is far and away our favorite resort. We bought DVC at BLT so we could always be able to stay there. The decor, the theming, the rooms, the amenities, the convenience, the VIEWS....

BLISS!

I stayed at the CR only once, in the MK View tower. Loved the view, monorail, walking to/from MK, nice size of the room, food options, everything about it, except the price. That's why I won't stay there again, but wanted to stay there once in my lifetime.

We stayed at CR for the first time this past June and we absolutely fell in love with it! We were in the garden wing and thought the rooms were so spacious and nicely decorated. It was such a quiet, peaceful hotel. I also loved that the bathroom had a toilet room that was separate from the shower and sinks. Overall, it just felt more high end than YC and BC to us. We had a ground floor patio room and loved being just steps away from the beach and pool. And - you can't beat being able to walk to MK (and have your own bag check line!).

My family and I love the Contemporary! It was the first Disney Resort I ever stayed in (2009) and I fell in love with the overall design and feel of the place. We love that you can see Magic Kingdom from most balconies and of course the monorail going through the building. My Dad became a DVC member so all of our vacations since have been at Bay Lake Tower, but I always make it a point to go over to the Contemporary whether it be for shopping, dining, or recreation.

Reading through this thread! It's not my thread but I have questions- how long is the elevator wait? Do only the bottom floors have balconies in the garden view wings? Also if your in the tower rooms and have a lake view can you see any parks? I have my New Year's Eve trip narrowed down to this resort but having a hard time between Deluxe garden room, Park View in the tower or Bay Lake View club room - great thread btw thanks for creating it

The convenience of the Contemporary ry can't be beat but it's hard for me to love. It felt a little Grand Central Station ish to me and I'm from NY so that's not a bonus. I think that's why AKL and WL are my faves....they really feel like an escape.
