2. Winnie the Pooh & friends - $5.6 billion
3. Frodo Baggins (Lord of the Rings) - $2.9 billion
4. Harry Potter - $2.8 billion
5. Nemo - $2 billion
6. Yu-gi-oh - $1.6 billion
7. Spongebob SquarePants - $1.5 billion
8. Spider-Man - $1.3 billion

This is based on a Forbes List. So if Mickey generates so much money, why can't it be passed on to the parks and resorts? I know Disney owns all sorts of companies that is losing even more money than WDW and the park costs are based on the whole supply and demand thing, but you think some of the big wigs could get by on a few million a year.

"Mickey Mouse is No. 1 with an income of $5.8 billion for his friends at Disney, reports Forbes magazine in its annual list of the top-earning fictional characters. To make it onto this list, the character has to have made its debut in a narrative story, such as a cartoon, book, or videogame. It can't be just toy, as is Hello Kitty, which would have ranked third on the list if it were eligible, and it can't be based on a real person.

Who is the richest in the toy chest? Forbes magazine's list of top-earning fictional characters:
1. Mickey Mouse and Friends: $5.8 billion
2. Winnie the Pooh and Friends: $5.6 billion
3. Frodo Baggins, "Lord of the Rings": $2.9 billion
4. Harry Potter: $2.8 billion
5. Nemo, "Finding Nemo": $2 billion
6. Yu-Gi-Oh!: $1.6 billion
7. SpongeBob SquarePants:$1.5 billion
8. Spider-Man: $1.3 billion
9. Wolverine, X-Men: $900 million
10. Pikachu, Pokémon: $825 million"

As I understand it, the Theme Parks division doesn't lose money. Again as I understand it, the Theme Parks are propping up the divisions that *are* losing money. That is one of the standard rants around here - why do the theme parks have to suffer because of [fill in money losing division here - ABC, Go.Com, Fox Family Network, etc]?

Very interesting, I would have thought Sponge Bob was higher, seems like he is everywhere. And where is Shrek??? I am happy for the "fab five" though!!

Frodo Baggins? I never see hardly anything related to him. It must be a regional thing.
