~!Who knew you could relax in Disney?~Mother/Daughter Tr~5/2 May Trip Plans Days 5-8

Nice update.
Cape May Breakfast is lots of fun and we like the chars in their "beach" clothes.
The only negative is that it's tougher to get to in the morning if you are not staying at the Beach Club.
We were told to bus to the Studios and then boat over.
However, our bus driver was nice enough and drove us himself.

How lucky you were to get such an accomodating driver! :) When we do character breakfasts we generally take a cab to make the morning go smoother. We loved just walking over there from the BWV :goodvibes

Well, I ran the idea of Cape May by my DH who normally has NO opinion on where we eat! He actually said the only place he wants to eat at is Boma for breakfast! Ugh, I was so annoyed but I gave in because it is literally the only place he's requested and I've picked all the others! But on the day we arrive at Disney, we're going to head over to the Boardwalk/Beach Club area and do some exploring. I can't wait, it looks gorgeous!:thumbsup2

She ordered you another gift? What a great mom you have!:goodvibes I wonder if it's something Disney related? I dropped very pointed hints to DH that I wanted one of the new Dooney & Bourke Mickey Mouse purses (the 55th anniversary one). We'll see if he paid attention or not!:goodvibes

Have a Merry Christmas!:goodvibes

Well going to Cape May just gives you a reason to go back :thumbsup2

It is a beautiful area! So many great picture opportunities!

Yeah I think she is pretty awesome  I know that there will be a lot of Disney stuff for me this Christmas I have been told my stocking is filled with Disney stuff :thumbsup2

I hope you get your purse! They need a crossing fingers for good luck smiley

I hope you and your family have a merry Christmas as well!

I suspect I missed an update, but the last one was great. super great! Why????? Because its a preview for my May stay since I will be staying at a BCV villa! So excited about that! :woohoo: Your lobby pictures are lovely. And I LOVE the Cape May Cafe. I have had breakfast there twice and I agree with Caitlin. Its very laid back. And the best thing is it can be easily combined with an Epcot morning. I think we will be eating there in May. Can't wait!!!!!!

You will love the BCV! We highly recommend Cape May for breakfast and dinner! The food and service are wonderful!

If you're anything like us you will find yourself spending a lot of time at Epcot due to the close proximity! :goodvibes

We thought we'd give you a "real life" holiday update and share how we've been celebrating the season. We hope you enjoy it and then post how you're celebrating the season wherever you might be....

Our holiday season kicked off early Thanksgiving morning when Caitlin went to Detroit for the annual parade. "America's Thanksgiving Parade" is a Detroit tradition and Caitlin and her friend had a blast and made it home just in time for our Thanksgiving feast. Here are some pictures she took....

A holiday tradition at our house is to pay a visit to the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. If you haven't heard of the "Henry Ford" it is a museum with exhibits, demonstrations, reenactments and historic buildings all about American history. It is a wonderful museum and worth a visit if you ever find yourself in southeastern lower Michigan. This year we visited twice. The first visit was to the museum and the second was to the Village. We attended the village's ticketed holiday party "Holiday Nights". The party feels like you stepped back in time and are celebrating Christmas at the turn of the 20th century. There is ice skating, food from the time, Model A rides, silent movies, carolling and a lot of old-fashioned fun! Despite the cold we had a wonderful time and can't wait to go again next year! Here are some pictures from the museum and village....

The last (and most Dis-like) special event we've attended this season is "Mary Poppins" at the Detroit Opera House. The production is the National Touring Company and they are fantastic! Caitlin, my mom and I had girls day out and did lunch and the theater. We dined at "The Whitney" which is a restaurant inside an 1894 52room mansion. The restaurant is lovely and our meal was delicious!

After our meal we drove over to the Opera House where we had nice, main floor seats. The show was amazing and if you get the opportunity you should definitely GO! While the musical is considerably different from the movie, the message is the same as is much of the music. Supercalifrag...(you know what I mean) is a show stopping number and the entire audience gave the cast a standing ovation! We loved it! Of course we took a few pics ;)

Waiting for the show to begin....

Oh my goodness!! What a great post. I have been wanting to ask you about Mary Poppins since I heard the show was coming but I didn't want to spoil any surprises in case your family was taking you and you somehow didn't hear the commercials on the radio. lol And Holiday Nights looks so pretty! Can you believe I can hear the fireworks at night from my house! But I am a wimp and hate the cold so we have never gone. Maybe next year!
I will look for my sleigh pictures from the Museum, and the TREE, wow I have so many from that beautiful tree!
Thanks for sharing! I have nothing to share thus far about fun 'going's on' in this household, I had my last final yesterday, so I guess the fun can begin! (and my daughter's birthday is tomorrow!! Yikes!)

Great post!!:thumbsup2
:santa:

Awesome you got to see Mary Poppins! We got to see it in NYC when we were there...it really was great. Glad you enjoyed it too!

Merry Christmas!!! :santa:

Actually I forgot to mention that the Mary Poppins tickets were gifts from my mom. It was Caitlin's birthday present and my early Christmas gift.

We are total wimps about the cold too  We actually left before the fireworks we were so cold! You must be really close though to hear them from your house!

We'd love to see your pics if you find them!

:woohoo: for finals being over! Please tell your daughter we wish her a wonderful birthday! :goodvibes

Merry Christmas!!! :santa:

Thanks! Lucky you to have seen it on Broadway! we've only been to NYC once and it was a very quick trip that I won from "The View" a few years ago. We were able to catch Wicked while we were there though.

Merry Christmas to you too! Enjoy your break!

DAWN - OMG.....I never expected to go back to your TR and find such a fun update. You make me want to visit Michigan in the winter, which is insane for me since I really don't like the cold. Cool theatre. Cool pictures. Cool parade. Thanks so much for posting. Its definitely getting me in the holiday spirit!

Ahh, Detroit area. I'll keep that in mind.

If Mary Poppins comes around, I'll have to try to convince Andrew to come with me....

I cannot believe I've been reading you all of these months, never realizing we practically live on top of one another! It's quite a small world. (We are in the Livonia school district, my daughter is in Clarkston.)

I loved this update, as you can imagine. I have several friends and rel's that saw Mary Poppins - all with the same glowing reviews.

We keep saying we're going to see Greenfield Village during the Christmas Holidays, but never have. (We do frequent it at other times of the year.) It is now a must for next year!

Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas!!! :santa:

psst: notice our ticker? wheeeeeeeeeee!

Wow you are nearby!

I'm glad you enjoyed the update! It's good to hear that everyone is enjoying Mary Poppins! I was so excited when I heard it was finally coming here!

Greenfield Village is worth a trip anytime of year but it's even more fun during the holidays! I hope you make it next year :)

Merry Christmas to you too!

You have a trip in 2 weeks?!! Lucky you! I hope you have an incredible time! If you do a TR when you get back let us know! :goodvibes

Love the pic of you guys with Santa! Did you make it your Christmas card? Oh you should've, it's so cute! I'd like to wish you and Caitlin a very Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful holiday and I hope it's filled with Disney presents!

Oh, I'm not holding out much hope for that Disney Dooney & Bourke though, sniffle. DH gave me my gift last night, a new camera lens! I'm not complaining but boy would I have loved that purse!
