Who knew choking each other would earn us fastpasses?

Hi Lisa!!!

I started reading your TRs yesterday all because I'm thinking of staying at the CBR next year and you had some amazing pictures! I feel like I know your family and you guys are as crazy as the rest of us! :lmao:

So wonderful to hear about Lacey moving home and the upcoming wedding! That's so exciting!!!!

Take care and can't wait to read the next installment!!!!!

All caught up & it looks like ya'll had a great time! Love the outhouse! That is so cute!

I don't know if you noticed, but I have started my PTR!!!!

Awesome update, Lisa!!! I love  the sunset photos overlooking the Mississippi!

Great updates! Those pictures from Vicksburg are just so pretty!

Glad you guys had a great trip! Can't wait to read more reports!

Great pics as usual Lisa! I especially like the one with you and your Mama! I also like that even when you aren't at WDW you always have a touch of Disney on you (hat, t-shirt). ;) It's great!!

What did you end up doing with all your GA peaches? Did you can them or make a cobbler or both? Yum, nothing is better than warm peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top!! :cloud9:

You are absolutely right about Atlanta traffic, I drove through it for 30 years! One of the best things about being retired is not having to do that anymore.

Another great update. I loved the pictures of the bridge at sunset.

I went ahead and booked another Disney trip for next September today since they are offering free dining. Right now I'm booked at POFQ, but I may change it depending on if I like Pop to save a little money. I can't believe we have less than 3 weeks until our long awaited trip is finally here!

Terri

Thanks!!Now all I want is some peaches.:) LOL I could actually smell them when I was reading your TR. Your trip sounded awesome.

First off, I hope I don't miss responding to anybody as it's been so long since I've been able to post replies.

Adventure mountain is a little too much for me....good for John and Hunter, but poor Hunter for getting wet...although he didn't seem to mind!

Thank Goodness for Mr Snaggle Tooth for helping you out! :worship:

$49 for the zipline is quite a bit.....your right, people do say Disney is expensive, but they don't know all that Disney has to offer!

That's great you got free dining...I have never been that lucky

Hunter didn't mind getting soaked. He actually went back to that section of the mountain so he could do it twice.

To me, $49.00 a person was too expensive.

This is the very first time I have ever been able to take advantage of free dining. But, as far as I know, they've never offered it during May either.

I am booked for December 6th-December 11th. I went with the room only and as I was about to book I thought I would try the AP site, and I saved an extra 5% so it came out to be $321 instead of $350 something :cool1:. I don't know why I haven't gotten an email about the passholder discounts:confused3. I booked us at Pop and now it is time to start the planning :cool1::dance3::yay:.

The bookings must have really been down at Disney because they are making so many offers. I'm not complaining though :lovestruc.

OH I almost forgot.....LOVE the latest updates :thumbsup2.

I don't blame you for being excited about booking! Any little savings is better than none at all!

Great update. Last time I was at Dollywood was in 1996, I think.

And I agree with you and others about people talking about Disney being so expensive, but them not knowing all they get. Such as that extra charge for the zipline. That is crazy.

And then this weekend we went to the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL for the Stars Wars exhibit. It was 30 bucks per adult and 20 for my 4 year old. Crazy. Then you factor in a lunch that was actually more expensive than some CS at Disney and not nearly as good. In fact it was hard to choke it down. Then 35 bucks for the pictures they took, and this doesn't count the extra things we could have done, like the 3d movie, extra cost, IMAX movie, extra cost, Millenium Falcon movie, extra cost. However, the parking was free. But you get that at Disney if you stay on site. :)

People just don't get that Disney is affordable, if you do it right.

Sidenote. Totally felt for you with the roads in the Smokey Mt Natl Park. :scared1: We honeymooned in that area and drove through the park on the way to a train ride in NC, and I hated it so much that we went the long way around, via interstates, back to our cabin after the train ride.

I wasn't about to pay an extra $49 to ride a zipline over Dollywood. That's just too much to ask a family that just paid over $200 to get into the park.

Holy Moley Moo Moo Cows! That was one expensive trip to the space center! Like you said, some people think Disney is expensive but, when you break it down by how many things you can see in one day, it's really not that bad.

I didn't mind driving through the Smoky Mountain National Park during the daytime but, at night with all that fog.....

He didn't get everything up and running until late in the afternoon. He wasn't a happy camper! Being the sweet mother in law that I am, I went in yesterday and today and got his books in order, and what a job that was! For someone smart enough to be a doctor, he doesn't have enough sense to hire a book keeper and tries to do it himself. He does not succeed!

Congratulations on being able to move to Caribbean Beach resort for next year's trip. I know how much you love that place, and I can tell you're happy about it! I think I'm going to go ahead and book the free dining for next year now, and then see what kind of bounce back offer we get next month. I can always cancel if the bounce back offer is better.

Terri

That was very sweet of you. My boss' previous secretary must have sat around and done nothing all day long. When I started working there, I had to sort out all sorts of things that she did (or didn't do).

We knew that we would be okay at Pop Century. It made me glad to know that I was saving money for the wedding. But, when I found out that I could get the CBR AND save a ton of money, I changed resorts!

I like your idea of booking now and seeing whether or not you get a good bounceback offer. Like you said, you can always cancel.

Yay for free dining! That is awesome! I am so happy for you.
That last update was great. I would be trying to avoid that gieyser like the plague and it would probably get me! :rotfl2:

If we go in Dec (trip booked, but waiting for DH to actually say we can go) we will be at AKL from the 8th to the 10 and then to Pop on the 10th - 15th.

Maybe we'll see each other!

I have read that Disney's bookings are down 9% this year from last. Which is funny because they announced earlier that there would be less discounts because bookings were up with the better economy. I knew that couldn't be true though.

I was super surprised that they offered free diing in May, even if it was for a very limited time. I don't remember them ever doing that. But, then again, years and years ago, we stayed offsite and I didn't know much about discounts so maybe they did.

Too funny about Hunter getting so soaked! I bet he froze to death in the car on the way home, though. Or at least I would have.

That stinks about having to drive through the National Park in all the fog. I would have been scared to death. I hate driving with low visibility. :headache:

So glad that you made it back to GA safe and sound. Looking forward to more!!!

Oh I made Hunter change his clothes in the backseat. He was almost dripping wet when he came off Adventure Mountain. Thank goodness I thought to bring extra clothes.

The drive through the park wasn't that bad until it got really really foggy and we had to roll the windows down just to keep the windshield from fogging up. The defrost wasn't doing a darn thing to help! It also didn't help my feelings when we hadn't seen a car for miles.

It looks like you guys had a good time at Dollywood. I love the silly pics the best! :rotfl: My mom has been saying she wants to go there for years, but I think that's because she thinks it's full of good shows with country music. I'll have to tell her you said you heard a bad singer. She'll be shocked!

I couldn't believe that the singer at Dollywood was so bad. I am so not a singer and I could have done a better job than her. You could tell she thought she was da bomb though.

I haven't checked in for a while, but I'm loving your updates! We keep saying we are going to go to Gatlinburg and Dollywood, but I don't know when we'll make it.

We thought about it for Labor Day weekend, but we are headed to the first University of Tennessee game that Saturday, so I'm not sure if we are going to keep going on Sunday.

Plus we have our Disney trip mid-September, so I think that just may be too stinkin' many things in September. I might need a vacation from all of our mini-vacations.

Side note, I got a email pin that added some free dining dates for this fall and I casually mentioned to my hubby that I would love to go to WDW for Food & Wine as my birthday present (bday is 8/29). He looked at me like I had 12 heads and said "We are NOT going 3 times this year!"

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't know what we are going to do for Labor Day. Maybe camping? Notice the ? It's 'cause I want to go somewhere but I don't know where.

Your trip will be here before you know it. It's just a week until September and then mid-September will be upon us.

You are kidding me! I was just telling John that I'd love to go to Disney during Food and Wine Festival. He said "book it". Yeah right....we've got all kinds of expenses coming up in the next year. (That's probably why he said it. He knew I wouldn't do it.:rotfl:)

Congrats on getting to stay at CBR :yay: I now get it, when others say they found their "home" resort. We have that feeling about POR. My DH says he feels drawn there! Also, my older DD thought Hunter getting wet was awesome. She is just the kind to love it too! I would have pee'd myself if I was up there.

We are always saying we wouldn't mind changing up resorts. But, then, we start thinking about how much we like the CBR. Maybe one day, we'll try another resort.

I am like you....I would have pee'd myself up on the mountain. IF I could have stayed on the bottom section, I might would have been okay. There's no way I could have made it all the way to the fourth section.

WooHoo!! You got your discount! I think all the WDW crazed people were on the phone or online getting their discounts on Monday morning :cool1: Glad you were able to switch over to Caribbean Beach. :goodvibes

Between Monday and AP discounts on Tuesday we were able to get our discounts too. Yay!

I was on the phone the first time for 30 + minutes before I had to give up. The second time, I was on the phone for 49 minutes because when I booked online, it said my confirmation number was "null". By golly, I was getting free dining so I had to do what I had to do.

Did you get a good discount? I sure hope so.

:dance3:YAY!!!! So glad you got into your "home"!!! :dance3:

I wish that we could go again next year... but we have one small little reason why we can't...

Thanks! I am glad that I was able to book the CBR at such a good price! I can totally understand why you won't be going next year. ;)

Hey Lisa, Happy Friday!! I am all caught up on your TR again after being on our vacation!
I enjoyed reading about your Helen, Gaitlinburg, Pigeon Forge side trip!

Also congratulations to Lacey and Jesse on their upcoming wedding and am happy for you that you get to spend time with her beforehand! :cheer2::woohoo:

You have also inspired me to start writing a trip report about our recent trip, I only hope mine is as interesting and entertaining as yours have been! :cutie:

I am also excited for ya'll in getting to stay at your CBR with Free Dining for next year - woo hoo! We also booked a trip to POR for May 27-June 4 to take advantage of the deal!

Can't wait to read more updates!

Welcome back! I am so very happy to have Lacey at home even if it's just for a year.

You know that I'll read the trip report!

We need to do some kind of Dis Meet since you'll be at Disney the same time as we are!

Hey Lisa!
great finish to your Dollywood update; so sorry you guys had a hard time getting back to GA.

I missed out on the news about Lacey by using the links to get caught up so guess I need to go back and so some more research...

I showed Dayne the Adventure mtn and he can't wait to try that one out; sorry you guys missed the rollercoasters. The kids love the lost mine (something like that) that;s the one jen was talking about that is inside and starts out real quick.

:mickeyjum :mickeyjum Congrats! on scoring such a great rate for next year's trip! :mickeyjum :mickeyjum

:wave:Connie

I can't believe that I didn't think to print out the directions from Dollywood to Helen. I guess I was in a hurry to get things finished up before we left home.

John and Hunter both said Adventure Mountain was lots of fun. We had lots of fun at Dollywood despite the fact that we didn't ride any coasters.

I couldn't believe how much we saved by booking with free dining!

Hello I have just read your first trip to MK :) and I love how your family is "not normal" haha but then again who really is nowadays heheh :) and I am still not done reading your TR but it is making me want my vaca to come sssooooo badly :) and also I like the stitch ride but idk it might be because I am a stitch fan and they get a kick with my tattoos that I have of them :) but I just wanted to say hi and that your TR is awesome!!! :)

Hello! Glad to see you! We are definitely not "normal" but then, again, who defines normal?

You have Stitch tattoos? You should post a pic for us to see!

Hi Lisa! I'm back! My computer got another virus around 7/16 and I was without it for about 3 weeks, then we had a problem with the cable lines on our street and the cable company says it might take 2 weeks to fix so sometimes I can get online and sometimes nothing for days:mad: We also took a few short trips out of town most recently to Carrowinds. Anyway it took me a few hours but I am all caught up!

First of all l am so happy for you that Lacey is home with you again AND engaged AND might be going to Disney with you again! It brought tears to my eyes when I read that.

I wanted to wish you a late happy anniversary! and congrats on starting your own business.

Glad to hear you get to stay at CBR I know thats what you wanted!

Well hey girl! I've been wondering where you were. I was afraid some of you were sick.

I was happy to hear that Lacey had decided to come home for a while. We were worried we wouldn't get to see her as often.

Thanks for the congrats! We ended up staying home for our anniversary and going to eat with the kids. Ahhh, we are such romantics.:rotfl: I hope to get the business up and running soon. First, I have to get my stock done.

Hey Lisa! Great updates!! That is awesome news that you get to stay at "your" resort again!!!:yay:

I was extremely excited when I found out we could stay at the CBR and save money. Two big pluses!

Welcome to my trip report! Did you see all of the pics I posted of the CBR over on the resort picture thread? I posted a bunch over there a couple of days ago. (I haven't posted them on my trip report yet 'cause I haven't gotten to the day I took most of them.)

I'm glad that you feel like you know my family. That's exactly how I want my readers to feel......part of my family.:thumbsup2

I should be posting a Disney trip report installment tomorrow. Hopefully, I can keep the boss busy enough that I can do important stuff like posting on the Dis.;)

All caught up & it looks like ya'll had a great time! Love the outhouse! That is so cute!

I don't know if you noticed, but I have started my PTR!!!!

Wasn't the outhouse cute! I loved it! They also had dog houses made out of the same kind of materials.

Awesome update, Lisa!!! I love  the sunset photos overlooking the Mississippi!

I took so many pictures of the river and the bridges. I was playing around with my sunset settings on my camera. Some came out good...some not so good.

Great updates! Those pictures from Vicksburg are just so pretty!

Glad you guys had a great trip! Can't wait to read more reports!

Isn't the Mississippi River pretty!

Great update, Lisa. Now, on to DISNEY trip news. :woohoo:

I am ready to start talking about Disney again. (Like I don't do that every day anyway.:rotfl2:)

Great end to your GA road trip...love the pictures of the MS river and the entire setting. love the pic of the outhouse too much... fruit stand stop sounds like my dad's kinda place...
have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

Great update Lisa. Dale and I have been to Atlanta one time for a race and I HATED the traffic too. I have never been so happy to get out of place in all my life.

Dale and I have spent a lot of time at Talladega Superspeedway. I love the races :thumbsup2.

Yeah! Another update! I bet it felt good to be home after that drive. I would love to visit that fruit and veggie stand. I too now am craving peaches:rotfl:. I just had to tell you that we will be staying at your home away from home when we go to Disney in Jan. Any tips on what building to ask for? We did not get a preferred room but I'd like somewhere close to the food court and bus stops. Thanks.

Thanks!!Now all I want is some peaches.:) LOL I could actually smell them when I was reading your TR. Your trip sounded awesome.

The peaches were soooo good. I wish I had one right now too.

You are absolutely right about Atlanta traffic, I drove through it for 30 years! One of the best things about being retired is not having to do that anymore.

I went ahead and booked another Disney trip for next September today since they are offering free dining. Right now I'm booked at POFQ, but I may change it depending on if I like Pop to save a little money. I can't believe we have less than 3 weeks until our long awaited trip is finally here!

Terri

I would have been a nervous wreck if I had to drive in Atlanta every day. Like someone at Lacey's church said....you pick your poison and either drive straight through Atlanta or on the loop...either one is horrible.

Yea! for booking next year's trip. You may love Pop so much that you'll want to stay there again.

:cloud9:

By the time we had made it to Vicksburg, I had pretty much wiped away all makeup I had on. My hair was a mess that day thus the hat.

Oh I am always in the Disney mode. I have on a sterling silver little bitty Mickey head diamond ring and a gold Mickey head bracelet today. Gotta get my Disney fix somehow.:thumbsup2

We ended up eating every single one of the peaches. They were so very good.

Great end to your GA road trip...love the pictures of the MS river and the entire setting. love the pic of the outhouse too much... fruit stand stop sounds like my dad's kinda place...
have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

I was so glad that we stopped at the fruit stand. There was so much stuff in there and it was a neat place to walk around.

haha I will see if I can post the now.

Your tattoos are so cute! I think Lilo is my favorite.

Dale and I have spent a lot of time at Talladega Superspeedway. I love the races :thumbsup2.

The traffic makes me so nervous. It always seems to be in full-on "gotta get there" mode. Scary!

Yeah! Another update! I bet it felt good to be home after that drive. I would love to visit that fruit and veggie stand. I too now am craving peaches:rotfl:. I just had to tell you that we will be staying at your home away from home when we go to Disney in Jan. Any tips on what building to ask for? We were happy to get home. We didn't stop much on the way home. I knew I had to be rested for work the next morning.

Ooooh, you're staying at the CBR! Can I sneak into your luggage? Seriously, since you didn't get preferred, I'd probably suggest that you request Jamaica or non-preferred Martinique. Even though we were in the furthest building in Jamaica (41), the walk was still only about 5 minutes. We have also stayed in Martinique 23 which was non-preferred and the walk was about the same distance.

Ya'll my boss is driving me nutso today! His birthday is day after tomorrow and he better be glad that I've already bought his birthday gift. Otherwise, I may have conveniently forgotten. No, really, he is just in a funky mood. His mother goes back for her check-up next week and I am sure he's worried. She had cancer a few months ago and they did surgery. This will be her first "real" check-up since the surgery.

Anyway, I am going to write a little on my Disney report. I am thinking it's going to be pretty short because I can only find a few pics on Photobucket right now.

Okay, off to write.

Well, it's been a while since I've written about our Disney trip (the real reason this report was started in the first place) so I guess I need to do a little reminder of what we had done so far. Cliff notes version of course.

Started our day at the Magic Kingdom with me going to City Hall to turn in a memory card I found. Mama went with me while John and Hunter did this:

SANY2525.jpg

SANY2526.jpg

All met back up and joined all these folks walking down Main Street:

SANY2527.jpg

Turned right towards Tomorrowland and saw Stitch. John hates him! The tradeoff for him having to sit through Stitch was him getting to see his favorite woman....Roz....here:

SANY2538.jpg

***End of Cilff Notes version. Let's get down to what we did next.

Once we left The Laugh Floor, I suggested that I run over to Space Mountain and pick up Fastpasses for John, Hunter and I. But, before I did that, I wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear. We all got in line since the wait time was short. Mama and Hunter rode together and John and I rode together. Just like at Epcot, Mama did fine getting on the conveyor belt and into our spaceship! I took a few pics:

SANY2546.jpg

SANY2547.jpg

SANY2551.jpg

SANY2552.jpg

I can't remember who beat who but, just for the sake of this trip report, I'm going to say I smoked 'em all.:lmao:

Now I don't know about ya'll but I love the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Don't know what it is about it but I love it. The last time we went to Disney, it was under rehab so we didn't get to ride it.

I forewarned Mama about the steep conveyor belt on this one. It can make even the most agile of people weeble wobble. We were prepared. I got on first. Hunter got on at the same time as Mama and stood beside her and John stood behind her. After the initial "oopsy" moment, Mama did fine. We also warned her about the rotating floor that we would have to step onto when we got to the top. I told her it was like Spaceship Earth and she said could handle that. And, she did.

Soon, we were high above the Magic Kingdom and looking down and around the park:

SANY2556.jpg

SANY2557.jpg

Wouldn't you know it........................................................

..................................................................................................

John got a call:

SANY2559.jpg

I don't remember who it was but whoever it was, John told them that he couldn't talk right then and he'd call them back when we got off the ride.

SANY2560.jpg

After our tour on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (by the way, am I the only one who misses "paging Mr. Morrow....Mr. Tom Morrow"?), we exited and got on the "going down" conveyor belt. This time, John stood in front of Mama, I stood behind and Hunter stood to the side. Mama did just fine again.

I still hadn't gone over to get Space Mountain Fastpasses yet. Mama said she needed so we all walked over towards Space Mountain and the bathrooms. Along the way, we saw Chip and Dale in their space gear which was something we had never seen. We got in line and John's phone rang:

SANY2561.jpg

Instead of interrupting everyone else while waiting in line, he found a bench and talked. Mama and I decided we didn't want out picture made with Chip and Dale and let Hunter meet them.

SANY2562.jpg

SANY2563.jpg

SANY2565.jpg

***I got a little more done that I thought I would. It's almost time to start straightening up my desk for the end of the day so I'll stop here.

Lisa, you had me going. I thought after your "Wouldn't you know it...." and all the black that your boss interrupted and you stopped typing. Then I scrolled just a little further down and my favorite thing happened....John got another phone call. :lmao::lmao::lmao: And not one, but two within an hour. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Love the pictures of Hunter with Chip & Dale. I love seeing these guys...they always make a picture great with their antics.

Tomorrowland Transit Authority which has changed it's name back to something with the People Mover in it was closed when we were there last year. I heard the new narrative is awful.
