Who is the most relevant person in your life who has the same first name as you?

Same here, NannyBeBe. My name is more common in longer forms. I did once send a Christmas stocking to a Disboard member who shares my first name and long ago an Old Navy employee had my name as well.

I’m also in that situation. I’ve met several people with my name but I don’t actually know anyone who shares my name. The way my name is spelled is also an unusual variation from the norm.

My name is not one that is heard a lot. No one in my life has the same name.

I don't know anyone that has the same first name as me...

I share these with my name as well. my name also does not lend itself to be shortened/lengthened or allow for a 'nickname' variation. as a kid it was disappointing to never see souvineer type items sold at theme parks and vacation spots with my name (and for those of you old enough to remember this reference.....miss maryanne from 'romper room' never said she saw me in her magic mirror 😭 ).

so-did anyone else take this experience into naming their own kids?

Hug, Barkley. Yes, as a kid I was disappointed to never find a souvenir with my name on it. I don't have kids of mine. I have been so blessed by God to have gotten to learn from and teach/support, I pray, kids of different ages. If I did have children, I would have chosen a more common name.

My first name is pretty common and I do know several that have the same name and maybe one might be what you consider relevant.

Except for my Father, whom I was named after, I have never even personally met anyone with the same name. I know they are out their, just never met one.

Me too! There were more for my middle name which I hated, and still do.

...not sure if this counts, but I was named after the movie star of the day - Kim Novak.
(my siblings have "K" names also...)

I think in my lifetime I have maybe met three people with the same first name as me and shockingly had a friend in grade school who had the same first name as me and our birthdays were very close but otherwise I just don’t run into any people very often with the same name as me

Flyingdumbo I have a very close relative with your name but otherwise I have never met anybody beside you and my close relative with that name - supposedly my relation received that name from a soap opera characterbut I watched the same soap operas and I never heard that name mentioned on there so I don’t know🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

My first name is common but other than an old friend way back in grade school, I don't know anyone with it. It's actually considered a shortened version of another name although my name is not the longer version. I also know of only one other person who has the longer version, my grand daughter. They call her by the longer version and not my shorter version. (that was my son's way of getting around not naming her after me. I did not want her named after me so technically he didn't) When I tell my name to people like at fast food places to put on an order, 9 out 10 times they say it's an old fashioned name.
