Who is switching to Aldi's what are great buys

I have shopped there when in that area of town, but did not make a special trip. Now we are rethinking on the budget doing more there.

My ds and dh are working security there. Son does fine, dh spent every dime he earned the two nights he worked last week

He would see people walking out with Rubbermaid storge closets, $19, shelfing $8, camo folding chairs $3, Glass ornamental jars to fill .50 cents. Great for a make your holiday gift idea.The clearences were amazing. This week may be sleeping bags.

The generic Claritin under $2, leary on where it produced ie) China?

How are the Veg's and fruits; potatoes, onions, broccoli, Eggs, butter, etc..

I vary home cooked meals, soup stews, chicken broccoli and rice, Spegehtti, frozen pizza for snacks. I like to have frozen nuggests, things like that on hand and canned soups.

What are these products like? THe baby backed ribs were not very good, no meat on them, and taste was not great......

I noticed that many people that I use to see at the local market are now shopping Aldi's.

OH, I I love SAMS Club chicken roasters for the $5,99. They are huge. I get two and have left overs for sandwhiches, and left overs.

Aldi is hit or miss. Staples - Flour, Sugar, Oil, Olive oil are great deals. Canned goods - beans, corns, etc. Nuts.

Their Spaghetti Sauce and coffee are awful.

I love their Hummus.

Their uncrustable sandwiches are made by smuckers.

Frozen Pizzas are ok - comparable to Jack's, IMO.

We really like Aldi. I have noticed that their produce seems to spoil faster so we only buy it if we'll use it that day or the next.
I'm trying to lose weight and I really like their Fit and Active line.
Unlike the previous poster, we really like their spaghetti sauce. Aldi sells two kinds - we buy the "premium" version and I think it is similar to Prego.
We haven't like some of the frozen entrees, but we don't usually like that stuff from other brands either.

Very hit and miss and the prices bounce around too much to depend on shopping there. Milk may be $1.99 one day, $1.49 the next, $2.29 the next, and .99 the next.

I find that coupon and ad shopping at Kroger and Meijer makes things cheaper than Aldi.

I buy my baking supplies and cupboard "staples" at Aldi - flour, sugar, real vanilla, etc. Their cereals are really, really good...my kids prefer them to name brand. I also buy instant oatmeal, pancake mix, and syrup there. My DH's favorite are precooked, frozen sausage patties - a package of 30 of them - is only $3.69 and makes sausage McMuffins that taste exactly like McDonalds.

Some things can be hit or miss. I usually stop there once or twice a month to stock up.

I also buy their slightly more expensive pasta sauce and love it. I also like their coffee very much.

Baking stuff is great, as are snacks, cereals, eggs, Mexican stuff (tortillas, refried beans, etc.). I buy certain produce there--bananas, pineapples, mushrooms, potatoes and it's fine. The dried beans are a steal.

I don't buy much in the way of prepared/frozen food, so I can't say how that is.

Their chocolate bars are to die for.

Rarely do I shop another store now. We buy 90% of our food there. The caned fruit and applesauce, canned pasta (ravioli types) baking goods, chips, crackers, pudding, cheese, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, frozen food fav's are General Tao's chicken, chicken stir fry, popcorn chicken. I could go on and on.

I don't have time to search the internet for coupons and I don't get the newspaper. (Too expensive and I would never take the time to cut the coupons out to regain my money)

I do not by all of my meat there or my milk... I am a milk snob.

We love Aldis and have shopped there for years. I have only bought the fresh meat once. I was not impressed so we use Sams Club for that. I mostly shop the perimeter. Milk, butter, eggs, cheese are great deals. The kids to like the cereals and the specialty cheeses (gorgonzola, blue cheese, provalone) can not be beat. The fruits and veggies are great but do check them over carefully and don't buy to much. They do seem to ripen faster than other stores. We love the frozen turkey and hamburger patties as well as the chicken nuggets and poppers. The frozen shrimp is very good as well as any of the canned goods. Check out the ice cream, frozen pies or desserts for a special treat. I find the frozen meals and pizza are OK but I usually get better deals w/ coupons other places.
Keep a price book and remember that anything you don't like can be returned for 100% cash back. We even complained about the honeysuckle turkey breast we did not like (too much salt) and recieved a refund w/ the reciept even though we did not save the leftovers.

A 2nd Aldi's has just opened near us. I have been stopping weekly, as I have a weekly appointment up the street. You cannot beat their prices on milk. Chocolate bars are great. Staples are okay. I have not tried a huge amount of their products. A lot seem to be really sweet (their ketchup ).

Last week I got a bottle of my dh's cologne (polo sport), that sells for $47.50 at Macy's, for $26.99. This week they had some Disney stuff - fleece throws, kids bedrests, plastic storage and drawers - but the prices did not seem to be any great buy.

I will stop there for milk and a few items every week, but the majority of my shopping will still need to be done elsewhere.

I have been making about 2 trips per month there lately to stock up on pantry items, frozen foods and certain meats and dairy.

DH loves the mini sausage biscuits for a quick breakfast and they are only $2.99/box (the equivalent is $5.99 at our Kroger) and the frozen meatballs are great on days I have to work and need something easy ($1.99 for the Aldi version vs. $4.99 for the Kroger). I do prefer fresh meat most of the time and this Aldi doesn't have a huge selection but what I have gotten has been good so far.

Most things are pretty good to us. I still make my regular trips to Kroger for the name brand stuff (Coke, dog food, coffee, girl products and whatnot).

I have noticed that for our family of 6 (plus a dog and cat ), I am saving close to $200/month by making those trips to Aldi. I also use a lot of coupons at the regular stores but even accounting for that, there is a substantial savings to be had at Aldi.

I have loved Aldi's for years! I still can't believe some people won't go there because it's not "name brand". Nevermind that half of the non name brand items are actually made by the big guys! But anyway.......

Flour, sugar, salad mix, cereal, baking supplies, are the best there. Especially nuts and corn syrup (this time of year) are really inexpensive. Seriously, the best breakfast sausage EVER---so good and so cheap. Their cool whip is great, and I love their ice cream which is still a full 1/2 gallon for only $1.99. And who can beat bread for less than $1 a loaf.... and hot dog and hamburger rolls are great.

My husband and I love their self rising frozen pizzas---way better than digiorno! And the french bread pizza's a quick easy lunch! I don't really buy fresh meats from them........Wegmans is cheaper and better for that when it's on sale. And the canned veggies are great too!

And 9/10 times you go there they have some kind of name brand item on sale for really cheap----like UNO's frozen pizzas for $5! And they're fantastic!

I too am an Aldi's shopper. Its a bit out of the way for me, but well worth the extra miles. I've not tried any of the frozen meats or foods. After reading some of the above comments, I will be on the next trip.

You can't beat the prices on dry goods. Cereals are great, you can't tell the difference from the 5 dollar a box name brands. Rice, pasta, taco shells, canned goods, butter, eggs, yogurt, cheese, I rank them right up there with the name brands.

I can come out of Aldi's with a cart full and have spent under 50 bucks. With the economy like it is, I will continue to shop Aldi's. Any extra money in my pocket is a good thing. Especially with Christmas right around the corner.

We are regular Aldi shoppers as well. We purchase almost everything there. Their dairy products are great. Milk tatstes great it's in a opaque bottle, their block cheese is 1.29 for 8 ounces. you can't beat that for cheddar, colby etc. I shread my own and it stays fresher. We buy all of our snack crackers there. The Cornbread crackers are awesome. ( a seasonal item) but there "waverly wafers" are great too!. We love the fresh sweet onion salsa. I buy my ground beef there and pork loin and chops there too.( fresh). I love the frozen southern style breaded chicken breasts. they taste just like Mc Donalds, great baked in the oven. WE love the "Grandessa" House salad dressing. As said before Ice cream is a steal, its very very good. Also, I love thier grapes. Dh gets his vitamins there, tooth brushes.. I like the shampoo. We also love their frozen shrimp. I use some of the makeup and the facial care. also thier fresh flowers are 3.99 for a large bouquet. We usually spend 80.00 a week and we eat well. That inlcudes cleaning supplies, paper, meat and stock up on items that are only there for a special time. We do some additional shopping for my diet store brand "mountain dew" at another store, but thats about it. I am shocked when we have to pick something up elsewhere and I compare prices! I usually end up doing without till I can get to Aldi!

As strange as it sounds, I love their garbage bags! I'm a total garbage bag snob and and spending $$ on cheap ones if they're thin and flimsy just ticks me off. The Aldi ones are nice, thick and sturdy.

We do Aldi's and all of our staples come from there. Their honey wheat bread is awesome! All of our canned veggies, tortillas, tortilla chips, rotel, black beans, and eggs come from there.

We love that store.
