Who is selling girl scout cookies here?

I never knew until today that the cost of the cookies depends on the state. I have one co-worker from New York selling boxes for her niece at $3,50 a box, while another co-worker from New Jersey selling them for her daughter has to charge $4 a box. I was told Connecticut is $4 also.

That got me curious - how much are they in your area?

PS - I'm buying from both girls.
Only $3.25 here!

Thanks. what span of time do you book for, an hour? more?

I do them from 9-3. I think most grocery stores want you to book for the day. You can also split the day with a another troop if you don't want to do all day. I may do that with my daisy troop.

NNJ Here. They went up to $4.00 this year. Last year they were $3.50. To bad our profit didn't go up  Although I think we are higher than other locations

Wow! I didn't realize it was different in different places, either! Our girls get a tie dye bandanna for 65-119 boxes, 120-174 gets a choice of a pewter panda or a doodle frame or $10 in "cookie credits" that they can use to pay for camp or other events, they do get better from there (mostly panda-themed), but it's so hard for them to get that high in an area so innundated with scouts. :sad2:

Our incentives are:
25+ Theme Patch
50+ Tie Dye Bandana
75+ Wristlet Wallet
100+ Bar Patch
100+ Miranda Panda
12+ Panda Shirt
150+ Tie Dye tote bag
200+ pillow case
300+
Tie Dye Blanket
Mama Panda 400+
500+ Free GS Membership
1000+ $150 best buy GC

Also for initial orders 75+ cookie patch pin
100= beanie cap

Profits from $.60-$.75

and go up to $1.10 for the older girls with no incentives

Our Sale starts on 1/23 so dd is gearing up. This is our fourth year selling cookies. Last year she sold 350 boxes. :scared1:

Our troop goal is 173 boxes per girl to pay for an overnight to Sea World in San Diego. DD will have no problem with that but I can say as cookie mom/leader that over half of our troop will. But we can fix that with booth sales.

My troop is going for this goal too. Although they have to sell a lot more than 173 boxes, lol

We usually average about 300 per girl. I have 6 girls in my Cadette troop

Ours are $4 (south suburb of Chicago) and this year we switched to "Little Brownie" for the bakery.

and here are the incentives,

1+ Thank You certificate
50+ Patch
100+ Embroidered Fleece Throw
200+ Panda plush
300+ BaB $25 gift card
400+ digital photo keychain
500+ MP3 player
750+ $100 American Girl certificate
1000+ Digital Camera
1250+ Netbook

Towncrier ~ Our Cub Scout Troop did popcorn sales this past Fall, not sure if that is the same across the country.

Oh, yay. This must mean that cookie sales are coming my way.

I have three girls that I order from annually. I hope they are still in the program.

Between the price and the decline in quality (flavor), I don't purchase GS cookies anymore, but if DD's FIL was near you, your "goal" would be very realistic..;) LOL..

3.50 here in Mo too-- I hate cookie time- I would rather just give each troop $50 instead of trapsing all over the place and working cookie booths.

We actually give out parents that option.. but many dont take us up on it.. For falls sales I tell them donate $20 to the troop that equals $200 worth of sales. They still dont.

start calling now for a location. I had mine booked 6 weeks ago. We only have a 3 weeks period to have a booth sales and I know the local grocery stores are all booked already.

Be careful. Our service unit reserves the spaces, then assigns to troops by lottery.

Our troop is donating cookies to a marine batallion that is deployed right now so even if you don't want cookies you can donate to a good casue.

It's unfortunate, but true. Used to be I would easily munch down most of a sleeve of Thin Mints at a sitting. Now, I got two boxes for the fall drive and still have 1 3/4 boxes left. I may just throw them out. Guess the elimination of transfats did help - not eating them at all is MUCH healthier than before!

I'm pretty disappointed. I used to love GS cookie time. I thought the GS had the ultimate scam - enlist all the little girls to market cookies who then grew up and, remembering, felt obligated to buy GS cookies. Now I'll just give a couple bucks as a donation and they can keep the cookies.

Good luck to all the little Girl Scouts (and cookie moms - the unsung heroes of Cookie time!)

can you all tell me something? Our neighbor's daughter will be coming soon. Hubby just had a cardiac issue, put on a low sodium, low fat, low cholesterol diet. I look at the nutritional info and see that the lowest sodium one they have is the "Daisy Go-Rounds." I don't know if he'll go for it or not, he loves the tagalongs. What do they taste like? We might just break down and buy the tagalongs and put him on a strick ration, don't know if I'm up for that fight or not.

ETA: Went looking a bit more and now see two different options. Peanut butter patties and tagalongs are not the same? Now to figure out which one she sells, seems like the tagalongs are better than the PB patties. At least this one has more options with lower sodium.

The baker we used last year had Daisy Go-Rounds and we loved them here. They were bite size cinnamon flavored cookies that came in an individual "snack size" package, I think 5 per box. They were good enough that I plan to look to see if another council in the area is using that baker instead of the one we are.

I never heard of the daisy go rounds. Here we have a berry one that is thank you berry much.
I think the pb patties don't hold a flame to the tag alongs but nutrition wise it isn't as bad as the tagalongs.

::yes:: True. Most troops do the Gift of Caring. Our cookie mom always tells the girls they can tell their customers that donating cookies is calorie-free! ;)

Our troop always does the Gift of Caring. We donate to an organization that sends care packages to the troops overseas. We get a much better donation rate with this group than we did by telling people they were going to the local food bank. Weird.

We also switched to Little Brownie this year. I loved the ABC cookies. I really don't see the difference between the core cookies but some people say they taste different. I liked ABCs other cookies such as the Daisy Go Rounds and the Thanks a Lot. I have to find a troop that is selling ABC cookies so that I can get my stash. Anyone want to ship to Jersey?? :rolleyes1
