Who Is Ready For Some Snow This Weekend?

We got 8 inches. Now we are getting sleet/freezing rain. Nothing is really plowed. Everything is closed tomorrow, and some places until Tuesday. Looking forward to hunkering down at home but I am over winter.

I think the precipitation is over for us in DFW. Wound up with just shy of 4 inches of sleet. I had to use the hammer to knock it back so we could open the gate in our backyard to get to our cars. Wanted to go out and crank them for a minute. Glad we did as mine was slow to turn over.

We were in the predicted 8” to 12” zone on most models, but got maybe 6 or 7 inches before it changed to sleet. My landscape service plowed my driveway and shoveled the walk about 4pm.

There is about an inch of frozen sleet now, crunchy tiny pebble-like particles, so there is traction, not slippery. Thankfully no freezing rain that causes a sheet of slippery ice.

In the end we got almost nothing.

Maybe 1/3 of an inch of sleet and a glazing of freezing rain.

Thankfully a far cry from the 1-2 inches of freezing rain that was predicted.

Looking at my power companies outage map they currently have 1 customer out of 266481 served that is in an outage state.

About 8" with ice on top.

Watching something for next weekend, but this didn't seem nearly as bad as it could have been so I'm ready.

I am very happy to report that we got absolutely nothing but cold rain. They mentioned something about a pocket of warm air aloft as the precip moved in the freeze line moved south. We still have to be careful since nothing here is built for extended hard freeze conditions, but thankful that we didn't get the ice storm they were predicting. I did see some flurries yesterday, which was nice :)

Younger son just sent me this picture out his college house’s front window this morning. That’s his car buried under all the snow. This is southern Ohio, not an area that typically gets more than an inch or two of snow.

Hopefully his roommates can help him unbury the car - he’s still recovering from shoulder surgery so he essentially has one arm right now.

Not sure of how much we got exactly but it was a lot. Will take more pictures today before we get our second round. (MA Seacoast.)

This was yesterday afternoon, before it got bad.

Meanwhile all our FL friends or people visiting there are sending us pool pics just to rub it in. :lmao:

Youngest DS just called. They live in Indianapolis. Being an ATC at Indianapolis Airport he still had to go to work. He did get stuck traveling home last night from work. He says they got anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of snow. No planes were flying in or out of the airport but he said they were still busy assisting pilots flying above.
