who is grilling outside more? Instead of heating the A/C air we just paid to make?

We are, and getting pretty good at it.

last night marcie baked a homade pizza on the grill. It was perfect, not a single burn spot on the bottom.

tonight I am boiling some crab legs on the burner (they were $4.99 a pound at jewel!). and baking some cornbread muffins on the main grill. Probably blanch some garlic broccolli as the veggy.

DH went out and bought some steaks for the grill. We rarely have that. I have potatoes baking on the grill. No way I am using the oven and wasting the AC.

Nope, not me. I started our grill this week and when I came back out with the chicken I was going to grill, it was in flames! Right next to the propane tank! I about blew up my house! There is a hole in our deck now too. :scared1:Dh just took the grill to the dump. It was an old Weber, guess I'll have to see if any are on clearance.

WOW! and OUCH!

we got a great grill at a great price at sears about three years ago. they should be on sale everywhere this late in summer.

maybe a charcoal setup and no lighter fluid, might be a little easier on the mind after that affair?

oh, but how was the chicken? charred?

Mmmmmm.

I love baked potatoes. just washed and baked or washed, a little bit of olive oil then a little sprinkle of italian seasonings. wrap in foil and bake til soft.

then unwrap and eat the whole thing. mmmmm

we are only cooking for two, and I hate running the grill that long for just two potatoes. so I cook many and we have leftovers for a week. hehehehehee

We've been using the grill a lot this summer too. We found a wonderful grocery store that has a big meat counter in the back, where you can pick out the steaks you want and not buy pre-packaged stuff. We've had a few different types of steaks, and DH wanted to try their homemade brats (green pepper and onion) and we tried their stuffed pork chops too.

We do Vidalia onions on the grill too, cut smaller ones in half, put a dab of butter and a bit of seasoning salt and then wrap in foil. Cook on the grill on low for about an hour and they are wonderful. Kind of caramelized and really soft and sweet.

We like to grill sliced zucchini and summer squash too. Delicious!!

Oh yeah, grilled onions...

take your favorite onion, except maybe red...

core it halfway down, smash it up a bit to soften
then add (fill to your taste) some terriyaki into the hole and grill till done.

softening it helps the terryaki get deepre into the onion a little quicker. the problem is you can not turn it over completely or the sauce runs out...
you can microwave it for a few minutes to get a head start. then finish on the grill

I wish we could use our grill, but the smoke "bothers" our neighbor.

:sad2:

Last time we grilled, she had a coughing fit for an hour, came OVER to our place and told us that the smoke was coming in through her heating vents. :confused3 Then she coughed for another hour. Nobody elses grill smoke bothers her! :thumbsup2

I couldn't grill out more than I already do!!!! I grill whether it is sunny out or blizzard conditions:worship:. My grill gets more of a workout than a guy with 6 pack abs who visits the gym:banana:!

Go Weber:thumbsup2!

I just have to shorten those moments the door is open going in and out. to keep more A/C inside and more heat out.

If everything is prepared I can sit on the patio while cooking. but that is rarely an option. heheheheee

We don't have air conditioning and today is pretty cool so I'm doing tacos tonight. It's supposed to warm up though, so tomorrow I'm doing what we call "lazy bobs" - chunks of marinated meat and vegies done on in a grill pan on the BBQ. I'm too lazy for skewers.

During a heat wave I can go for weeks cooking exclusively on the grill.

I grill 90% of our meals in the summer when it is sizzling out.

The other 10% would be pasta & yes I can boil it on the grill burner but I'd need 2 burners & I only have one.

I start grilling as soon as it is warm enough for me to do so.
