Ok so Im cruising through ebay, doing a bit of shopping, and there they are. The brand new giclee prints are on ebay and selling. Who is buying them? Didn't every single member get one?
On the member website Disney is selling the same prints that they mailed members "while supplies last" for $50 plus tax and shipping. Here is a quote form that website:
This limited-edition giclee print depicts the magical neighborhood of Disney Vacation Club Resorts, along with the community's most beloved resident - Mickey Mouse himself! Commissioned by Disney Vacation Development, Inc. in Celebration, Florida, this giclee print was created exclusively for Disney Vacation Club Members in 2006 to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of Disney Vacation Club.
Additional prints of the Disney Vacation Club 15th Anniversary Commemorative Giclee Print are available for $50 plus tax and shipping.
There are many people that collect any limited edition Disney artwork (regardless of what the subject is). I'm guessing these are the ones that are buying off ebay.
I won't be buying DVC til mid-next year (we want to pay cash) but I fell in love with the print
so I found a terrific "buy-now" offer on EBay and am getting ready to frame and hang my "Inspiration to Save" print this weekend
FWIW I don't think I would have paid $50 + shipping, my combined price off of Ebay was $26 and I felt a little guilty about that.
Our original plans were to go after a 90-120 pt OKW contract w/ 100 point Oct UY being our ideal. However - we adore AKL, so AKV
is really really tempting (SSR is very nice but we felt out of place - like we were visiting a rich relative or something) so despite price
incentives we never really considered buying there as we wouldn't be happy there if we had to stay there. But I want to see the point
break down for AKV before we decide that it's "home".
and I do babble on but yes there are non DVC members out there who want to own the print for a variety of reasons LOL
Also guilty for the same reasons - am hoping to buy DVC next year, and therefore won't get one for free, and have a reasonable collection of other limited-edition Disney art. If the receipient doesn't want it, I can give it a good home.....
If they're sending out one per contract, then maybe there *are* members buying them, too. I know of several people who own with family members that don't live in the same household (parents, siblings, etc.), so maybe some of those folks are picking them up.
I am a new member who bought into DVC this month, and we are not elligible to get one. I think it goes to members as of August. So, there is another market of buyers out there. (Not me though.)
He wants to jab pins thru the print? Sounds like a good idea to me, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to do it since they are limited ed... maybe if I had just an extra one laying around...

I also bought one off of e-bay. I bought right after the cut off date. I called my guide and was told I wouldn't receive it - the previous owner would receive it. There was no way I wasn't going to get my hands on one. I purchased it for $20.00 plus 6.00 shipping. I was kinda bummed when I saw some go for $9.00 - but oh well. Better than $50.00 with them.
