Who is buying Pal Mickey?

It is just my husband and I and we will be buying one when we head down on Aug 29th for our 10th Wedding Ann. trip. What's another $50 here or there;)

Donna I think if you purchase you get a new one in a box. If you rent, the plush portion will have been cleaned and sanitized. I read a couple of complaints about the clip and how anytime you bend over or sit down he has a tendency to fall off. Some people clip him on their camera strap. I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't some harness device that Disney starts selling to go with your Pal.

I can't wait to get one!! I am over 30;), going with DH and DD4, and DD5, but I want one for ME . The girls can pick out their own toys from the gift shop ;) .

I will be getting one. Although, I wasn't thinking about the kids when I made this decision. :o I want him for my self. However, I'll be a good mommy and share!!:teeth:

Well hello to all you would be PAL MICKEY buyer's.

WE were down in Disney during Easter Break and my daughter and I were number 2 & 3 purchaser's in all of Disney. They were released at OKW first on Tuesday following Easter. I'm 50+ and my daughter is near 30. My grandson 10 used it also. We really enjoyed it and passed it around to the group when he giggled.

I really liked when we were in the cue line at Splash mountain and he told us to put him away so he would not get wet.

The clip is similiar to a cell phone belt clip. It has a hook on one side which slides into a loop on the back of Mickey's shirt and the spring clip can go around anything. AS someone mentioned, I kept him clipped around my camera strap and had no problem with him falling off.

For the people looking to get him before going down to wdw I've seen them listed on ebay. Since we're back we have our two on our book shelf along with our other Disney characters just waiting for us to return in September.

Just for information, the word has it that there will be Mickey friends introduced in the near future.

If you have any questions on his operation, just ask away.

Enjoy him, He is well worth the $50.00.

I am getting him for my 10 month old grandson (and me) to share. If I did not have my grandson everyone would make fun of me but I know they would all be holding and playing with it more than I would get to.

I may just buy me one to bring home and not tell anyone and put it on a shelf. That way their grubby hands will not be touching mine.

Kathy

You are never to old to have fun!

Let me tell you our experience with our Pal Mickey. We had a free day with him through the DVC. We used him in MGM first, He did tell us some important things and he did tell jokes. Then we went to Epcot on the same day. He gave us directions on where we were and did tell other jokes. Then we went to the MK. He didn't work as well there. When we first walked in he did not vibrate or giggle as we pasted through the tunnel like he did at the other two parks. He also did not give us any information at the statue of Roy and Minnie. We got all the way to the information board and still nothing. The CM there told us to go back out through the tunnel so that Mickey could "down-load" the info did that and still didn't work. We then went to Guest Relations and the CM there stated that they were having some problems with some of the Mickeys. If you don't hold him a certain way he will not work properly. She came out with us and showed us how to hold him and said that the MK is one of the parks that Mickey was having a problem. He did finally work after a while. He is cute and tells some great jokes and plays some good games, but in my opion I am going to wait before buying one. It was good that we got to use him for free, but I will not be paying for him anytime soon. Oh it took almost 45 mins for the 3 CMs at the Screen Door to figure out how to ring up Mickey for us. The instructions they had were wrong. They had to get a supervisor to show them how to do it correctly. When we returned it they had new instructions and they were still wrong! Hope they get this straightened out soon. Mickey has only been out for 2 weeks. So maybe by next year they will have the "bugs" out.

Are we now so lazy we do not want to read maps and schedules?

When I heard about Pal Mickey I thought I would snap it up in a hearbeat. Then I started thinking: DW and I have been to WDW nearly 30 times, our kids are grown, do I really need to drop $50 on this? Is he really going to tell me anything I don't already know? Am I going to schlep a plush creature around with me in the heat and humidity? Isn't what I really need that $225 Mickey lamp in the gift shop at the GF?:earsboy:

I bought one! I just got back yesterday from 11 wonderful days at the Poly and WDW. I couldn't wait to get my hands on Pal Mickey! He really is worth the $50. I will be bringing him back for my next trip in October.

Looks like you have all sold me. How many of you really work for Disney anyway;) ;) ;) .

I think I will get them for my girls too. I'm worried we may lose it. We did lose one of those mister fans (yes, I was fool enough to buy them - so, I spent $50.00 on them and only have 2).

But it sounds like such fun. And just may keep my DDs from fighting:)

I have a feeling we'll be buying one. Ds is 4.5, and I'm sure I'll...um HE, yes he will simply *have* to have one! ;)

I plan on buying one for my August trip. I hope by then any and all bugs will be worked out. PalMickey sounds adorable!

Where would one find some detailed information on what Pal Mickey does and looks like?

thanks for any help!
Gregg

We bought one for our DD who is 5. But most of the time it is attached to me. For someone who knows the parks like the back of my hand, most of what he has to say, I already know. But he does provide info about parts of the park that I never knew before. He is also amusing when it comes to certain rides in the park..like TOT. In the past few weeks it has been very hot and having him attached to my belt hasn't made a differance.

Where can you buy them at DW? Is there one place in each park, or are they available at most of the stores?

Deb has a page with some info and her review of Pal Mickey .

Feralpeg - you will find the info you need there also.

Thanks! So does it actually give you info on rides wait times, etc? That would be cool if it did ....

ALLRIGHT! I get to share my experience with PAL mickey!

Well, my fiance & I bought him on our trip (a week ago) and fell in love with him instantly. We were going to rent him first to try him out, but for a $50 deposit & $8 to rent him(which you only get to keep him until noon... Rediculous!), we decided to buy him. He was so much fun! We also found out that right now Disney is changing his sensors throughout the park to be more/less sensitive & such.

The only problem I had with him is that when I had him on my beltclipy thingie, when I would go through turnstyles, he would sometimes get caught up in them, so I had to de-clip him when we went through them.

I think EVERYONE should go out & get them!

He also DOES help out a lot on ride times, when parades are going to start & the best place to see them and all... He even says funny quotes after rides, like on the haunted mansion he said when we were loading "Gee, I, uh, I hope this isn't too scary for YOU guys!" & on space mountain, he said "pull my ears back against my head. Go ahead it won't hurt! This is what we're gonna look like on space mountain!"

DW picked Mickey up at OKW on the 2nd. She had a blast with him. Love corny jokes and heard he has quite a few.:)
