Hi all! I'm hoping to get started on a big fall/winter project- beginning to scrapbook for my 2 DS's. The oldest is 5 and the little guy will be 2 in November. I have done the older one's book up until age 18 months, but now I'm looking to really get into it, and I have no idea where to begin. What types of materials will I need? Where do I get the stuff (I'm in a suburb of Chicago, shopping is no problem)? Anybody have any examples of pages they have done- especially WDW trips?

There is a scrapping board here, but I haven't really spent much time on it.

I scrap, when school is not in session. I have done our wedding, and am starting a generic vacation book.

I don't think yuo need much to get started, and even to make great pages, but you can get very very involved and very very expensive if you desire.

I think acid free album, acid free papers, good scissors, adhesive, and a paper cutter is about as basic as you can get. I've done some great color block pages just using that.

Online, my fave scrapbook place is www.twopeasinabucket.com There are TONS of pages that people have uploaded, they have tips on how to use things, layout ideas, etc. When I need inspiration, I flip through that site =)

GOOD LUCK!

My wife does ,my computer room is being overrun with scrapbooking supplys, she goes to all the scrapbooking conventions. She just won a trip back to the one in camp hill .pa for next year too.She just finished our wedding and is now working on our last disney trip.

I have , but I haven't done much in the past. I do them for everything, family, pets, vacations, etc.

I get alot of supplies at Michaels, AC Moore and other more local places.

Another vote for visiting the scrapbook board.

I've done a bunch of albums. Two of them are Disney, but I've never scanned any of my pages. One of these days I'll get around to that, I guess.

Personally, I prefer Creative Memories supplies, at least the albums, pages and page protectors, but I use many different companies for stickers, markers, etc. I have not gotten very fancy but I've seen some really cool pages. If I cannot complete a 2-page spread in an hour or so, I lose interest. If you don't know any CM consultants, I think from the main website, you can look up someone in your area. The CM's around here have all day crops, displays, shows, even classes thru our county Recreation office. I also like picking up the idea books and catalogs at Michael's and other craft stores.

I'm a scrapper. Some of my work is in link in my siggy. I haven't scrapped much in the past months -- mostly in the winter.....and I'm very SLOW at it because I'm a perfectionist. It drives me NUTS. Wish I could just get caught up.

Yup, visit the scrap board.
Wanna see GREAT work? Visit Timon's website (a DIS member) at http://www.cassworld.ca/

There's so much out there that you could buy, but if you are really needing help starting, I'd suggest going to a workshop either through a company like Creative Memories (at home parties), or through your local craft store. Also, there are plenty resources online, and I do believe there's even a Scrapbook board here on the Dis. I need to frequent that one! :)

definately come over to the scrap board! We have a great group who share ideas and info!
I love to scrap and love to shop for scrapping supplies! LOL!
If you do a search you will find a lot of info about new to scrapping! Plus one of the first posting is about scrapping and some great info!

Hi.. If you want a Creative memory consultant in Chi suburbs or want to scrap with us one night let me know... we can all show your our WDW albums..:teeth:

The good thing about scrapbooking is that you can be as elaborate or as plain as you like! I've seen some really fancy ones but I'm more results oriented. I want that stuff in a book and outta my way as soon as possible so mine tend to be on the plain side with more journaling and little souvenir type items I've picked up to go along with the photos.

The funny thing is that I've done this since I was a little girl (and I'm in my 40's) when I found an old scrapbook that a relative had done in the 1800's. With all the new interest and the popularity of scrapping, I'm always amazed at the variety of products you can find nowadays!

I have a book that has old Disneyland tickets in it from when I was about 10. All the E tickets were gone but there are some A's & B's left. It's really interesting to see the stuff that I thought was worth saving back then.

I love CM. I would suggest you go to www.creativememories.com and look for a consultant in your area. You can do a search for one.

I started out with CM, had no idea really about scrapbooking but wanted to do it for my kids and then I read about CM here on the Dis boards and did a search of my own for a consultant, went over there and learned so much, tried stuff out and loved what they had, the quality and everything else.

It is a great place to start, they make things quick and easy. Simple pages (which is good for starting so not to get too overwhelmed) and they have cute layout ideas.

Another scrapper here!

One big tip that helped me get going in the right direction is to start with your most current pics and work backward. That way I don't feel too overwhelmed and I get so much more done.

The twopeas site mentioned above is great and has a great gallery for you to look at and "scraplift" from. Great ideas from very scrappy ladies!

Good Luck and have fun!

Here's another invite to the dis scrap board!

I use both creative memories and stuff from Michaels and the local scrapbook store (LSS).

I do although I haven't touched it since I moved. :( I miss my scrapbooking buddies!!! :(

I'm a Close to My Heart addict!! They have beautiful things. LOVE their albums and sheet protectors. And their 12 x 12s are true to size. NO TRIMMING pages!! Woo hooo! :teeth:

I visit a bunch of web sites to buy things. Too much. :)

Currently Im a little burned out so I'm taking a break till the next scrap swap is posted and I can start that :) -em

I am a scrapper too, and I didn't know we had a spot here on the DIS ( forgive me, I'm new here!)-how exciting!
I like the CM albums and protectors, but recently saw the ones that are available from Close to My Heart and I think I am going to give them a try. they feel very sturdy.
In my area, we have 2 nice scrabbook supply stores, as well as Michaels and ACMoore- plenty of choice for me. I keep promising myself"no more paper!!!!!!" but I just can't help it:)

Me, Me, Me!!! I'm a scrapbooker! I used to be horribly addicted to it I think but then I went through a period of time (one year) that I was just too stressed to scrap. Thankfully I've been cured, lol and I'm back to scrapping again!

I think you'll like them. I started with CM. Didn't care for the protectors at all...had trouble getting them on, one split down a seam! That's when they lost me. CTMH's are beautiful. Drop your pages down inside without a problem. And I prefer the opening at the top.
