Who here uses CM's SBC+ for digital scrapping?

Hi everyone - great thread! I'm a CMC and was just at the national conference where I talked with the SBC+ gurus. They know that being able to work on side by side pages is a big issue and they are working on that. They are also trying to work on a solution that works for Macs. My biggest pet peeve is that SBC+ and MM2 don't "talk" to each other. They said that should be fixed with the new MM2 upgrade. Sounded like that should be out early next year.

Hello Everyone!

I have been away from the boards for a little bit - my laptop died - but I got a new one on Monday!!
As Christy mentioned - I had been dragging a completed page over to get perspective on a two page layout - but now I have started to work on pages side by side and putting one of the pages to the side of the workspace and then grouping and copying and pasting into another page. It works well - but you have to reduce to 25% to look at them side by side.

noahsmom - the MM2 part is really frustrating - that was the first thing that I thought when I started using the program. I barely use my MM2 for anything but organization as a result... can't wait for the upgrade and for the tearing tool and other upgrades that Dawn Oldham said were coming (although she didn't go into detailed explanation) - did you get the scoop on this at Showcase?

Also - did you get a chance to look at the new side loading sleeves? They look like an ideal solution for hybrid scrappers.

Glad you joined us!!!!

Anyone else doing the webinars tomorrow? I did the first one last week, but I'm going to do tomorrow's morning session, too, in case there's anything I missed!

I watched last Thursday but may try (two kids 4 & 11 and a dog) to catch the one tomorrow. Jessica I love your blog!! I stalk it at least a couple times a week! When ever I have it up my daughter thinks I am you! I have curly hair, slightly red and wear glasses. Too funny!!

This is kind of a weird question but after you purchase SBC+ can you download it onto two computers? I want to get a laptop and my SBC is on our pc.

Tiffany

Does anyone have an itinerary page that they would be willing to share? I so need inspiration!!! TIA!!

Maybe you are my long lost twin!! :lmao:

You can't have it on two computers without buying two copies, but you can call Cm and hey will help you move it to your laptop. I have done that already.

I got some scoop at Showcase. I asked why the 2 programs don't talk to each other and it's because they were created on different platforms, SBC+ is newer and created in .net, the new version of MM will be done in .net which should solve some problems. I like MM for it's editing tools, I think it's much easier then using PE.

The new side loading sleeves are awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on them. The price is equal to regular pages plus protectors. I really like some of the changes they are making.

I'm signed up for the webinar tomorrow.... looking forward to it!

I ALSO will LOVE it when MM and SBC+ start to work better together.... I really like MM-- I use it to edit all my pictures, but it drives me NUTS that I have to export the pictures outside of MM so that I can upload them into SBC+... how dumb is that???

I can't wait for the new side loading sleeves... I am totally moving to them all the way... Love the idea of being able to change around the order of the pages in my albums... and combining digital with traditional. I'm so glad they kept the cost the same as pages + PP.

Where are you finding the information about the webinars? I've searched all over CMC network and can't find anything about them. Not crazy about that website.

hi
Can you tell me how people are journaling in a circle or in a swirl... like when you see the words going up and down and all around????

like the pages in this in crazy journaling challenge posts?

thanks!!!!

They are probably using full blown Photoshop. There isn't a way to do "text on a path" yet in SBC+. You can do the journaling around your page or pictures in straight lines, though. Just make long, skinny text boxes that fit next to your pictures, then copy them and rotate them along the edges of the page or pictures. KWIM?

Yes, in Photoshop CS3 (or whatever it is called) NOT Photoshop Elements, although I have seen some templates you can buy that do it in PSE somehow.

Am thinking of purchasing SB+, but have a quick question. How do you use SB+ and have a book printed in, say, Shurterfly? I don't want to pay the price CM wants for a printed book, but I have done books in shurterfly with their templates. Just not sure if and how you do a SB+ but print it somewhere else besides CM. This will help me decide if I will purchase SB+ or not. Thanks from a digi newby!

You can save each finished page as a jpeg file and then do whatever you want with them.... print them individually (in any size), have them printed, or upload them to a site like Shutterfly and order a bound photobook... which is essentially what people do who use any other kind of digi software. I think you will like the software... it is so user friendly.... and other than a few select techniques/options (like text on a path for circular text, etc.) you can do virtually anything you want to do in the software....

Hey, Fellow SBC+ers! I just had a CM show and now I have about $70 in hostess credit to shop with! What do you think I should get? I'm thinking of getting all digital stuff. I already have the Disney Power Palette, 12x12 pages, and Mickey add-on. I'm thinking of getting the Princess and Cars add ons for sure. Are there any kits that you really LOVE from CM? Any predesigned pages that were even better than you thought they'd be? Has anyone gotten the swirly overlays, the sewing room stuff, or the office supplies? I think the office supplies are kind of lame (I think I have most of that stuff from freebie kits I have found online), but I kind of like the primary sewing kit one. Any thoughts on how I should spend my dough? (Oh yeah, I am also buying the Disney Picfolio bundle deal, but that's paper stuff, so we won't talk about that here!! :rotfl: )

Jessica,

Congrats on a good show!! The Disney Picfolio bundle is a steal :)

I hope I don't offend any CMCs when I give you my opinion on what to buy or not buy- but I want you to get the most out of your credit.

As for the digital stuff - here is my advice - the swirly overlays are cool - I do like them and used Dawn Oldham's techique of using the same color as the background color and adjusting it a little to stay in the same color family. I would not spend the money on the sewing room supplies or office supplies - there are too many freebies that encompass these elements to make them worth the money. I also would not buy any 8 x 8 pre-designed pages because you can buy the 12 x 12 and resize to 8 x 8. I do love the Primary Power Palette and additions and the Jewel Power Palette and additions are my favorite. I also love the Starry Night Kit - although it is Christmas - the colors are dark and rich and really beautiful.

As with most of the CM digital stuff - the paper is amazing but the embellishments are kind of flat... I have every digital CM kit - so if you have specific questions on one - ask away :goodvibes

Congrats Jessica -- gotta love free stuff.... I have the swirly overlays and like them. Do you ever print your pages? CM is coming out with the awesome new slide in pages/page protectors (I think Spet. 1?) You could always go for an album and pages... I still think CMs albums can't be beat.

SB+ and ordering help please! Do I order just sb+, Kit I, kit II, reg digi bundle, just SB= and some Disney stuff? Then what Disney stuff? So confused and my cm person doesn't do digital. She is asking for me but I want to get started today! Any suggestions? Any CM users please. I am new to digital scrapping and need some assistance! Do I ned to order any other papers, etc. Totally confused Carol!

I replied to your PM, but in case anyone else has the same questions:

I'd go with the Click it 1 collection or just SBC+. I don't use Memory Manager. If you want to start today, go with the downloadable version of SBC+ and get it right now off your CMC's website!

I also wouldn't get the Disney content CD. I like to have the 12x12 predesigned pages, so since the CD comes with 81/2 x 11, I wouldn't get it. I started with the Disney Vacation Kit, Mickey add-on, and 12x12 pages. Now I"m trying to decide what to get next!! Hope that Helps!
