Who here uses a web browser other than Internet Explorer?

I'd like your reasons why you prefer a different browser, be it Netscape, Firefox, Opera, etc.

My DH, DS19 and DS17 swear that Internet Explorer is the spawn of Satan, so they use Firefox or Opera. LOL! Other browsers don't seem prone to as many problems as IE. Also, many "hackers" out there target their virus/worm programs at IE because it's such a dominant browser. Personally, when I was online recently trying to make reservations for excursions for my Disney Cruise, IE would get stuck, so I ran Firefox and got everything reserved that I wanted, so I think it's wise to keep something other than IE on your computer just in case you run into something like that. But, because IE is the dominant browser, some pages just don't load right if you're not using it. I suggest you try different ones and see what you like best.

they're right. IE is the spawn of satan. its basically swiss cheese to worm programs. there's a hundred ways in.

That's sorta my point. I tried each one in the last week, and I don't really see one as being any better. They all have different features, but I thought Opera or Firefox would be faster but they're not (at least not to me eyes). But the virus/hacker issues you brought up are worth considering, never thought of that.

Firefox rocks.... I have been using it for awhile now and am really really happy with it. Love the tabs.... Can not live with out thoes now. Plus I love the customization of the browser, lots of plug-ins to choose from to make your browser easier to use.

Mozilla Firefox user here. I think it's a bit safer from virus' because so many of them are aimed at IE. Although dh uses IE on this computer all the time so I'm not sure what I think I'm achieving, lol.

Switched to Firefox over a year ago... IE was too slow... and let too much through. Very happy now, except occasionally can't see a picture and have to open "that other browser" to see it.

Opera!!! Love it. Much faster than IE. Lots of features. Great for reading newsfeeds. Been using it for years now. No complaints from me.

Firefox and love the features with the newest release (tabs, etc.). Main reason we switched was because of security - or lack thereof. I'm not anti-Microsoft per so but am not willing to support them until they get more serious about the security in their products.... it should be a much higher priority in a company with the amount of resources they have IMHO.

I'm a FireFox user. Sometimes I have to use that other "thing" (I don't like IE).
