Who here lives in Maryland? (Added a little poll)

I just notice a lot of Marylander's on the DIS Boards, so I wanted to see how many are here! And where are you? We are in Odenton (Anne Arundel County).

And while I'm at it, an FYI for you guys, the Disney Store at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie will be closing around May 25th! Bummer. The one in Columbia Mall should remain open though. They have a great sale going on right now, we shopped there on Sunday.

How do you get to WDW? Drive, fly, train??

Now that we have kids, we have to drive because it's the least expensive way to go. But, after driving for the first time last year we realized that's how we'd choose to do it anyway! It is SOOOOOOO nice to have our minivan with us down there, gives a lot more freedom to go anywhere, anytime and not have to wait for the WDW buses.

I live in Elkton in Cecil County, up in the Northeast corner of the state. We are about 6 miles west Delaware and 6 miles south of PA. I grew up in the Towson area of Baltimore County and have lived here for 16 years.

I live in Washington, D.C. but grew up in Baltimore, Maryland.

I was in the Disney Store at Columbia Mall just a couple of weeks ago. Columbia Mall has always been one of my favorite malls in this area.

I live in St. Mary's City, the original capitol of Maryland. There are a very few Southern MDers here on the DIS.

I was in the Disney store in the Waldorf Mall (St. Charles Town Center) a couple of weeks ago, and it showed no sign of closing. A long drive for many of you, but if you need a Disney store fix, there's an option.

Last time I was at Lake Forest Mall the DS was still open - no signs of it closing, yet......

Another Marylander here too. I live in Pasadena. I didn't know about the Disney Store closing! I am there at least once a week but have been at WDW for the last two weeks and missed that info. Guess I'll be hitting that store today! Thanks!

I live in Cecil county too! I usually go to the Disney store in the Christiana Mall (Delaware) so I don't have to pay tax on anything. I hope it doesn't close any time soon!

We only found out about it by accident. My dh was there yesterday evening returning some stuff, and he overheard a cm talking on the phone..saying how bummed she was that the store was closing. So dh asked if it was closing, and she confirmed it. She said that all the merchandise will be moved to other stores, so there won't be any big clearance sale or anything. Yesterday morning they had already moved all the DVD's and CD's to another store. I feel bad for the people working there though!

I was there just the other day..wanting to buy some Disney Dollars. That's when they told me they would be closing. Bummer. Columbia is remaining open from what I understand. They sent all their Disney Dollars there.

Just a fyi in case you are interested...we have a Disney fan club (NFFC - Baltimore Chapter) where people who love all kinds of things Disney get together for a social afternoon every couple of months. We have members in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, D.C. and Virginia in our chapter. Lots of fun! If you would like any info on our meetings, just let me know.

Another MD DIS family here - Middletown in Frederick County (I know there is another Middletown in MD). I grew up in Prince George's County.

edited to add that we have a Disney Store at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick & there is a newer, nicer, larger one at the Valley Mall in Hagerstown. (At least as of Friday -both were still operating.) I don't go much because I have 9 & 10 yr old sons - DS has NOTHING for them & very little for me & DH.

Another Marylander here. I live in Landover... not for too muxh longer though.

I hear you guys talking about the Disney Store. I used to go to the one in Pentagon City all of the time. I would go in there so much the CM's would remember the items I bought and would always say to me, see you in two weeks or so as I left the store. Anyway, the store in Pentagon City was open one day and closed the next. No signs of closing at all. So just imagine me making my bi weekly trip to the DS and turn the corner to find it all boarded it. I almost fainted. I thought I was on the wrong floor of the mall, I had to ask the security guard where did the DS move to because I could not believe it was not there anymore.

So don't be DS shocked like me and go to the mall and assume you are go to have a Disney day in the DS and find it gone.

I was NOT a happy camper that day in Pentagon City. I've since have gotten over my shock and have been on the search for a new DS to take over. Thanks for letting me know where more stores are in the State of MD.

Hey, how about a FORMER MARYLANDER but still am in my heart. Born in Harford Couty (Aberdeen Proving Ground). Grew up mainly in Greenbelt. Lived in Beltsville as an adult. Family roots are in Mt. Savage (Cumberland area). Still have family all over the State. Get home a few times a year but get to Disney more...and boy do I hear about that

Best thing about being a MD transplant in GA??? My DS and I were able to go the NCAA championship game AND MD WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
