Who here collects Disney Holiday items?

We are now getting to one of my favorite times of year and I was looking around and I seem to have a lot of xmas stuff that is Disney related (Big Surprise) Then I wondered who else shares my love of Disney at the Holidays....

So what do you collect that is holiday (any holiday) related to Disney?

Besides having a Disney decorated tree with a monorail going around it, I also have about 6 different Mickey and Minnie Christmas animated holiday characters. And then I also have the Dept 56 buildings to decorate different rooms around the house - just about every room will have some kind of Disney holiday in it! I've tried not to add too much this year - I'm running out of room.

Can someone please tell me about the tradition of a train running around the bottom of your tree.

In the 1920s & 1930s Lionel was successful in marketing/selling their trains to families, especially fathers & sons. At that time trains were the dominant means of long distance transportation in the USA. Trains connected small town America. The model train was part of that culture & an electric toy/train represented everything modern. I did do a google search on Christmas traditions trains & found some interesting web sites.

You are welcome. Do you have Christmas traditions/collections in Spain?

As for Disney holiday items I have a lot of Christmas ornaments - both from Disney & from Hallmark. I have a collection of snowmen, bells & Santas that I also use to decorate for the holidays.

Wow I have too much too say lol. And I only use disney stuff for Christmas. I have 2 lionel disney trains... 6 big figurines(mickey and minnie under the msitle toe in victorian clothing, stich as santa, mickey as santa, donald as santa with the chipmunks, tinkerbelle in red holiday outfit sitting on a snowflake and dopey with a jingle bell) I have ALOT of lenox ornaments and the most expensive ornament I have is about $200.00(sorceror Mickey by steiff).I also have some custom made yard art to put outside when decorating the lawn(about 10 sets) some old holiday tins for cookies. I even have a complete set of holiday disney dinnerware.Tree skirt and topper.. mostly just about 100- 150 really nice ornaments and a few pieces to place around. They have all never been displayed yet. You should see the 5 HUGE I dont even know how many gallon tubs these things are in.... there is no room for any more really but I keep adding.Im working now but I will try to take some pics tonight.
