Who has used the Von's Summer Pass tickets?

I live in No Cal, but since I used to live in So Cal one of my college buddies has offered to buy the tickets for us at Von's, the 3 day pass and I'll pick them when we see her. I know you need So Cal ID to purchase the tickets. We plan on going midweek so she won't be with us when we walk through the gates.

I called Guest Services at DL, the annual pass office to verify this was ok to do and she said that as long as they purchased the tickets for me I could use them.

Was anyone asked for id when you USED the ticket, (not when you bought it)?

Are the crowds crazy since this is such a good deal?

We did this last year....my girlfriend bought them for us and then we used them without her. They didn't ask for ID at the turnstiles but I vaguely remember them asking what city we lived in so I had to do some quick thinking.... But we didn't have any problems other than that and we'll be doing it again in a few weeks

I used to live in Southern California for 12 years..now I live in Vegas for about12 years. Last year I noticed Disneyland was doing the summer fun pass so I went to ralphs when I went to Anaheim and purchased 3 of the passes and they didn't check id or anything.

Next morning I used all 3 passes, once again noone said anything or asked us anything..i think we are going on the 11th and we are hoping for the same luck. If not, I do have relatives who live in southern cali who will help me, but I'm sure we wont have that problem.

There's been a few threads discussing this. Apparently DL is cracking down this year on these passes and are checking ID more often. In the past summers I haven't heard of anyone being asked for ID. And know personally several people from out of state who used the passes with no problem. But this year they seem to be asking for ID. Some folks have reported that as long as 1 person in the group has proper ID you're fine. Others have said that all adults must have proper ID. Then there are those who have used the tickets without any questions. If you arrive at opening when the lines are long you are less likely to be asked for ID.

Calling Guest Services usually results in being told that you're okay as long as a soCal person buys the pass. But a few have been told that the passes are strictly for soCal residents and the 8 ticket allowance is not so you can buy for friends, but so you can buy for your kids who don't have ID.

Bottom line is there is definitely more checking this year than there has been in the past.

There's probably a 50/50 chance you will be asked for ID at either the supermarket or the turnstile.

It's a very good deal and too hard to resist, we live in Northern California and have used the So. Cal Summer Fun pass. My family have annual passes and we used the Summer Fun pass for our non-pass holding members. We've probably done this on 4 different trips and have never been asked for ID at the store nor at the park.

We just bought some on our last trip earlier this month, we purchased 8 - we split up however so not all 8 were purchased by the same person, and paid cash. At the park we split up as well, did not all enter together. It's sneaky and some may say dishonest, but it sure does cost a pretty penny to visit the Happiest Place on Earth so we are willing to take the risk.

I do find it odd that Disneyland would be OK with non residents using the pass as long as it was purchased by a So. Cal resident. It's not like the resident is not going to be re-embursed by the non-resident, so the money would still be coming from a non-resident.

It is against the rules.

Disneyland has stepped up random ID checking this year compared to last year.

Also, in addition, while Disneyland would only randomly check ID on the first use, that is no longer Disneyland's policy. They will randomly check ID any time you use the ticket.

Keep in mind that by purchasing a ticket that one does not qualify for, they are running up the costs of tickets for everybody. Disney calculates ticket prices and SoCal promotions based on an expected mix of SoCal and non-SoCal residents. And when this mix is heavily deviated from because people think its okay to break the rules, then everybody's ticket price goes up.

Of course, Disneyland is partially to blame for trusting that the public is honest and not having extra security measures like finger scans.
