Who has used greengrocer.com?

We used GG last week for our stay at Windsor Hills. We had great communication with the company initially and they delivered our order at the designated time. I was disappointed, however, with several of the products that we received.

They substituted several items without notifying us - we were given generic chocolate bars instead of Mickey Mouse ice cream bars, salad dressing was reduced fat (not what we ordered), the wine we ordered was substituted with another brand (one that gives us headaches!), and the bananas we ordered (We specified some "green" and some "yellow", were yellow and spotted.

When I mentioned the discrepancy between our order and what was delivered, the delivery guy just stated " I don't do the shopping." I asked him to pass along our complaints, however we never againthing from GG. We tipped $40 when we placed our order, so I was hoping that we would receive good service by our "shopper".

Although it was very convenient to have groceries delivered, we ended up having to still run to the store to get the items that were incorrect in our order.

I just placed my order with GG and did include a case of beer on it but the order total did not reflect that. I am assuming that it's because they have not yet purchased that and will add that to the order when they do. I did tip according to the beer being added to the order.

Also, I have a comcast email address so I am also to assume I won't get a confirmation email?

TIA.

The extra items that we ordered that were not in their regular inventory (including beer and wine) did not show up on our total either. We paid by credit card via the website for our order. The delivery guy just told us the amount that was due for our extra items and we paid at the time of delivery. We paid cash as the delivery guy said that they did not keep credit card information on record. I think that we may have been able to give him a credit card number at delivery if we had wanted to do so though.

I tipped according to what the bill would have been with the beer included, so when I pay the delivery guy I will just have to tell him the tip was already "prepaid" according to the order with beer included. I hope that goes over okay. I tipped pretty well too since I want them to get the order right. I may have to send an email explaining that too prior to our arrival.
Thanks for the information.

Tipping before-hand? Is there a spot for this on the order form? Instead, can you tip upon delivery? If I tipped 40 bucks at the time of the order and then was dissatisfied with the service, I would not be a happy camper. :sad2:

That is true. I hope they do a good job. There is a spot that says "Gratuity" and then optional is in parathensis. I spoke with the owner yesterday to verify my order was rec'd since I never did get a confirmation and told him I tipped according to the beer being including so he noted that. Also, I asked him if I faxed my driver license to him (read this on another post) to verify my age would they deliver my order if I wasn't there and he said yes. This way with tip already paid, I don't have to be there when the order arrives. It's just my DH and myself and there isn't much on the original order that can be messed up (no real food items) mostly water, soda, sunscreen, some breakfast bars, things like that so I hope they get it right. Time will tell.

In my mind, tipping for a Garden Grocer delivery ahead-of-time should be reserved for circumstances when you have them deliver the order directly to your resort's Bell Services rather than directly to you.

I would never tip in advance if I don't have to. However, if I've planned it so that I KNOW I won't be there to accept the delivery, I'd find it unacceptable to NOT tip the delivery person, so only then would I take a leap of faith and tip ahead-of-time.

With a delivery that includes adult beverages, you don't have the option of requesting a delivery be made to Bell Services ... you must be present and show ID (if you look like you might possibly be under 21) for such orders.
