If anyone has stayed at gf sugar loaf concierge have you had better experiences than the people complaining about main bldg. concierge?
How far in advanced were you contacted about the staff to help you make ps's??

Thanks....

I honeymooned in Sugar Loaf and had no problems whatsoever. Everything was wonderful and the staff was sooooo helpful when I messed up on our PS's (got the nights/restaurants mixed up) even though I was the cause of the problem. They went out of their way to arrange for us to have PS's at two special restaurants with no problems and we ended up not missing out on a thing. They answered every question, we had no problems with the complimentary food (nothing "gone" within 30 minutes) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I'm so upset about everyone's "horror stories" because they are so very different from the experience we had. I don't want people to think that they will automatically have a horrible experience just because others feel that they did ----- always try it and see for yourself. I would highly recommend Sugar Loaf... our view of the castle was breathtaking, and we watched the water parade from our balcony. Not enough wonderful things to say about the GF and its staff!

I've also stayed in Sugar Loaf, however this past trip I stayed in the main building. Contrary to most of the posters, we had a most magical vacation. As the previous poster mentioned, the staff is wonderful and really does try to make everything work for you. I'm always so anxious about my trips, that if I haven't heard from them 60 days out, then I pick up the phone and initiate the call. ;) Nothing wrong with that.

Food service is very nice, they just end a bit earlier and don't serve alcohol as the main building does. My son wasn't much into lemonade and a staff member was always happy to grab him a soda. By the end of the week, she would have it waiting for him. Personally, I just thought that the concierge area was a bit cramped. You have the concierge staff, food service and tables all together in the main floor lobby area. Made it very convenient for stepping in and getting a cold drink or grabbing a quick snack on the way out the door, but I just found it lacking a bit of ambience.

If you really want an MK view though, I would ask the previous poster, MrsAPalm for her specific room number and send in a request to the room assignor 4 days before you arrive. The way that the building is configured on the property, there are not many rooms that would have the view that she described. I know that we were on the marina side and could see the fireworks fine, but had to strain our necks a bit to see the castle. Our only view of the water pageant was watching it from the boat dock next to Narcoosees.

This was our 4th stay at GF and we are definitely planning a 5th!

Enjoy yours,
Tammi

You you please send me a PM with your room number? I know you can see the fireworks from some rooms in Sugar Loaf, but never heard of anyone being able to see the castle. :)

Sorry to up such an old thread, but does anyone know which rooms specifically have this "breathtaking castle view" at Sugar Loaf? As not many have reported such views, I would like to know which rooms offer them.

I don't know the room number but it would almost have to be the last room on the MK end facing Narcoose's. As stated due to the position of this building I can't imagine any other room having a castle view. The other side faces the marina and then Conch Key is between Sugar Loaf and the lagoon.

Thank you for this information. I will e-mail the IPO and request this room, as getting an castle view at Sugar Loaf would be a double treat.

you have to strain you body accross the balcony in able to see it.
