We happened to be near the gift shops when we saw a line of people waiting to meet Captain Tom Forberg and get his signature. We were really bad at checking out the Navigators so we were glad that we happened to come upon this. We got in line and shortly after that a CM stood behind the couple behind us, because it was almost time for the Captain's autographing session to end. Apparently he'd been sitting there autographing and posing for pics for a while already.
As we were almost up to the table that he was sitting at, we noticed a display of matted maps, and some people were taking them and asking the Captain to autograph the mat. The lady in front of me was asking the Captain to show her where the Magic went for the eastern itinerary (we were on the western) so he took his Sharpie pen and drew in the course, right on the map. I thought this was a great idea and when it was our turn I asked the Captain if he could draw in the course that we had taken that week because it was altered drastically from the normal western course because of Hurricane Frances. Our cruise was the one that ended up being a 10-night cruise instead of a 7-night cruise.
Even though the Captain must've been tired at this point from all of the autographing and posing and the stress from all of the changes because of the hurricane, he took his Sharpie and drew in our unique course on my map, then signed the mat. He also autographed 2 cards that featured him as a cartoon, for our sons. This meant a lot to us, that he took the extra few minutes and did this for us. We have a truly unique souvenir of our unique
Disney Cruise
Here are a couple of pictures of the map that Capt Tom made for us, note the black lines that shows all of our stops from that cruise, including Costa Maya, Galveston, TX, and Fort Lauderdale:
