I have to loose weight! In the last 4 months I have managed to put on 40 lbs.:scared1: I had lost 60 2 years ago on my own:cool1:, but have manage to put it all back on:sad1:. Yes, I do know what I did wrong:guilty:...I stopped caring and gave into cravings. Life has taken a new course and I know I need to get this weight off before more gets packed on top of it. I start working again as a teacher next month so I will be on my feet more and not eating out of boredom:thumbsup2. We belong to the YMCA and I do use the gym (more now):yay:. I just think I need a little extra push so am thinking about WW. They have a location close to work and a weekly meeting time that works perfectly in my schedule. Who has had success with WW? Like/Dislikes of WW? TIA!!!

I loved it! Between the meetings and the materials they give you, you really get a good foundation so you can eat real food and still lose weight. DH and I went together- he lost 35-40lbs, I lost 30. My sister lost 60, my parents both lost about 20-30, and my MIL lost 15...

I should admit that I've gained some of it back, but some of that is because I was going through fertility treatments (the rest was due to desserts)...

I have done WW twice - after each child. It does work and the plan is good because you can eat what you want and stay in your point range. For me though, both times after a couple of months I grew tired of counting points and gave into cravings. I have keep the weight off I lost this past time around, but I am 5-10 from my pre-preg. weight (gained around 60 pounds with each preg.). I am probably going to count points again after summer. The weekly weigh in is what works the best for me - I need to know that I am paying $$$ every week to be weighed in - so it holds me accountable. Some of the meetings are ok, some not. I sometimes just go to weigh in. Good luck - I think it would be good for you, especially being at school - you can plan your meals and snacks.

I do low carb and have lost 45 lbs since February. My best friend does WW and it works for her. She loves it. It has to become a life long change, regardless of which WL program you try. If you want to keep the weight off, you have to get on a plan you can live with...literally.

I did WW last summer, but only the online version, no meetings. It worked for me because I'm a total geek about competing with myself to see how much food I could eat within my point range. Plus, I'm a major fruit and veggie fan  so I enjoyed it. I also shook up my workout routine a little and that always helps.

I'd plan out each day in advance with the online point tracker thingy and then just stick to it. The other key for me was to factor in treats (like those giant WW fudge bars that were low point and yummy!).

Good luck! It's definitely a journey, but it feels great once you get into the swing of it!

I loved it too! but it is what you make it of course. If you go the meetings I found I got better results. When I joined I talked with an associate about my weightloss goal and I loved getting the "stars" each time I passed met a mid way goal (ie. 10 lbs etc).

I loved that I could technically eat anything I wanted (I think I needed that mentally to STAY on the program) and it's so popular that it's easy to find support and restaurants and recipes :)

I met my goal weight and the next day found out I was pregnant! :rotfl2: Go figure eh?

I am a lifetime member for 8 yrs now & have managed to keep of most of the weight off. I originally lost 70 pounds but after my second baby I had a really difficult time getting back to the original number. So now I am about 20lbs heavier than 8 yrs ago. I'm not as skinny as I was but I am really comfortable with my work out routine & the food I eat so I don't mind not being really skinny again. My second baby is now 6 so I've been this weight for this long that now I feel that I can control my weight issues & I owe this to WW. Although I don't count points on a regular basis, I will if the pants get too tight.

I think another PP said it best whichever you choose you have to realize it is a life long commitment. Good luck. I think WW is a truly wonderful program.

I love WW! I joined years ago, while in college and lost my freshman "50". Yup, gained a lot of weight in college. But, I didn't stick with it after college and went home to mom's yummy food.

Then, I got married, had two children and I let life get in my way of a healthy weight. So, 3 weeks before my 40th birthday, I decided it was time for ME again! I joined WW and I realize now that I need to do it, and to be held accountable to someone each week. I've lost 10.8 lbs so far (5th week). I love it because I can eat what I want - I even had a small piece of my own birthday cake (and I counted it).

I too am on a wieght loss journey. Our 2nd trip to DW inspired this, as our first was totally miserable and I can see how my wieght played into it alot (even though I was also sick, suffering from severe cold/bladder infection at the same time, oh yeah and aunt flo showed up too) LOL, so anyways. I decided that I wanted to make the most of our vacation since I dont know when we will be able to get back there again. However, before we had bought our flights for this vacation we were "trying" to get pregnant. Now that we have our vacation booked, and flights paid for. I am cut off from even trying anymore. But I still have the earlier attempts from this month to worry about. IF I am pregnant, can I safely lose any ammount of weight? I would say I am at least 60 pounds over wieght.. or was. 55 now.. I've lost 5. So now we will try after our trip if I am not preggo this month, which I am kinda hoping I'm not because for the first time I feel like I can commit and stick with it. But oh well if I am, I will still be happy.. but adding baby weight to where I am now seems a little depressing. What do you think?

Can't speak personally, but my Dad (who will be 59 in Dec.) went on WW about 2 years ago. He was well over 300 pounds and the Dr. told him he had to lose the weight, so he and my Mom did WW. He is now 182 lbs. The Dr. said no more (my Dad is 6'3", so you can image how thin he is), so he is maintaining and been doing that for awhile now. He pretty much eats what he wants and he counts his points. My folks realized that their problems were portion control. Mom was still cooking for 4-5 people and Dad was eating for 3-4.

I am following WW and have done well. I lost almost 35 pounds and am at goal. I have support, my DD and DDIL also follow the plan and my DH will eat almost anything I cook so not issues there. I do follow the Simply Filling plan, which was the old CORE plan. I don;t like my life to revolve around points so I only count the weekly points and eat core foods for most of the meals.

Head over to the WISH board, there is a WW thread going and it is really a awesome support system! Good luck in your weightloss journey!

I am on the WW online program, I have lost +20 pounds in the last couple of months, it is a lot cheaper then the meeting version. I love the online version since it is for computer geeks like me, the only draw back is when I am on vacation during the summer, and don't have internet access I can't record my food, but I know WW has a version for some cell phones with internet access for free...to bad I have a prepaid phone:guilty:!! Good luck on your weight loss journey!!

Thanks for all the encouragement. I decided to start with WW online and then switch to meetings if I need a kick in the butt. So far so good...but it is only day. Guess I gotta start somewhere though.

I lost 35 lbs with ww online, but recently gained some of it back. I'm trying to get myself to get back to it without joining again but I don't think I can. It seemed easy at the time but now that it's just 10 lbs I need to loose it's harder to make myself do it. WW is great because they give you the tools and motivation. I may be joining you in a few weeks. I want to wear my skinny shorts to the world in Jan.

This is OT, but that is a really big gain in a very short amount of time. I would recommend that you see a doctor about your rapid wight gain ... it may be something more serious than giving into cravings.

ITA! I am waiting for my insurance to kick in to go for a complete physical. It may have been closer to 6 months for the weight gain (I was in total denial for the longest lime :rotfl:). But in all honestly it was high stress (we moved from a different country and DH left his job--which was a good thing), sitting on my butt, and A LOT of REALLY unhealthy food. I have never been thin, but in my later years of college, then living on my own (with crappy food choices and lack of activity), added with back to back pregnancies (and I did use the 'eating for 2' excuse) was a receipe for disaster.

I've been tested for thyroid, but it came back negative. I really started to put the weight back on when I began an anti-seizure med (2 years ago)...my Dr didn't believe that the meds would cause the gain because it wasn't really a 'listed' side effect and said it was just poor diet and lack of exercise (but I was still eating healthier/better and getting some exercise :confused3) AND that I was most likely depressed!!!:headache: Ok, so I am not always the happiest person in the world (I am not an emotional eater unless you count boredom :lmao:), but when he told me that (and wanted to put me on meds for that too which I refused) I nearly lost it. So basically I just gave up and accepted the 35+ lbs I gained back.

I lost 15+ for our '08 Christmas trip to WDW and came back 5 lbs heavier. I didn't even bother to try to loose it...focused on the move and just didn't care! I know I am full of excuses.:rolleyes1

So, yes there may be a medical issue, BUT...
A lifetime of crappy eating habits
Limited to no physical activity
NO self control when it comes to great tasting foods (Portion control is my BIGGEST issue) or cravings
and
A poor/warpped body image (I honestly do not feel as heavy as I am or think I look that big in a mirror...until I see a picture of myself :scared1:)
is why I am just plain 'ol FAT!

Thanks for your concern and support!

Oh, and I am not longer taking the anti-seizure med which I hope will help in being able to loose the weight!

prior to my wedding 2 years ago and 2 babies, I lost 30lbs on ww and kept it off for a 1 1/2. I needed the meetings to keep me on track and as soon as this lil bugger is born any day now I will be right back there to do it again.

Congrats on joining WW...I wish nothing but GOOD LUCK on your life change journey with them...and yes it does work...I have a few friends that have lost lots of weight with the help of WW...you just have to work the program...you will have good days and bad days...but just keep on keeping with the good days and you will succeed...

I would love to be the best looking DIL in the family pics, but my one SIL is a 0...in size, personality, and maturity! My other SIL is a sweetheart (she and DH's brother bought our house!:thumbsup2) and a size sm/med. Guess if I want to be the best looking in a family pic I need to take it with just my family...since I'm an only child!:rotfl:

Good luck to eveyone who is on the journey...may the only rock road you encounter be flavorful!!!:lmao:
