What was the route like? What cool "backstage" stuff did you see happening before park open? Did you have to leave your phone in your room, or simply not take it out? What pace would you say they set?

We did it a couple years ago. I don't remember seeing much "backstage" stuff except cast members getting ready for the day. It was still very fun to be in the park when it was so empty.

I had my phone with me, but I never took it out of my pocket. The cast member leading the walk did make a point of telling one of the other people to put hers away, but didn't make her take it back to her room. As for the pace, it was a brisk walk. The CM said that how much ground we covered was dependant on if we all kept up. (Some of the group fell behind, but I don't know if our route would have been different if they hadn't.)

I can't answer your questions, but make sure you know the way to the GCH entrance ahead of time. I tried to do the walk when staying at DLH, and in the dark (pre-dawn) we overlooked the GCH entrance from DTD and consequently missed the walk. But on the plus side we were really early for rope drop!

I have heard about this vaguely and am interested in details. Does anyone have a link?

What a fun way to start the day! 6 a.m.? Not sure I'd want to wake up that early at Disneyland, though... rope drop to park closing can be brutal!

I did this a few years ago. At the beggining of the walk the guide made an announcement about no pictures, i don't remember him saying no phones though. The walk itself was easy and we went through all of California Adventure. I wouldn't say there was any backstage stuff to see, but it was neat to be in the park when there was hardly anyone there. It was bizarre seeing service trucks in the middle of the walkways were there are normally people, and there were lots of CM's working to get the park ready.

Did it last Saturday and it was soooo cool!

No behind the scene stuff. He had us sign a waiver and wear bright yellow vest. Just saw CM's getting park ready. Could bring phone but no photos allowed. Appropriate shoes...no sandals, etc.

I'm a very fast walker and we kept that pace. 5 of us did it. 30 minutes and we made the loop from Grizzly to paradise pier to back entrance Carsland, through bugs land, past Guardians, down Hollywood, and back to entrance.

He was open to questions. Would love to do again in the future.

PERFECT!!! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the info!!

I SO wanted to do this when we were there in July as it is something i had known about for a little bit and just seemed perfect! Unfortunately... after a long day of Disney .. i don't think i could have completed it! On two occasions we tried but our feet were dead from the evening before as were our eyes haha.. soo exhausted. We are say out until closing kind of ppl so it was a little too much. We wanted to try it the first day .. but unfortunately we couldn't as we were at Disneyland for dance and had an early morning rehearsal. Bummer. Next time we go it wont be for dance so i hope to give it a try then as we wont have any early morning rehearsals to deal with.

My inlaws have always wanted to do this as they are up at 5:30 anyways but we always stay off site. Some day we will do this.

Was your guide's name Dave?

To be honest, I don't remember his name. However, he was young Caucasian with dark blonde hair. His CM tag said Anaheim and said he's been working for 5 years. I liked him a lot.

Oh ok, thanks. I guess Dave moved out to bigger and better things but he had led that power walk for a long time.

I had no idea this existed. Sounds like fun, but considering a normal day for us is 7-10 miles a day of power-walking in the parks, the thought of adding on another two before breakfast sound tiring and makes my feet hurt.

We'll be staying at the DLH for the first time in November and plan on one day with minimal park time so we can enjoy the hotel, maybe I'll use that as an opportunity to do this.
