Who has been on CLOMID???

I did. I have PCOS and had to have my tubes and ovaries cleaned out (cysts) before I could get pregnant. My doc also gave me one months worth of clomid - which was, I think, 3 pills. Well I had the surgery in June, took the pills in July and was pregnant with twins by August!

Good luck!

I haven't been on Clomid (yet) but I wanted to wish you luck!! I hope it works quickly for you!

I took it -- once. 100mg for 5 nights. I started seeing 5 of everything. It was very scary. My RE and opthalmalogist said I should never take it again, that it was a very serious side effect. I did not get pg that cycle, btw. So I upgraded to Gonal-F and that produced 1 singleton pregnancy that I miscarried, and my twin pregnancy (now 3 years old). Good luck!

I was on Clomid for several months, and it caused me a lot of emotional stress. I was a complete mess with mood swings, etc., so be prepared for that.

Otherwise, I didn't have any problems. I didn't end up with a baby from it, but I ended up changing doctors and the new doc found the problem immediately.

I hope it works out great for you!!!

I'd had one miscarriage, went on Clomid and had a second miscarriage. Luckily, I had my DD after that. I don't think it was more than 2 or 3 cycles each time to get pregnant. It was Clomid alone - and a low dose.

I remember being spacey. alittle extra emotional, and having something like mild hot flashes. I also had mutiple eggs ripen - it was painful like Ovarian cysts but a little worse.

best of luck!!!!:) :wizard:

I took Clomid for one cycle to help me conceive my 2cnd dd. She is going to be 9 in August:thumbsup2 My SIL was on it also and her TRIPLETS are 9 also, lol. Not trying to freak you out-the odds of triplets are very low but she won the lottery! I believe I was on 50 mg and she was on 150 I think. I did research it before I took it and I seem to remember that most of the time if it is going to work it will work in the first 3 cycles. It was a long time ago so my memeory is fuzzy but just something to keep in mind. Good luck!!!

I was on Clomid (50mg) for 5 cycles. My side effects were different each cycle. Somtimes my bbs would get really sore, sometimes I would have really bad cramps. I was always moody and very emotional. The Clomid alone didn't work for us so we moved onto IUI and bam....I'm 5 weeks!!

Best of luck to you and lots of Baby Dust!!! :wizard:

I did one 50 mg cycle with my DS7. I don't remember any side effects. However, when I started taking the progesterone (Day 1-8?) I didn't think ahead and ended up needing to "make the baby" during the busiest week we had in months. I was out of town two days that week for work and my husband had commitments every night that week. So my advice is to check your calendar before committing to a time frame. You'll want to enjoy it;)

I took it for three cycles of increasing doses. I was an evil *B* when I took it. In hindsight I shouldn't have been allowed to take it for those two more cycles but I was desperate to get pregnant and I think DH was probably too afraid of my mood swings to say anything  I had nausea, vomiting, crazy mood swings, etc...... and I never got pregnant. I finally got pregnant on my third cycle of injectibles/IUI. Good luck to you!

I did 8 rounds of Clomid - 2 at 50mg and 6 at 100mg. None were successful. However, the month after those 8 rounds, we decided to take a month or two off and consider our options, I got pregnant.

Personally, I think the glucophage I was on for PCOS had more to do with it than the Clomid ever did. It made me evil for 5 days - cranky and ugly.... DH will tell you he's suprised it's a fertility drug, when he had no interest in being in the same room with me, let alone close enough for me to actually get pregnant. :)

Good luck
Jen

I did Clomid many times with and without IUIs. Clomid didn't work for me because, as we later found out, I was beginning meopause and what eggs I did produce weren't good quality (I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure at the age of 29). IVF and donor egg IVF didn't work for me either, but we soon discovered we were meant to be parents through adoption.

Anyway, I do remember the Clomid days. That little pill made me evil. I was very emotional and moody. The good thing is that it only lasts a short while and then you're back to normal. I made the mistake of taking it during a cycle once when we went on vacation with some of my husband's family. :rolleyes1

I did have blurry vision too, but that's a normal side effect as Clomid affects your pituitary gland.

Good luck to you! I have a friend that was successful on Clomid with a singleton!

Some studies show that women who take Clomid are more than 3 times likely to one day have ovarian cancer than those who have never taken the drug:guilty:

Many doctors do not advise their patients of this risk:sad2:

My son Riley is from cycle 2-- only real side effect I noticed was moodiness. (and he is worth any extra risk of cancer, IMO!)

I wanted to mention that studies using Clomid less than 12 cycles does not increase your risk of OVCA.

it was some time ago for me - but I THINK I remember it being associated with being on more than three consecutive cycles at a time.....I think there could could be a break between the 3 cycles and you would be less at risk .....I believe less than three cycles and you are not at increased risk....

I was on Clomid two different times. One was for three cycles at 50mg, a major break, and again was for 5 cycles which started at 50 mg and ended at 150 mg. The second time I had u/s monitoring.

I can't remember really bad side effects, except a little moodiness. I wonder if some of that was caused by the stress and emotion of trying to get pregnant, and not all from the meds.

It turned out my problem was also PCOS, and glucophage did the trick.

Good luck OP! Are you seeing a RE or is you OB/GYN treating you? Are you having u/s monitoring?

:rotfl2: That about sums it up!!

Me- "Come on, let's go do it, supposedly I'm ovulating"
Him-"Really? Are you sure? I'm not sure"
Me-"Yes, I'm sure  Hurry up, let's just get this over with"

:rolleyes1

It's not normally like that but that Clomid makes you evil

That's sad. I wasn't advised of that risk and while I might not have wanted to hear it I probably should have. I wonder if that's why my OBGYN office maxes out at three cycles before sending you to an RE

I was on it for 6 months with no luck (due to other issues). It was 20 years ago so I have no clue how strong they were. I don't remember any bad side effects at all, but I do remember thinking "if I get 6 babies out of this I'm going to freak"

BTW, I did go on to have 3 children without the Clomid.
