Well, I chose October to go but it seems many hotels are booked and I couldn't figure out why. All deluxe standard rooms are sold out for my dates with exception to Contemp, GF, & Poly.

My friend called and was told it is because of a big convention and Jersey week. (10-30 - 11-7)

The fact that those hotels are already booked has me nervous and I'm not sure I want to go then now. Eeek! Is it really crowded during that week?

I've been during that time.

That might also be around Super Soap Weekend at MGM - avoid MGM that day, the other parks are fine.

The crowds are fine - we didn't wait too long for anything. Avoid MK on Saturday.

I've been to WDW during Jersey week. It's definitely more crowded than the weeks surrounding it but less crowded than high season. The busiest park was MK. Later in the week, the crowd picks up because of Super Soap Weekend and Veteran's Day holiday.

We used Fast Pass very successfully during the week.

Dan is right! December is so uncrowded! But I've been to WDW twice in December and the weather has been lousy both weeks.

Have a great time whenever you go!

What is Jersey week??? Please tell me since I was already planning on going that week too!

I was there during Jersey week last year and Super Soap Weekend was also going on. I will just say that I will do whatever I need to do to not ever go during those two events again.:earseek:
Like everyone else says December is the month to go! This will be the 4th trip in December. :teeth:

Many New Jersey schools have the first week off in November....they string together Election Day, Veteran's Day and a couple of Teacher In-Service days and give the kids the entire week off. Lots of people from Jersey got WDW that week...hence the name.

Many New Jersey schools are out that week. I'm not even sure if that is the week yet. That is what CRO told my friend who is going as well.

Oh....and just another thought. If you are used to doing PS at the last minute...this usually isn't a good week to do it. Epcot restaurants are usually booked solidly this week as are restaurants in other parks and the hotels.

I'm reconsidering when we go now. I really like the idea of going for MNSSHP so maybe we will go a week earlier in October. Deb's site doesn't have dates listed for Super Soap weekend yet though.

Here's the "jersey week" deal. In New Jersey, there is an annual statewide 2 day teacher convention. Most schools do parent-teacher conferences (meaning school is only 1/2 day) during the beginning of the week and the teacher convention is then on Thursday and Friday (meaning school is closed.) This fall the days which are likely to be half-days in many schools are Nov. 1, 2, 3 (Mon-Tues-Wed) and the days that are closed for the convention are Nov. 4-5. So, this is a week when many NJer's choose to go on vacation.
That being said, not every single family in NJ takes their vacation that week and (even if they did) not every single family in NJ chooses WDW for that vacation week. Often, I smile at the discussions here. It is sometimes sounds like every family with a kid under the age of 25 is in WDW that week!!! And that, because of NJ, all of WDW is innudated with tens of thousands of extra people. I'm sure it's a little more crowded that week but I don't think that the number of NJ families who do go can be responsible for severe overcrowding at WDW.

Hmmmmmm... we may also choose the week earlier just to avoid veterns day and the soap weekend too.

I was in WDW twice during Jersey week. The second time was immediately following 9/11, so obviously the crowds were very light that trip.

The first time was in 2000 -- I didn't know about Jersey week and for the life of me could not figure out why the crowds were so thick! I didn't hear about Jersey week until after I got home. It was still a great trip though - I'd rather than week in WDW (first week of November) than any other.

SO I should vacaction in Jersey that week, being that everyone will be at WDW?

All I know is that anytime there was any kind of a show or crowd of street performers they would ask if there was anyone there NOT from NJ and we were definately the minority ::yes::

Well after talking with the hubby we have decided to go ahead and bite the bullet and move our trip up to Dec.. actually Nov 26th thought Dec 5th.

We were there last year in Dec and LOVED it.

Theres just too much going on in Oct/Nov and also the resorts are more expensive in Oct.

I think we are leaning towards the same thing you are doing Melora. I think the Halloween party sounds like a blast but we really can't stand it when it is super crowded. So Dan, it looks like you got your wish. ;)
